[Hello and welcome to another salivating edition of The Week in News, your reliable resource of gratifying gaming news brought to you by Gamer Limit.]

It’s time for some more Sunday shenanigans as I unravel the tidings of the past week into one marvellous meat feast.

But then you Americans will already be far too full after gorging yourselves with copious amounts of turkey over Thanksgiving. For the rest of us however, a healthy helping of news summaries awaits you after the break.

In a shocking turn of events, this week was the centre of a lawsuit that didn’t involve Jack Thompson, as Datal, the people responsible for those bloated third party memory cards and defunct cheat devices, decided to take on Microsoft. David and Goliath, anyone? And then, as if we hadn’t already heard enough about it, Microsoft remained unashamedly confident over their prized creation that is Natal, essentially touting it as the second coming for joypads as we know it.

Over on the other side of the fence however, Sony has been up to no good. Fanboys across the globe have always revelled in the fact that their PS3’s online service has been free of charge, but this might be about to change with the arrival of SOS, a new upcoming online scheme designed to encompass the entire Sony family of electronics. Sony attempted to console the wretched fanboys with lies by saying the core online experience will still be free, but this didn’t stop them from weeping furiously – the end of the PSN as we know it is nigh.

The developers of an MMO I don’t particularly care for, Aion for those that do, were also feeling scandalous after they went on an inflammatory banning spree, ridding the community of 16,000 clones of jobless middle aged men. The publishing industry also felt the brunt of the colossal internets as glorious websites like us continued to cause havoc by making magazines redundant. Shame on us.

Elsewhere, Christmas came early this week as the gaming industry has started to spread some good cheer in the form of free DLC for Need For Speed: Shift and Uncharted 2. Nintendo even offered some more bundles preloaded with installed games which nobody wants for the DSi. More free DLC please!

We have all rightfully grown to loathe game movie tie-ins, and this trend was only set to continue with the insulting new trailer for The King of Fighters. Surprisingly, Uwe Boll was nowhere to be seen as of yet. Yes, you knew I had to throw his name in somewhere. Moving on, if there has ever been a reason for buying a game, then puerile sightings of bare buttocks could soon be a good one.

Still awake? Good, because it’s time for the laundry list of announcements now: Just Cause 2 will be grappling onto your consoles next March, along with the invasion of a zombie MMO and some riveting action packed puzzle game.

And finally…

The DeLorean DMC-12 is the definition of cool.

That’s all folks! Don’t forget to start your own blog with us and you shall be rewarded with glorious goodies. Or you can donate moneys to us for the good people of the Piece of Heart charity and watch Gamer Limit take part in our epic gaming marathon next weekend.

[Hello and welcome to another rousing edition of The Week in News, your reliable resource of gratifying gaming news brought to you by Gamer Limit.]

It’s Sunday night and that can only mean one thing – the new series of Top Gear has aired, which mean all is right with my world once more.

Did I also mention that I went to a certain Top Gear Live event? Well, I did and I even managed to gracefully touch posh cars with huge “do not touch” signs on them. Sorry, but this just had to be mentioned for I am still recovering from the excitement of it all and felt the need to inform you all.

Oh I’ve got to write this weekly news roundup thing, haven’t I? Very well then.

To be perfectly honest, I’m not sure if this week’s roundup warrants a lengthy summary as I believe I can fully summarise it in just a few words: Modern Warfare 2. Yes, the only news that mattered was the arrival of this most treasured of titles that upset scores of people who don’t want to be corrupted by evil fictional acts of fictional terrorism. This didn’t dissuade the rest of the world’s population from devouring it however, firmly sealing it in the history of mammoth game sales.

In other Modern Warfare news, supermarket chain Sainsbury’s decided to rebel against the greedy goblins of Activision by selling the game at the price of a loaf of bread. Their crusade was not quite as smooth as they envisioned, however, since many players were unable to sooth their fix after the servers failed to handle the colossal strain and, as a result, the world came to a crying standstill. This led to a rise in cybercrime, but justice was soon served and some bedroom bound buffoons committed further illegal atrocities with some hardcore hacking.

Mercifully, there was a miniscule drop of other news as the anticipated release date for the one game that RPG fans have been craving for since the dawn of the PS3 finally arrived. Suffice to say, I can’t say I share share the excitement of enduring spiky haired protagonists for a 13th time.

Laborious recession news now; EA were the latest victim to feel the bite of the economic gloom and doom with 17% of staff allegedly up for the chop. Cue the obligatory “dey took our jobs!” chant.

Elsewhere, it seems that Project Natal, Microsoft’s answer to virtual reality, might not be quite as extortionately priced as we all thought and Xbox Live will soon be offering digital Bibles for those that feel the need to wash away the sins of buying a 360.

In the declining digital world in which we inhabit, it has become apparent that many insufferable teenagers would be unable to live without a service known as Facebook. Nosing in on other people’s tagged photographs and personal wall comments have become a necessity in everyday life and, keen to captialise on this, Sony announced that it will be incorporating Facebook into the PSN. Joy of joys.

Lastly, here’s a trailer of Resident Evil: The Darkest Chronicles to munch on – go fetch!

And finally…

Celebrations were in order after Gamer Limit became a year old. Happy birthday to us!

