A splendid stash of content has been unleashed onto the PSN Store this week, including the belated arrival of Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City (available from Friday) and the timeless PSOne classic Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee.

Elsewhere, episode 2 of FirstPlay has arrived with a free mini game and there’s some further downloadable content for Just Cause 2 and Dante’s Inferno to be had along with a playable demo of Skate 3.

The remainder of this week’s Store update can be found after the break.

Gamers often make me laugh and facepalm simultaneously. When hearing that a vocal minority of gripers on a Might & Magic fansite referred to Capybara’s turn-based strategy RPG/Puzzle mash-up game as “Might and Magic: Rash of Herpes”, I couldn’t help but snicker.

However, just because something is clever doesn’t mean it isn’t stupid. Clash of Heroes clocked in amongst the top 5 rated DS games for all of 2009. Sorry, haters – it sounds like the rash is spreading.

Andrew Kauz and I had the good fortune at PAX East to chat with Capy president and co-founder Nathan Vella, and get a sneak peek at the upcoming remake of the game for XBLA and PSN. Spoilers: It looks good.

It’s PSN update time once again, and this week sees the launch of the new weekly digital magazine FirstPlay, SCEE’s answer to Qore for the modest price of £0.99 per episode or £8.99 for a 3 month subscription. Like Qore, it is set to contain video previews and reviews along with exclusive beta access and downloadable content, with the first instalment including some new content for Just Cause 2.

Elsewhere, there is a playable demo of 2010 FIFA World Cup for football fans, a new PSN game entitled Aqua Panic and a host of downloadable content for the likes of Blue Toad Murder Files, Mega Man 10 and LittleBigPlanet.

Check out a full listing of this week’s content after the break.

While everyone is sulking over the latest Linux-shrouding firmware update, the latest PSN Store update has now gone live. There’s a healthy host of downloadable content this week, including the debut episode of Heavy Rain Chronicles and additional content for Army of Two: The 40th Day and Sonic & SEGA Allstars Racing. Retro fans will also be able to salvage some memories from Namco Museum Essentials a mere 9 months after its release on the US Store.

As always, you can find a full rundown of this week’s update after the break.

I’ve been following Halfbrick’s progress as a developer for some time, chiefly for the fact that I like to support Brisbane devs. Having been lucky enough to do some focus testing on their upcoming XBLA title, Raskulls, I was keen to see what titles they were able to pump out on the side.

Enter: Rocket Racing for the PlayStation Minis collection. The introduction of these pint-sized productions has been something of a revelation for PS3 and PSP owners, as they are often the perfect games to play on the run.

Rocket Racing seeks to punch players in the face with a fistful of fast-paced racing, while at the same time, appeal to our obvious lust for all things retro. But does it succeed?

Today TimeGate Studios announced that its futuristic shooter Section 8 will burn onto the PlayStation Network today.

Priced at $29.99, the downloadable multiplayer focused title features some new additions not seen in the PC or Xbox 360 editions. These improvements include: “three maps previously available only as DLC in other platforms, an improved multiplayer matchmaking system, optimized textures and graphics for the PS3, and TimeGate’s exclusive TGNServer technology [that] allows for 32-player matches hosted on home PCs.” Read more… »

Another Thursday, another PSN Store update for us to savor. As usual, there is a fresh batch of special offers for outdated games that Sony need to shift (a lot of which are curiously from SEGA this week), along with a playable demo for Green Corp and a host of DLC for the likes of Alien vs. Predator and Batman: Arkham Asylum.

The LittleBigPlanet costume downloads have also made a triumphant return with no less than 4 new Sonic themed costumes and a level kit, and MAG even received a free DLC pack.

For a full listing of this week’s offerings, hit that jump.

If you didn’t see this coming, then you are clearly blind, deaf, and dumb. During the Final Fantasy XIII launch party, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada revealed through an interview that Squeenix will “explore the possibility” of remaking the PSOne classic. Nothing is set in stone, as Wada reiterated that they have to decide “whether or not we’re going to do it, if we’re going to do it, and the platform.”

Though it may not be the ideal answer that us FFVII fanatics have been looking for, it’s definitely a step in the right direction. Read more… »

Just a few months after Media Molecule claimed a sequel would be “counter productive” to the Little Big Planet community, a Sony exec has leaked news of a sequel. It shouldn’t be that big of a surprise since developers, and the like, will lie at the drop of a hat to keep something “secret,” but I’d assumed MM was above that, for some reason.

Then again, maybe their plans just changed. After all, a lot has happened since last November: Media Molecule was purchased by Sony, Playstation Move has been officially announced and detailed, and there hasn’t been a whole ton of support for the PS3 version of Little Big Planet since the PSP version was released. Perhaps it was just a perfect storm situation for either a sequel or a reselling of LBP as a Move launch title.

It’s Store time once again, although this week’s update is somewhat lacking in standout content. Wakeboarding HD is the latest downloadable PSN title which looks fun but hardly enticing for the asking price (Smash Cars anyone?), but there is a steady supply of downloadable content to be had with an expansion pack for Dragon Age: Origins and the Exotic Racing series pack for Need For Speed: Shift.

As per usual, you can find a full listing of this week’s update after the break.

Hit the jump for a full run-through of this week’s update.
