Every developer wants to see their games title plastered on billboards, in T.V. commercials, and even on soda cans, but few do. But there definitely are some that do. Overhyped games don’t mean they are bad or destined for failure, it just means they simply have raised expectations from fans. Fans expect more from a game that they hear and see everywhere. When hyping a game, there are levels. Simple word of mouth can start a tremendous wave of hype. Word of mouth can potentially be the worst kind of hype. When it’s passed from this guy who knows that guy who trust the other guy, people believe it. But also there’s the simple 50 million dollars spent to do everything possible to get a game in to gamers dreams.

This list is a list of this generations most over hyped games, good or bad. This list is not all inclusive. There are simply too many games that get an extraordinary amount of hype that the list could go on forever. Microsoft has the New Xbox Experience ready for you,
but are you ready for it?

November 19th has finally come around and Microsoft has so graciously bestowed the New Xbox Experience (NXE) on its customers to, well, experience. It seems that many were not anticipating this change, not wanting to be ripped away from the old blade system that they have grown so fond of. Instead of complaining, you should know why the NXE is a step forward and not just the unwanted child of the Cross Media Bar and the Wii fridge.

XBLA: Vigilante 8 Review
By: | November 20th, 2008

I never got to play the original Vigilante 8 on the Playstation 1 back in 1998 so I didn’t have the weight of nostalgia on my back when picking up this arcade release to review. I was looking forward to it as I knew a great deal of people hold the game in high regard. After putting a few hours into the game modes available I can safely say that I am not among the legions of fans.

Xbox 360: Fable 2 Review
By: | November 19th, 2008

Fable 2 is a game of limitless possibilities where each of your choices has some kind of effect on the world around you. At least that’s what Lionhead wants it to be, fortunately this game comes way closer than Fable 1 did.  Fable 2 tries and really succeeds to keep you immersed in the world of Albion for as long as your willing to be.  This game has a ton of social interactions and choices you can make as the player to stretch the gameplay out, but that is my main complaint about the game, you as the player have to work to make the game last any length of time.

Call Of Duty: World At War Review
By: | November 14th, 2008

Everyone knows that the World War II shooter genre is played out more than Soulja Boy’s lame opinion on anything gaming, but that didn’t stop Treyarch from returning to the genre. Treyarch is last known for the huge disappointment known as Call of Duty 3. Well they have been given the reigns to the franchise again, hoping to redeem themselves by fixing their mistakes. Many took that as impossible when it was announced they would return to World War II after Infinity Ward brought modern combat to the series. Infinity Ward gave the franchise a much needed revitalization and breath of fresh air. The perks and prestige levels gave the played out first person shooter genre an RPG feel. Call of Duty 4 was a massive success and now Treyarch is looking to capitalize on that crowd.