That’s all folks! Thanks as always for reading – start your own blog with us and we’ll love you forever and supply you with free goodies.

[Hello and welcome to another delicious edition of The Week in News, your reliable resource of gratifying gaming news brought to you by Gamer Limit.]

A thousand apologies are in order for the sinful absence of The Week in News last week, but there is an explanation: there was no news. Well, the reality was that some certain staff members were far too busy having fun and frolics at iDEF and Eurogamer to report on anything worthwhile last week, but how and ever.

But fear not however, as normal service has now been resumed – read on for this week’s scathing news roundup. It is your destiny.

Modern Warfare 2 is shaping up to be not only one of the year’s most eagerly anticipated games, but also one of the most controversial. First it managed to rile PC gamers with its lack of dedicated servers and then it was revealed that the game will act as a training ground for aspiring terrorists, or at least that’s what Jack Thompson will undoubtedly proclaim. But then it committed the most heinous crime of all – PC buyers will have to endure being chained to that most loveable of clients, Steam. This in turn enraged digital distributors Direct2Drive and GamesGate, who refused to even stock the game. Ooo controversy!

All was forgiven however after Infinity Ward delivered a delicious new trailer, which was, predictably, a glorious spectacle of things blowing up and husky Americans shouting a lot. Oh, and infernal rap music courtesy of Eminem.

Also, in an earth shatteringly surprising announcement, Call of Duty won’t be settling down for retirement any time soon, and neither will Guitar Hero, shamefully. The same couldn’t be said for LittleBigPlanet, however, but I for one must praise Media Molecule for favouring quality over quantity unlike some developers.

Speaking of which, Guitar Hero’s estranged cousin DJ Hero failed to persuade the usually willing UK crowd to part with their cash, resulting in a disastrous performance in the charts. Is this a sign that the current fashion trend of plastic instruments is starting to phase out? Well, apparently not, since Actvision have already filed their next tactic to incessantly rip you off with Drum Hero. What’s next? Harmonica Hero? Or perhaps a game that will actually teach you how to play a legitimate instrument? How perverse such an idea would be – the plastic peripherals shall always prevail.

Elsewhere, the president of Nintendo voiced his displeasure over the rousing debate of digital distribution by stating that, in a world of iPhones and internets, it will take 20 years before it achieves world domination. RedLynx proved they are more in touch with the modern world however, spitting in the faces of feckless pirates by playing a commendable practical joke that involved pirating their own game. The payoff? Gleeful geeks ended up with a game devoid of leader boards, thus proving that RedLynxe have cold and vengeful hearts.

I must admit that I don’t hold myself as a particular fan of fighting games, but even I am becoming strangely attracted to Street Fighter 4. And now it’s going to include archaic bonus stages that involve wrecking cars, so how could I resist? Another thing I will admit to is that I am a complete sucker for collectibles and limited editions, and Mass Effect 2 is the latest to be bundled in a glossy “limited edition” tin. And no, before you ask, I’m not quite mad enough to contemplate buying the coveted edition of Modern Warfare 2 for a pair of useless night vision goggles.

It’s trailer time again, and this week we were treated with a glimpse of the new belated Prince of Persia film and a potential sleeper hit with Darksiders. And then we were introduced to this little monstrosity, only on Nintendo Wii of course. I’m talking about Wiiwaa, an evil puppet that seemingly teaches puny children it’s OK to shove their Wii-mote down their throats.

And finally…

Have you ever wanted to witness our resident Simon Jones dance like a buffoon? Why of course you have.

That’s all folks! As always, be sure to show your love for Gamer Limit by starting your own blog with us and we shall reward you with copious gifts.

[Hello and welcome to another exquisite edition of The Week in News, your reliable resource of gratifying gaming news brought to you by Gamer Limit.]

Another Sunday has dawned, which means it’s once again time for me to carefully compile every last titbit of gaming news into one bite-sized morsel.

Then again, here in the UK most people will be too busy hurling stones at Mr. Nick Griffin to care for the real world issues that await you after the break. Hurrah for irrelevant topical reference!

All hell is set to break loose come this November when Modern Warfare 2 finally erupts, but some soldiers won’t be too keen to join the PC army after a bombshell hit the dedicated servers. As a result, at the time of writing over 150,000 crying players left messages of contempt over Infinity Ward’s sacrilege in an online petition. Come to think of it, when was the last time a petition actually had any effect on anything? I signed up to make Jeremy Clarkson Prime Minister but that didn’t work, and Infinity Ward certainly seems to be standing their ground on the battlefield.

Still, if all else fails you always have the option to bludgeon your monitor to death with your keyboard if you dare to read the system requirements of Modern Warfare 2. Or if you are as health and safety conscious as Sony, why not go one step further and produce an expensive contraption that will slingshot your new PS3 into a Sony Bravia plasma television? Whilst I feel sorry for the plasma casualty, I can’t help but let out a murmur of excitement over such wanton destruction like the small child that I am.

In other news, the stubborn, petulant child that is Left 4 Dead 2 still won’t go away – I for one am becoming emphatically bored of reporting on it, to be honest. Want to guess what it’s done this time? No, you’d be wrong as it’s only gone and got itself expelled in the form of an Australian ban. Again. Still, there’s always the censored version and, whilst we’re talking about paranormal activity, a new trailer was also leaked in conjunction with the good news.

