A month and a half ago we told you about Sega’s new teaser site, something called Project Ringo. Do you remember? Probably not, I’d almost forgotten myself. They left it without any further information, leaving us completely in the dark. Well all that is about to change as next week we’ll know more.

When the dust settles on the single player campaign and you put down the controller you realise you have just been part of something very special. Killzone 2 may not be the most innovative title you’ve ever seen, but it is the most polished shooter of this generation, standing heads and shoulders above its competitors in almost every area that matters.

The first epic dropship ride down to the surface of Helghan is just a taste of the visceral thrill ride than Killzone 2 has in store, when things are hectic in Killzone, you’ll find you barely have any time to think, grenades explode around you, your ISA comrades scream for support, the Helghast bear down on you with deadly intent, smoke from countless fires will obscure your vision, debris showers down on you after a stray rocket pounds into the building beside you. This game immerses you in a brutal conflict with no subtlety, Helghan is hellish. Read more… »

battlenet

In a sign that Starcraft 2 or Diablo 3 are on the release path for this year, Blizzard has unveiled the new Battle.net system.

A complete revamp of the original online matchmaking system, BN 2.0 combines a steam-like game registration and downloading system, allowing people to “register” the CD-Keys of any multiplayer enabled Blizzard title. Once registered and stored on an account, the games can be downloaded and installed at will, which will be welcome news to anyone with old and busted Starcraft, Diablo or Warcraft 3 discs.

Fancy yourself a hunter?
By: | March 22nd, 2009

hunter

The Hunter, developed by Avalanche Studios (the creators of Just Cause), promises to be the most true-to-life simulation of buck hunting ever designed. With a mixture of different gaming features, from social networking to online play, The Hunter provides a sandbox island where patience and careful planning win out over run and gun play.

The game is just recently out in Open Beta, utilizing the same “login to play” system alongside ID Software (Quake Live) and EA (Battlefield Heroes). It’s currently free to play after making an account and grabbing a 400mb file from download. From the brief moment of play I’ve had, the presentation is nothing short of stunning. Birds fly in random patterns, deer sniff the air and scratch themselves. The graphics are phenomenal for such a small install, so it’s definitely worth a look.

ghostbusters

In regards to the new Ghostbusters video game at least. Wow this game has had it’s share of controversy! First, Activision completely abandons it in favor of milking established franchises, Rick Moranis refuses to come back because he’s retired, yet also busy doing voice acting work for Disney’s Brother Bear 1 and 2, and then Sigourney Weaver refuses to sign on because she thought “the game wouldn’t be of high quality”. She changed her mind a bit too late it seems, as Atari has already replaced her with Milano.

Ghostbusters has come a long way since Akyrod’s original idea of a “time traveling SWAT troupe with wands who battle ghosts”. Let’s hope the game does the original movie justice!
