This Christmas looks to be a promising period this year, particularly for the Playstation 3. There are already some high profile exclusives on their way, but today marks another one to add to that list with Ratchet & Clank Future: a Crack in Time, which is now scheduled for release on October 27th.

There has been little coverage on this title so far, but after Tools of Destruction the anticipation for this sequel will no doubt rise accordingly, as more coverage of this Pixar esque game is released.

A European release date has yet to be announced however, but hopefully it won’t suffer the same fate as a certain Up which we have yet to enjoy despite it being released a good 3 months ago everywhere else. Sorry, just had to get that off of my chest.

This piece of tidbit is one for the Aussies. Tim Cahill, the Socceroo’s ‘hero’ during the last World Cup, has been enlisted to become a FIFA 10 cover athlete. He’s not the only man fronting for the job though, as fellow English Premier League (EPL) player Wayne Rooney will be alongside Cahill for the gig.

Though the chances are slim, the opportunity has indeed presented itself. Activision just announced that gamers all over the world can now expect to play with every boys’ dreamgirl, Megan Fox, on Xbox Live this Saturday. Unfortunately, like everything good that comes our way, there’s always a catch. If you don’t own Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on either consoles, you’re out. If you happen to own the game but have decided to not buy the upcoming DLC, you’re out. Simply put, you need to buy the upcoming DLC to play with her.

Head inside for the details.

Every Batman fan on the planet has been waiting for their caped messiah, waiting for an above average Batman game to finally come. While Batman: The Animated Series for the SNES was a winner in some fan’s eyes, it was really just a by-the-numbers platformer that didn’t strive to break the mold, and didn’t succeed in putting Batman games on the map.

But in August 2009, our time has finally arrived, compliments of Rocksteady’s development team. Arkham Aslyum reeks of production value: from the decision to cast many voice actors from the animated series along with other top shelf talent, to the penning of the Hollywood worthy script by acclaimed writer Paul Dini (Lost, Batman: The Animated Series), it would take a lot of effort to screw this one up. Read on to see if Arkham Asylum delivers on the hype. Read more… »

PS3 Oddness

It’s basically common knowledge that Japan produces some of the more obscure material for television programs and advertising campaigns, and that it works. Sony seems to thrive on this left-of-center marketing, and have once again produced the goods for their upcoming PS3 Slim.

Not since David Lynch’s Playstation 2 ads have we been so baffled by console marketing.

Hit the jump to check out the odd ad.

The videos keep leaking through in the run up to the release of Need For Speed: Shift, with yet another trailer of racing action. Along with the usual array of fast cutting shots of racing cars being put through their paces, this one also teases the consequences that can occur, should you end up trading paint with your fellow competitors.

View the latest trailer along with a few new screenshots after the break.

Will it snap up a popdium  position in its battle against the competition when it is released this September?

PS3 Slim

With the Playstation 3 Slim only days from release, Sony has already revealed that the new console will be hard pressed to make a profit on hardware sales alone.

Sony knows all about losing money on console sales; when the original Playstation 3 was released, Sony lost money on each and every console sold. Of course, things have turned around since then, but with the impending release of their diminutive product, Sony once again faces the knowledge that early takings are going to stutter.

Hit the jump to hear what Sony executive Kaz Hirai had to say on the matter.