Meanwhile, a gentleman who has a penchant for overhyping undeserved games thought it would be a good idea to list his pick of innovative games – approach with caution. To be honest, it was about as believable as the news that Need For Speed had managed to speed past the 100 million milestone. Yes, the series that is solely responsible for turning herds of teenagers into tasteless drones that will stop at nothing to butcher cars with ungainly body kits is still growing strong, sadly.

Q-Games are not a happy developer. Thanks to the pirates that sail the open seas of the interweb, PSP owners may not be seeing any more future ports. That would be a crying shame indeed, and I am of the opinion that pirates should be wholly ashamed of such dastardly deeds. Really, I am.

Slapdash journalism was also apparent this week, with a report from ABC that claimed excessive play time with games will lead to great pain. In other words, video games have once again been billed as highly dangerous. Oh dear. Unfortunately, Transmission Games, the people who brought you earth shatteringly mainstream titles such as Ashes Cricket 2009, were also the latest games developers to close its doors and so to brighten the tone, here are some videos of demented Japanese women playing video games.

Alternatively, there was the fantastic news of Band Hero’s soundtrack to strengthen our spirits. In fact, I was so excited to receive this enlightening news that I proceeded to regurgitate my innards as a result of the excess sugar. Can you tell how much I want this game?

I was equally distressed from the announcement of the closure of the classic Calling All Cars. Why didn’t anyone play this magnificent gem of a game? How I miss the days of squealing “oh my god it’s a hot potato!” in an eccentric Irish accent.

Just about everyone on this planet is playing Uncharted 2 right now bar me, and so to rub salt into the wounds Naughty Dog swiftly announced that DLC will soon be on its way. Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising was also set to follow suit by jumping onto the DLC bandwagon.

To wrap things up, here are a few release date announcements and videos for you to chew on. Movie tie-in Avatar was granted a December release date, the part horror/action/survival FPS Metro 2033 was showcased in a trailer and the gravity defying Inversion was announced. Finally, the retro remake Rocket Knight was confirmed to be receiving a thorough scrape and polish for its next generation incarnation.

And finally…

Here is a poignant reminder of how the seemingly innocent Wii can be more harmful than it led you to believe; especially to plasma televisions.

That’s all folks! As always, thanks for reading and don’t forget to check out our sparkling giveaways every Monday. Failing that, you should always feel compelled to start your own fancy blog with us unless you want me to throw stones at you.

[Hello and welcome to another electrifying edition of The Week in News, your reliable resource of gratifying gaming news brought to you by Gamer Limit every Sunday. Feel free to check out our full schedule right here!]

The Week in News is here once again to deliver an invaluable service to you, our fellow readers, by grinding every nugget of gaming news into one easy to swallow summary. All you have to do is sift through the bevy of blue hyperlinks which have been painstakingly amassed by yours truly.

As a result, your weekly news roundup awaits you in the usual place – yes you guessed it, after the jump!

It’s been a rather sombre week I’m afraid, as the legendary Captain Lou Albano, a.k.a. former WWE star and frontman of the Super Mario Bros Super Show, died at age 76. Once again, Gamer Limit sends their condolences to the Albano family. Our very own Nick Simberg even made a tribute song in light of the event, but I think I’ll go and dust off my old Super Mario Bros Super Show VHS. R.I.P. Lou Albano.

In more positive news, the Left 4 Dead 2 boycott saga finally came to an end this week after Gabe’s fleeting visit to the land of Australia. So there you have it, after weeks of hogging our news items the activists finally succumbed to Gabe’s menacing charms, but you have to wonder if Valve will stick to their promised regime. Afterall, they have certainly been consistent with their negligence of developing anything for the PS3, which remained true for Left 4 Dead 2 much to my dismay.

Ah yes, the treacherous tabloids of Great Englandland have been at it again, once again confirming that they don’t have even a modicum of integrity. According to the highly reputable source that is the Daily Star, the prestigious night vision goggles that are to be bundled with Modern Warfare 2 will turn you into a sadistic pervert – can you say facepalm?

Speaking of Modern Warfare 2, those who were looking forward to some co-op action may be disappointed to learn that Infinity Ward felt this would extinguish the merit of the main campaign mode. Fortunately all was not lost however, as a dedicated “special ops” mode was revealed, but PC fans soon felt the need to go on a rampage of their own after the crushing news that dedicated servers will not be present for the PC version. But then let’s face it, everyone is going to flock to buy this game no matter what they charge.

In other news, the PS3 Bulimic is to receive some much needed bulk after a successful 250GB hard drive transplant. This is fine for people who aren’t aware of the benefits of fitting custom hard drives, but what players have really been crying out for is the rather rudimentary feature of cross-game voice chatting. But wait! This could soon be a reality if the posting of an alleged Naughty Dog employee is to be believed.

I can think of more than a few ways to describe the Nintendo Wii, but “terrorist detector” was certainly not one of them. Well, apparently the Wii Balance Board could well be utilised in such a way for airport security, as opposed to its usual purpose of mocking podgy gentleman.

