Call Of Duty: World At War Review
By: | November 14th, 2008

Everyone knows that the World War II shooter genre is played out more than Soulja Boy’s lame opinion on anything gaming, but that didn’t stop Treyarch from returning to the genre. Treyarch is last known for the huge disappointment known as Call of Duty 3. Well they have been given the reigns to the franchise again, hoping to redeem themselves by fixing their mistakes. Many took that as impossible when it was announced they would return to World War II after Infinity Ward brought modern combat to the series. Infinity Ward gave the franchise a much needed revitalization and breath of fresh air. The perks and prestige levels gave the played out first person shooter genre an RPG feel. Call of Duty 4 was a massive success and now Treyarch is looking to capitalize on that crowd.

Fallout 3 Impressions
By: | November 13th, 2008

Thank you Bethesda, for you have possibly ruined my life.

Though it’s been out for a shade over two weeks now, I just got my hands on a copy of Fallout 3, and I have discovered it is going to be consuming the vast majority of my time for the immediate future.  I’ve only gotten about 7-8 hours into game, and it has already been proving itself to be one of the finest and unique experiences of my gaming life.  And that’s with me barely scratching the surface of the game.

Bungie Speaks, Interwebs Explode
By: | November 13th, 2008

“Halo? That’s like a shooting game, right?”

Generally whenever one of the guys (or gals) over at Bungie decides to speak out on topics ranging from Halo to ideal weather for dog walking, the internet will nearly collapse under the weight of Halo fans worldwide clamoring for any tidbits of information they can find regarding their favorite series and it’s creators…and their dogs. Gears of War 2 Review
By: | November 13th, 2008

Bigger, better, and more badass. That is what Cliff Bleszinski promised the world with his sequel to the Xbox 360′s smash hit Gears of War.  Does he deliver on his promises? Well in all three accounts, I would have to say a resounding YES!

Left 4 Dead Demo Impressions
By: | November 12th, 2008

Newly released on Xbox Live is the demo for the highly anticipated Xbox 360 exclusive “Left 4 Dead”. The game has been building a generous amount of buzz. Some due to the very vocal Valve staff and their firm position against the PS3 and its unique architecture. But other buzz is genuinely from sincere interest in the game. No matter what side you are on, Valve has made a huge success out of the Half Life series, and are definitely looking for the next hit series.

XBLA: Galaga Legions Review
By: | November 7th, 2008

First I must give a disclaimer. I am a Galaga nut. As a wee sprat it is one of the first coin op games I ever really latched on to. Even after I gained a few years and the cool kids were playing Street Fighter on the big screen you would find my plunking my parents hard earned money in the smoke filled dens of video devilment. To this day I have been on actual dates where I have seen a Galaga machine and my eyes stare longingly over to it’s pixilated glory. In these cases, second dates are rare.

Got Plans For Midnight? Cancel Them.
By: | November 6th, 2008

Get ready to get down, gamer geek style.

In terms of scale, brand recognition and raw selling power, two titles stand above the crowd of high profile games releasing in the pre-Christmas rush. I’m referring, of course, to Insomniac’s Resistance 2, released a couple of days ago and Epic’s Gears of War 2, releasing tomorrow.

The Penny Arcade games are what I call mini-RPGs, and episode two is obviously the sequel to episode one. In the game you take control of a character crafted by you, and then proceed to adventure with Gabe and Tycho of the famous Penny Arcade comic strip. If you haven’t heard of them, you should go check it out. The game is available on XBLA, PSN, Windows, MAC and Linux. For this review we will be focusing on the XBLA version, and I have not played the other version (although they are all the same game).

Age of Booty Review
By: | November 5th, 2008

Xbox Live Arcade has, in my opinion, always put out some quality strategy board games. Catan and Carcassorone are two of the best examples. With Capcom behind the publishing duties and some of former Bungie developers, this newly formed developer being Certain Affinity, doing the honors of creating Age of Booty to fans of the genre were eagerly anticipating the game would be putting it mildly. I am very happy to report that they delivered and then some.

XBLA: Braid Review
By: | November 4th, 2008

Braid has generated a lot of buzz over the past couple of years. I’ve been dying to play it ever since I first heard previews almost three years ago. Heck, it even won an award for innovation in design from the 2006 Independent Games Festival, despite not coming out until 2008. If ever an independent game has been hyped, it has been Braid. Of course, as with any hyped and long-awaited game, the question everyone is asking is “Was it worth the wait?”
