When I was a kid, I was terrified of trading in a used game. I remember checking and double-checking that flaming cartridge or disc to make sure it was suitable to sell on to another keen gamer. For an N64 cartridge, I’d blow the hell out of the thing until there was nothing but the sweet smell of success rebounding into my face; for a PlayStation disc, I was inclined to shine that baby up until my heart was content, safe in the knowledge that my reflection was clear to smile back at me, free from the obstruction of any blemish or scratch.
Again I plunged into the depths of the bargain section of the store, and like a younger and sprier Indiana Jones I wrested the ancient treasure from the dusty plinth of wonders. Okay, maybe that’s a little too much exaggeration, the shelf wasn’t that wondrous, pretty sure I saw almost the entire FIFA back catalogue on there, but the treasure was most certainly ancient, dating back to the mysterious times of 1995. So what was primitive man able to muster up in the point and click age with The Dig?

Although some of the recent downloadable content releases for Burnout Paradise have been a little bit on the dark side of lackluster, the Cops and Robbers downloadable content for Paradise City looks to be a nice diversion to be put into the game. The trailer recently released by Critereon just teases at the things to come.

Police are no match for a VR Trooper!
It is with a heavy heart that I relay this news to you: Saints Row 2’s Ultor Exposed expansion has been delayed until April 23rd. Those of you who have been following recent news on my choice for 2008’s Game of The Year know that Ultor Exposed pits our ever sadistic and customizable protagonist against the sinister Ultor Corporation, assisted by none other than Porn starlet Tera Patrick. Oh, and you can also dress up in an alien costume.
Does anyone remember Legend of Dragoon, that old game on the original Playstation that was heralded as “The Final Fantasy 7 Killer?” It was almost as if Legend of Dragoon saw exactly what Final Fantasy 7 did with its story, but failed to understand what made the individual points of FF7’s plot any good. This is exactly the same feeling I got when I played Suikoden Tierkreis: a game that goes through the motions of Suikoden games without understanding how to pull them off in a way that has any significance. What’s peculiar about this, though, is that Suikoden Tierkreis is not a cheap knock-off – it’s a genuine Suikoden game!

Jonathan Blow, creator of Braid, is going to include a level editor in the PC version of Braid. In a recent thread on the Steam message board, the creator confirmed that there will be a map editor and image importer as soon as he fixes the bugs players are experiencing with the game.
“Yeah, after I get a new version out in a few days that fixes the problems some people are having, and when more people have played/finished the game, I am going to post some documentation for the editor,” Blow wrote. Read more… »

inFamous is an upcoming sandbox action adventure game developed by Sucker Punch, the cunning folks behind the Sly Cooper franchise. We all fully expected the game to hold crimes like murder and theft, yet the game slid by quite unnoticed by the rating boards. Though many expected an M for Mature rating on the game, it actually received a squeaky clean, T for Teen!