It was raining bricks this week, what with the announcement of Lego Indiana Jones 2 and the unveiling of Lego Rock Band’s all too predictable soundtrack. Can you smell the shameful gimmickry?

YOU THERE! Buy a PSP. No, for once those are not my words but those of Mr. Hideo Kojima, as apparently the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Peacemaker will feature something so fantastic it will implore you to buy a PSP. But with his usual sense of secrecy, the said feature has yet to be disclosed – that man certainly knows how to tease us.

The avenue of game adaptation movies looks like it could be extending next year with the possibility of an inFAMOUS film, but I am once again mindful of it falling into the grubby hands of Uwe Boll – we really don’t want that to happen. 2010 is also now set to be the launch period of the almighty Mass Effect 2. Delicious.

It’s video time now, starting with some tasty gameplay footage of the eerily life like Heavy Rain. If that’s not enough, then we were also treated to the likes of a trailer for the new Alien vs Predator, a first look at the God of War Collection and some tantalising screenshots for Command and Conquer 4. Finally, most of you are aware by now of my abject fear of all things Japanese but Pokepark took things to another level – how can you not feel intimidated by an eccentric Japanese person in a scary Chimchar suit?

And finally…

Have you ever felt your controller was too comfortable? Well, help is at hand as you can now make it catastrophically cumbersome by morphing it into a Samurai. It makes perfect sense.

That’s all folks! Thanks for reading and don’t forget to take part in our generous giveaways every Monday. Did I mention that you can also start your own blog with us?

[Hello and welcome to another exciting edition of The Week in News, your reliable resource of gratifying gaming news brought to you by Gamer Limit.]

It’s Sunday which of course means one thing for Gamer Limit – it’s time for me to dissect the events of the past week in gaming into one humble suet pudding of an article.

Can you stomach it all in one momentous mouthful?

If you happen to be Australian and have a craving for Left 4 Dead 2, then you haven’t exactly been in luck. In fact, you weren’t even scheduled to receive it at all, but now things are looking somewhat brighter. Yes, the world’s most conservative classification board has finally done the right thing and granted Left 4 Dead 2 a classification, but sadly there is a small drawback – it’s Manhunt 2 all over again as there are now talks of Australia receiving a watered down version instead.

So I’m sorry Australia, but it looks like your experience of Left 4 Dead 2 will amount to issuing zombies with affectionate hugs as opposed to devious disembowelment. Still, it could be worse, as things are not much better if you live in China. They don’t believe in video games.

Earlier this week, Gamer Limit was struck by an endearing mystery in the form of an unconventional marketing campaign. With just a blood stricken postcard to go by, we didn’t even know what game the advertisement was for, but can you help solve the mystery?

Some detective work also revealed a trademark filing for a sequel that has no doubt caused great excitement. I am talking of course about Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands – excited yet?

Meanwhile, Microsoft has conformed to the 21st century bandwagon that is Twitter, so now you can broadcast your escapades of furious online gaming to the entire world. Am I the only soul who hasn’t been pulled into Twitter’s tractor beam? Elsewhere in the land of the internet, Amazon.com launched its own Playstation Network Store for no conceivable reason whatsoever.

Now, I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t exactly warm to the PS3’s 3.0 update, much to the dismay of N4G’s fanbase, but it never occurred to me that I should seek legal action. John Kennedy largely disagreed however, and did just that. I’m sure Sony is suitably scared of such a prospect, but what is more alarming is their denial that hardly anyone has adopted a poor PSP Go in Europe.

Online retailers managed to grasp the console’s shortcomings however, namely its’ astronomical RRP, and quickly slashed the price as a result in a bid to finally sell the struggling console. I still see no discernible reason to buy one however, as it’s clearly too costly for prospective new adopters and it will only appeal to existing owners who have more money than sense.

Polyphony were once again keen to demonstrate their capabilities of crafting perfect pornographic material for cars this week, this time utilising Toyota’s latest model, the buxom FT-86. Mmm, drool.

Elsewhere, in a surprise announcement it seems as though we might finally be able to live out a lifelong fantasy in an upcoming game – who hastn’t wanted to be Jack the Ripper? For the more tame at heart, there is always the upcoming Jak and Daxter and the timeless classic Oddworld which I haven’t played in about 10 years. Oh how I used to laugh at their gastric flatulence.

The Week in News is drawing to a close, so as usual I thought I would leave you with the usual benign basket of video fruits. Firstly, we’ve got a trailer for Taito’s enthralling shoot em up Darius Burst for the PSP, along with the power up centric Blur and a new multiplayer trailer for Brutal Legend; as if there is anyone on this planet who isn’t aware of Jack Black’s starring video game debut of a man with truly savage biceps.

And finally…

By this point you are probably wondering just what the 3000 in this week’s headline signified. Well ,celebrations were in order after Gamer Limit reached a new mammoth milestone of 3000 posts, complete with a special monument featuring all of our ugly mugs. No, it’s not over 9000 yet but we’re working on it.

That’s all folks! Don’t forget to spend your time productively by starting your own prestigious blog with us and be sure to check out our weekly giveaways every Monday because we clearly love you more than anyone else.

[Hello and welcome to another super edition of The Week in News, your reliable resource of gratifying gaming news brought to you by Gamer Limit. Feel free to check out our full schedule right here!]

