Without doubt, one of the single greatest things about LittleBigPlanet was the narration from the legend that is Stephen Fry. OK, so it played a fantastic game, but that voiceover from Fry really gave the game that touch of character and class it needed to make it grade-A stuff. So, it’s with no small amount of glee that we can reveal that he has all but confirmed his role in the next installment, via his – yes, you guessed it - Twitter page.

In the past few hours, UK video game retail website have provided rather concrete evidence that we could well be witnessing the release of a Marvel Vs Capcom game this year. “How have they gone and done that?”, I hear you cry… by advertising a Marvel Vs Capcom 2 arcade stick, that’s how.

The PSP has become a very versatile platform with both UMD, and downloadable titles. Perhaps this will be taken a step further, as the fine folks over at Arstechnica are reporting that the Patapon 2 retail release will contain a voucher for a code that will allow you to download the game via the Internet.

For the past couple of months, rumours of a Wii remake of the original Silent Hill have been flying around. Ironic, then, that the article by Nintendo Power magazine confirming these rumours was published on April Fools’ Day. I didn’t believe it myself, especially after seeing Kojima’s ‘Metal Gear: Pensioner’ video, but some helpful souls have posted a few photos of the article – an interview with Silent Hill producer Tomm Hullett – by way of some proof.

Those of you fearing yet another rubbish remake can relax though, as it would seem the only thing that will be giving you sleepless nights will be the game itself. “This is a reimagining of the first Silent Hill, it’s not a remake or a port,” explains Hullet. “That’s an important distinction. It really feels like a new game.” Welcome words, I’m sure you’ll agree. Read more… »

With the announcement of Spirit Tracks for DS, and Majora’s Mask on the Virtual Console, it seems that Nintendo are going Zelda crazy. But apparently Ninty have yet another announcement to make.

Conjuring up images of secret midnight rendezvous, hushed whispers under dimly lit street lamps in the fog and lots of looking around anxiously, Eurogamer has reported that a couple of ‘anonymous’ developers have told them that the new PS3 firmware is to arrive next Month.

One of the most long-winded sagas of 2009 thus far is, reportedly, about to be resolved. For better or worse, according to exployees of a UK games retailer, Sony are planning price-drops for both the PlayStation 3 and PSP systems. Although an exact date has yet to be confirmed, the rumor is that the move will occur “soon”.

“It’s been on the cards for a while,” they said, “but manufacturers are not in the habit of giving exact dates so as not to effect sales”. Read more… »

An animator from one of the leading UK game developers, Traveller’s Tales, recently let slip a few of their upcoming releases in their online resume. It has since been edited to remove any mention of the games, but before the details were taken down it was noted that both Lego Harry Potter and Lego Indiana Jones 2: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull were in development.  As well as that, there was also mention of a pitch by Traveller’s Tales to develop a game based on the upcoming Hobbit movies, although no mention of whether they would be Lego or not. Word has surfaced that Diablo 3, one of the most anticipated upcoming PC games, will have late a 2009 release date.  Product Reviews writes that Blizzard will be opening an online Beta version of the game on Septermber 11th, 2009, while the game will release for retail on December 24th, 2009.  Christmas Eve?  I shudder at the thought of having to visit any store on the night before Christmas, even if it is just for Diablo 3.  Click continue for the system requirements.

The PlayStation Network is slowly but surely breaking the shackles that tie it to mediocrity. When compared with Microsoft’s Xbox LIVE, Sony’s equivalent far too often falls short. Perhaps, however, the fact that it is free of charge tends to allow it to hold its head high and compete with the best, while updates are gradually bringing the service up to speed. Read more… »
