Open beta begins Thursday for World of Battles: Morningstar. To kick it off, developer Frogwares has released the above video. Much can be gleaned from a trailer such as this — World of Battles: Morningstar is a Real Time Strategy (RTS) game. It offers many customizations that allow the player to really tailor the experience to his or her style. There are a variety of fantastic and less fantastic creatures that you get to control in heated battle  (8 to be exact).

Arguably, the surprising thing about this trailer is that the game looks good, F2P or no. I’ll leave it up to you decide whether it has the power to steer you away from Starcraft II or League of Legends for a prolonged period of of time; but at the price point of zero, where’s the risk of trying out new IP?

Yes, it’s that time of year again when Activision roll out the first reveal trailer of the next Call of Duty game ready for release in November. This time it’s Modern Warfare 3, and it’s a predictable affair: real-life locations have come under siege, husky soldiers riot through sprawling urban locations guns blazing, and helicopters crash and explode with cinematic bombast. And not to be outdone by Battlefield 3, it too has a falling skyscraper shot straight out of Transformers 3.

The trailer also hints at the game’s globe-trotting locations which includes the likes of Germany, France and England which is a refreshing change from the Middle East.

Set your sights on the first gameplay reveal of Modern Warfare 3 after the jump.

Red 5 Studios released a new trailer Friday for the highly anticipated PC shooter Firefall. This trailer gives us insight on the PvP action and classes we can expect from this first person/third person hybrid.

Riding on the comet tail of this trailer is the announcement that Red 5 will be hosting a live streaming event next week to show off more PvP action. Gamer Limit has all the details.

Battlefield 3 is getting a lot  love on Facebook, with approximately 781,000 likes as of this article’s publication. This is accelerated no doubt by EA and DICE’s  promise to release a full 12 minute gameplay trailer once they reach 1,000,000. You don’t have to wait that long. The trailer is out and Gamer Limit has it for you.

Perhaps EA and DICE were too excited, perhaps they had certain PR deadlines that just needed to be met. In any case, it’s a win for fans and gamers in general. It must be noted that the trailer with commentary is yet to be unlocked. That won’t stop you from enjoying this eye popping video, however. If you have never gotten your hands on any of the games in the Battlefield series, this trailer may motivate you to do so in anticipation of this beauteous game.

Fair warning — not safe for work language is included in this video ahead.

I described this trailer in the news mashup. It’s much better if you see it yourself. THQ and Volition Inc.’s April fools joke came one day early, which is smart when you think about it. Catch ‘em when they least expect it. Cheers to Saints Row: The Third.

The last news mash-up came like a real bad hangover right after new years. This one is somewhat of a hangover, if you’re the type to drink on a Wednesday (on which I pass no judgment; I’ve been there). Let’s begin, shall we?

Have you guys heard of The Secret World before? You might have heard of it by its former working titles: Cabal or The World Online. It’s an upcoming MMORPG that’s being developed by Funcom, and they just released some new footage.

Following on from the initial teaser trailer, EA has posted an all new video teaser of the upcoming Battlefield 3. The crucial difference this time, however, is that it contains actual gameplay footage from the game, showing glimpses of the new urban city environments and Frostbite 2.0 destruction.

What do you think of that, Activision?

After riling its PC fanbase with the cancellation of Battlefield 1943 and Onslaught, DICE seem keen to swiftly make amends as today marks the first peek at Battlefield 3, the official successor to the highly influential PC hit Battlefield 2 from 2005.

Hot on the release of Gran Turismo 5, Forza Motorsport 4 has been announced in a new debut trailer from VGA 2010.

Details are scarce at the moment other than the fact it will launch in “Fall 2011″.

Note to Polyphony: it’s taken six years for Turn 10 to churn out four Forza Motorsports compared to five Gran Turiusmos in 14 years.

It’s looking like 2011 will be the centre of the big three for Sony, as Resistance 3 joins Killzone 3 and Uncharted 3 in next year’s first party line-up.

We’ve known about Resistance 3 for some time now, but VGA 2010 produced not only the very first gameplay footage in a debut trailer, but also confirmed that the Chimera’s next attack is scheduled for September 6th 2011.

It’s been three years now since Resistance 2, and the original was an important launch title for the PlayStation 3 – is it just me who misses this franchise?

As promised earlier this week, the VGA 2010 saw the premiere of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, showing the full version of the teaser trailer.

The trailer also revealed the release date will be November 1st 2011. And before you ask: yes that is indeed actual gameplay footage near the end. Excited yet?