Another spiffing week has passed, meaning it is once again time to rummage through the super findings of the past week.

Join me after the break for this week’s all important scathing news roundup!

Fighting fans were in for a super treat this week, as Super Street Fighter IV was finally unveiled to its rejoicing fanboys. Not only that, but a tantalising trailer was also released which served to showcase the game’s myriad of brightly coloured characters – too bad you will all have to wait until next Spring to finally meet them. Not to be outdone, Namco also stepped into the ring with a new flurry of viral advertisements for Tekken 6, where lots of things happen in super slow motion.

Meanwhile, in the real world Fisher Price managed to kill every 7 year old’s Wii after a tragic firmware update, which isn’t too dissimilar to Sony’s recent escapades. But fear not as, crippled with remorse, they offered to revive your deceased console completely free of charge if you live in the US or UK.

In other news, social outcast Jack Thompson once again made us all laugh and direct our palms firmly onto our faces. What has he done now you ask? Well, deliberately avoiding the realms of common sense, he only went and sued social networking king Facebook.

Actually, the man has a point this time – I wholeheartedly despair being mercilessly tagged in unwanted photographs. Also, something tells me that Jack would get along all too well with Australian activist Michael Atkinson, who displayed some glaring examples of wanton ignorance over the never ending video game violence debate. Can you imagine if they were locked in a room together?

Over in Americaland, some 200 locations were affected by the closure of games retailer Game Crazy. Heartbreaking news indeed, but we were all soon warmed up by an emerging love story between Valve’s Gabe Newell and a manic boycotter who felt considerably unloved. After much careful persuasion, as well as cold hard cash, the good hearted Gabe booked the first flight to Australia in order to visit his new love interest, all in the name of obtaining good publicity for Left 4 Dead 2. How’s that for devotion?

Last year Spore delivered an interesting gaming premise, but is it movie material? Blue Sky Studios certainly seem to think so, but given appalling standard of video game movies to date, I’m not as enthusiastic about such a project. But then let’s look on the bright side as, presumably, Uwe Boll won’t be defecating on it, meaning it is less likely to be overrun with genetically handicapped creatures with giant genitals.

It’s glorious trailer time now, starting with Pixar’s latest movie Ratchet and Clank Future which is looking as spectacular as ever. Elsewhere, a stack of release dates were to be found such as the loveable LittleBigPlanet on PSP and Trine for the US, along with further announcements of episodic content for Fable II, an alternative version of Resident Evil 5 and some expansions for Elven Legacy which reached new heights of business sense.

Elsewhere, Battlefield 1943 will finally be invading your PC for a very tidy price of admission. Or if that doesn’t excite your taste buds, how about an upcoming beta for Star Wars: The Old Republic?

And finally…

Did you know that the PSP Go launched this week? Well, nobody seemed to really give a damn which would imply that you all ignored my heartfelt appeal last week to adopt a needy PSP Go.

That’s all folks! Don’t forget that Gamer Limit loves you to the point that we provide an assortment of giveaways every week and actively encourage you to start your own blog with us. Do it. You know it makes sense.

This week we take a trip to Japan, a land of scary cartoons and, more importantly, where a certain game show took place – I am referring, of course, to the almighty Tokyo Game Show.

So join me as I sift through this momentous event, along with everything else that happened during the past week in the world of gaming. Sitting comfortably?

Before we head over to Tokyo, I feel that I need to make an urgent appeal to everyone about a poor deprived console that is in desperate need of a home, for it seems that our cruel world is not going to be too welcoming to the arrival of Sony’s newborn child, the PSP Go. The miniature console hasn’t even escaped Sony’s wretched womb, and yet the unloving EB Games Australia has refused to even stock it. They aren’t the only adoptive parents to refuse it, either. Funny that, but then I did warn you.

Honestly, only a mother could love this child. Not only is it an embarrassing eyesore, but it is already squabbling over its food by stubbornly rejecting our wholesome collection of UMDs. Still, Sony are already in the process of constructing a tacky looking virtual house for the lost console – but can you adopt a PSP Go and provide it with the tender love and care it really needs?

Ok, now that’s out of the way let’s get onto some real news. Everyone’s favourite Fisher Price toy, the Wii, received a healthy price cut this week, and can now be yours for $199, which was coincidentally announced right after both Microsoft and Sony dropped the price of their creations.

Gran Turismo 5 is every racing enthusiast’s embodiment of a wet dream, so you can only imagine my despair when I learnt that it won’t be in my decrepit hands until March 2010. March 2010? Perhaps I will freeze myself in the hope of speeding up time.

Polyphony’s racing sim continued to dominate this week after its damage system was shown in more graphic detail, which was encouraging. Furthermore, a pornographic film featuring a Ferrari and GT5‘s ridiculously realistic graphics surfaced onto the Internet, but, not to be outdone, Forza 3 also made its own sensual film which did little to fan the fanboy flames.

The Playstation’s new Motion controller also took centre stage at the Tokyo Game Show, as Sony were keen to remind us of its existence. Not only will it allegedly be available next spring, but a whole plethora of supported games were announced, including LittleBigiPlanet and Ape Escape. Ah I remember Ape Escape back in the ancient PS1 days where bagging monkeys was one of life’s most simple pleasures. The latest design of the controller also showed how it has progressed since E3 – I didn’t know Sony made electric erasers?

In other news, Second Life has wasted many innocent lives but now it also turns out that those who spend hours encaged in their virtual lives have huge disposable incomes – $1 billion worth, in fact.

Some juicy news now, as it looks as if Sony will not be best pleased with SEGA after they leaked a top secret document that detailed Sony’s plans to release every available PS2 game onto the PSN for download. So now we know that you can’t trust SEGA to keep a secret. Speaking of sharing, in a statement of good will Netflix decided to spread their joy to everyone, by hinting that their video streaming service will be making its way onto other consoles besides the selfish Xbox 360.

Screenshot time now, and what could be better than some Crackdown 2 to gorge over? Or if that doesn’t arouse your taste buds, then how about a subtle hint of Uncharted 3?

Evidently, you can’t get enough of sequels at the moment, because Bioshock 2 was also issued with a release date along with Assassins Creed II for the DS and the New Super Fat Italian Plumber for the Wii. Sadly however, as if I wasn’t already reeling from GT5’s release date, newcomer Blur failed to make the party on time and was delayed until sometime next year. Bah.

A good Week in News post wouldn’t be complete without the odd trailer or two, which is why I can treat you to some newly released spectacles of The Last Guardian and the animated debut of Halo Legends, although I for one will be shielding my eyes from the scary scary anime.

And finally…

If you fancy yourself as a Street Fighter fanboy then your life will be incomplete until you pick up this unique piece of tat.

That’s all folks! Don’t worry, The Week in News shall be returning next week, so until then don’t forget to start your own blog and take part in our fabulous giveaways. You won’t regret it.

[Hello and welcome to The Week in News, your premier news roundup delivered to you by Gamer Limit every Sunday.]

Once again, The Week in News is here to provide a service of paramount importance – to keep you, our loyal readers, up to date with the juiciest news that have been bombarding the interweb over the past week.

So what are you waiting for? Hit the jump for a definitive overview of this week’s biggest failures.

This week was the source of many unfortunate failures, starting with our Australian friends who were left seething after Left 4 Dead 2 felt the full force of what has to be the most stringent and out of touch classification board in the world. Seriously, do they not know the meaning of “fun” and “entertainment?” Even the developers shared their disapproval of the pedantic system.

Sony’s PSP Go is proving to be one of the most dreaded console launches in recent history. Nedgame, one of the Netherland’s biggest game retailers, refused to even show its ugly face to the public on launch, which is hardly surprising given that it won’t make them any money as I previously forecasted. And whilst we are on the subject of failed launches, good luck with starting up your preordered copy of Aion.

In other news, Anne Robinson’s ghastly face was the symbol of delicious controversy this week, after the BBC’s conspiracy programme Watchdog became overly keen to highlight the fact that manufactured appliances do break down every once in a while. What they did was take the recurring issue of the PS3’s yellow light of death and do what the media does best – blow it out of all conceivable proportions.

Yes, the PS3’s hardware failures are indeed a problem (I have even been a victim of it myself on my birthday of all days) but it has been said that the failure rate only amounts to 0.5%, which is insignificant compared to the Xbox 360’s infamous red rings of death that supposedly struck a quarter of all consoles. The report was at least partially enlightening, as apparently the solution to fixing a PS3 was very simple – all you have to do is stick it in an oversized oven.

The PS3’s ongoing battle with bulimia seems to be improving, as Sony has decided to give it some much needed bulk with a new 250GB hard drive in a newly rumoured Uncharted 2 bundle. Who could resist such a tasty offer?

Elsewhere, Activision have retained their weekly fixture in this feature thanks to a certain Jon Bon Jovi, who entered the feud that erupted from Kurt Cobain being resurrected, and it was also revealed that he would never demoralise his name by appearing in a Guitar Hero game, no matter how much money Activision threw at him. Also, those who devalued Guitar Hero as a series that rotted the brains of gamers who believed they had become fully fledged musicians will dearly love the fact that real sheet music has been produced for the game series. Wait, instruments outside of Guitar Hero actually exist?

Now for the lazy section where I simply list a sample of game announcements and video trailers that cropped up over the past week. Extreme sports lunatics will no doubt rejoice over the announcement of Skate 3, but fans of the RPG Valkyria Chronicles were probably not so happy about the developer’s questionable choice to develop the sequel exclusively for the PSP. Still, if you own a PSP and still play it after all these years there is still the new Loco RoRoco to look forward, although I for one will not be playing it. It’s just too Japanese for my liking. The rather intriguing 3D Dot Heroes was also branded with a new trailer and Brutal Legend is set to be one of the downright coolest games of the year.

And finally…

Ever fancied a job in the games industry? All you have to do is obtain a first class Maths and Physics degree!

That’s all folks! Keep tuned in to Gamer Limit and we shall reward you with tantalising giveaways and free spotlight of those blogs you have been hard at work creating. See you next week!

[Hello and welcome to The Week in News, your weekly roundup of earth shattering gaming news brought to you by Gamer Limit every Sunday.]

Another Sunday has dawned, which can only mean one thing – it’s time to tear apart the past week and savour the cream of the crop of the latest video game shenanigans.

So join me after the break and let’s get started!

In recent years, Sonic has been brought up as a bit of a misfit. During his fleeting youth, he achieved mass popularity, but since he was adopted by future generations he was forced to conform to things he didn’t want to do.

The demands of these boisterous new consoles meant that Sonic had to uncomfortably merge into the three-dimensional platform and he was soon left with no friends, having alienated all of his peers. These were sad times indeed, but worry no more as Sonic is finally out to hopefully redeem himself. Enter Project Needlemouse, the top secret codename for the next instalment of the series that promises to rebirth the heinous hedgehog into the two-dimensional romp it once was. We’ll be waiting with bated breath.

Sega didn’t stop there either this week, after they formed a disturbing parallel universe whereby the Dreamcast didn’t die a miserable death afterall. Yes, that most cherished of 128 bit memories was revitalised in conjunction with the Dreamcast’s tenth anniversary in the form of a brand new Dreamcast exclusive game, Rush Rush Rally Racing. Which console do you want to see rise from the ashes next?

It’s almost as if Activision has a weekly fixture in this feature. Last week we read about their venture into bad taste with their plans to reincarnate the legendary Kurt Cobain, but this week a few people were not too impressed by such blatant blasphemy. Since its launch, former Nirvana band members, and even Cortney Love, expressed their vengeance towards the image of a ghostly Cobain singing You Give Love a Bad Name. Shame on you Activision, although I find the possibility of making Kurt sing his feelings towards Cortney a wonderfully comical endeavour, in a shamelessly tasteless fashion. But yes, shame on you Activision. Couldn’t you have waited 22.3 years?

In other news, Valve has started to fill Activision’s sacred shoes in spitting on their loyal fans. If you own an Xbox 360, then you are to be punished as they announced that some DLC for Left4Dead will only be free to PC users. As a result, this has enraged many fans of the series that have in turn started to boycott the sequel, Left 4 Dead 2. To solve this, Valve subsequently abducted a man with a beard and a podgy gentleman, i.e. the founding members, and soon made them see sense.

Of course, I couldn’t write a Week in News without some mention of Sony and their bulimic child. It seems as if they may well make a return on the vast amounts of Slim Fast that were used during its production, as the console has seen an astonishing 1000% increase in sales on launch. And as a generous free gift, metrosexual males who have been foaming at the mouth over Nathan Drake will finally be able to seek solace with a free multiplayer demo that is to be released at the end of this month.

The Japanese have scared me once again, as the alarmingly senseless Noby Noby will soon be making its way onto your iPhone – will there ever be a quintessentially Japanese game that won’t make me want to purge my innards with fear? Alternatively, I could always protest by gooing to war with them in a free new map pack for Call of Duty: World at War.

I probably haven’t set foot in a Toys R Us store for a good ten years, but there is now some possible incentive thanks to a new games trading deal that they have kindly instigated. Let’s just hope that it lasts longer than indie developer BottleRocket, who have sadly closed their doors for good. No, I haven’t heard of them either.

And finally…

Because of internet geeks, nothing is immune from leaking prematurely – not even the treasured dictionary for Scribblenaughts.

That’s all folks! Another Week in News has concluded and I can go to bed (yes I probably live in a different time zone to you) ready for another fulfilling Monday morning, safe with the knowledge that you have been given your supply of weekly news to gorge on. Unfortunately, you will have to suffer the hardship of waiting a whole week until the next edition, so why not start your own blog to make the time go by faster? And don’t forget, we’re so nice that we give away nice things on a weekly basis.

[Hello and welcome to The Week in News, your weekly source of gaming news nuggets served to you by Gamer Limit every Sunday!]

Yes, it really is that time of the week again where a copious amount of filling is condensed into one easy to digest sandwich of an article for you lucky readers.

Your roundup of this week’s news events awaits you after the break.

This week proved to be another Sony centric week with the release of the new 3.0 firmware update for the PS3, but, as is all too frequent with Sony these days, it wasn’t without tribulation.

For some unfortunate Playstation dwellers, the cursed update proceeded to allegedly break their controllers before spreading its attentions to Uncharted’s Nathan Drake, rendering him absolutely helpless. By now I think you know my thoughts on the subject, but if not you can read my write-up which resulted in some interesting lewd comments about my haircut amongst other things, courtesy of the lexically inept internets. To those who took the time to comment so flamboyantly, I congratulate you.

In a surprise move, Sony also informed us about their plans to be gaming reality TV pioneers with The Tester, a new PSN exclusive show which will pit individuals with protruding egos the size of Mount Everest against each other, in a series of tasks to land themselves the ultimate job of The Tester. That doesn’t sound like a certain business reality show at all does it Sir Alan?

Something tells me that this won’t be as prestigious as it sounds since the prize is essentially that of a games testing role, which is quite possibly the most soul destroying job you could ask for. Such a position is also normally given out after candidates have had what is known in the trade as a job interview.

Over on the other side of the fence, Microsoft is hoping for a more successful software launch with the anticipated beta for Onlive, as you can now sign up to take part. Their ongoing quest to persuade you that your prized Xbox won’t abruptly drop dead on you took another turn this week; as did their inflated budget with the sensational yet surreal live action trailer for Halo 3: OST. Why can’t all game advertising be this grandiose?

Things were not so bright with the new Assassin’s Creed 2 trailer however, which somehow thought the best way to convey a rich game set in medieval times was to blend it with turgid techno babble. But then our spirits were lifted after seeing another glimpse of Modern Warfare 2’s delicious multiplayer in action. I think we all need this game right now.

Elsewhere, Lord of the Rings Online is to gain a new expansion pack, and I’ve ran out of things to say about that already. Moving on, Nintendo capitalised on their own coveted cash cow by introducing Wii Fit Plus, a new strategy game entitled Order of War was announced by Square Enix, and the upcoming Fairytale Fights is now set to include a 4 player online component. The game in question takes every puny child’s best loved fairytale characters and bludgeons them all to death in a series of fantastically twisted bloodbaths – I’d love to meet whoever devised that up.

Speaking of violence, some tantalising new screenshots for Left 4 Dead 2 emerged and GTA: Chinatown Wars became even more scaled down to fit onto your Apple branded fashion accessory.

And finally…

Gaming etiquette stooped to a whole new low – let me introduce you to iPeePee, an application that pretty much does what it says on the tin.

That’s all folks! As always, you can catch the latest in multiplatform news, reviews and the odd controversial feature here at Gamer Limit. You know you want to join in the fun and start your own blog with us – do so and you may be in with a chance of winning some freebies.
[Hello and welcome to another stupendous edition of The Week in News, your weekly resource of gratifying gaming news kindly sewn together by Gamer Limit.]

Ideal for the lazy man within us all, The Week in News documents every piece of notable news over the past week into one compact article. Contrary to what the title may lead you to believe, this article does not contain graphic violence or nauseating nudity, but may contain sarcasm.

Urgently in need of your weekly fix of gaming news? Come and get it after the break.

Anarchy in the UK ensued this week after some legal loophole led to the UK classification laws to be virtually obsolete. What this means then is that scores of underage minors will be able to murder prostitutes in GTA and suffocate victims with plastic bags in Manhunt without jurisdiction. Result!

More boring legal news now, as it seems that Evony, an online based strategy game which I have duly avoided, took the law into their own crusty hands by suing a critic who dared to vocalise the fact the game is a steaming pile of very nasty faecal matter. Good luck with that.

Crime was also on the rise this week after the hype train for the next instalment of the GTA 4 DLC, The Ballad of Man Loving Tony, started rolling after some teasing screenshots were revealed, along with the announcement of an upcoming trailer for next month. But because Microsoft flashed their dollars to Rockstar, Playstation owners will never likely be able to play it. Sniff.

But wait! There is compensation abound, as GTA: Chinatown Wars is coming to the PSP, but some initial screenshots revealed that it will be an almost parallel port of the DS version, devoid of the shiny 3d graphics we were expecting from the capable PSP. Thanks again for that.

We all know about the PS3’s battle with bulimia, but this week Sony have been further showing off its new found body to the world through some truly, yet traditionally, bizarre advertisements. The Japanese really do completely and utterly terrify my inner soul. Hasn’t the poor PS3 Bulimic been through enough? Well, fortunately, adverts that were found on the other side of the pond turned out to be more, well, normal, and actually showed that Sony can adopt a sense of humour from time to time. They weren’t laughing upon the realisation that the Bulimic one may well struggle to make a solid profit, however.

Microsoft on the other hand has dropped the price on the Xbox Elite without having to subject their child to a rigorous dieting regime, but is consequently sending their other child, the Pro, off into care, never to be seen again. This is because the life expectancy of an Xbox isn’t too great you see, although Microsoft were keen to encourage you to believe otherwise. Oh, and they also bribed Megan Fox to pretend to be interested in games as she subjected herself to an onslaught of acne ridden online players in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. You have to wonder how many video chat requests she received from antisocial outcasts who wanted to view her balloons through their spectacular spectacles, though.

Activision was at it again in their pursuit to milk their cash cow, but this time they have spilt it onto the living dead. In an unexpected twist, former grunge legend Kurt Cobain was reincarnated, just to make them money. Thinking about it, is that really ethical? Speaking of resurrections, EGM magazine has also risen from the dead.

Have you always had an unfounded desire to convert your unwanted NES cartridges into thriving hard drives? Well ponder no more. How about your own DIY NES arcade cabinet? We’ve got you covered.

This week also saw the usual influx of release date announcements, this time for the likes of MotorStorm: Arctic Edge, the Pixar esque Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time, Kings of Fighters XII, the insufferably adorable Eyepet and an announcement for some new multiplayer content for Red Faction: Guerilla. But let’s not forget the trailers – we had an assortment of Need for Speed: Shift videos and a new trailer for Tony Hawk’s Ride to boot.

And finally…

America’s Dumbest Criminals has a new star to make fun of, after someone who likes Madden NFL 10 a bit too much paid Gamestop a fleeting visit.

That’s it for now, but be sure to tune in with me again next week as, once again, nothing will be safe from my rapturous wrath. Until then, keep reading Gamer Limit because we’re lovely and stop at nothing to bring you community spotlight – have your say by making your own blog!
