Uncharted Adventures To Continue
By: | September 23rd, 2009

Uncharted3

In a recent interview with Naughty Dog’s creative director Amy Hennig, reassurance was given to all Uncharted fans that Uncharted 2 will not conclude the story. Nathan Drake’s adventures will continue “as long as people want more of it. All these stories are self contained. You don’t have to play the last one to play this one. Obviously, you’re going to get a little more out of it if you have. But he’s going to have lots of adventures, thank god.” I think we are all under agreement when I say, “OMG MORE! MOOORRRE!”

Uncharted 2, one of PS3′s top exclusives, hits store shelves on October 13th. Hit the jump to see the full interview between Playstation.blog and Amy Hennig.

Borderlands PC Version Delayed
By: | September 23rd, 2009

With glowing recommendations that the PC version of 2K’s upcoming Borderlands will be the version to buy, it’s a little disheartening to see the PC version pushed back behind the 360 and PS3 release dates.

Hit the break for the official word from senior PR Manager, Charlie Sinhaseni.

A tribute video showcasing the new Ferrari 458 Italia has been released, which serves the double purpose of advertising Ferrari’s new motor and Polyphony’s stunningly realistic graphics engine. But that’s not all, as the developers of the upcoming Forza 3 have also come up with a tribute video of their own for the same car.

And that is all that needs to be said on this occasion, other than the fact that the videos are breathtakingly beautiful in every way.

You can salivate over the remaining tribute after the break. Let the fanboy’s war over which looks superior commence!

Gamer Limit Review: Guitar Hero 5
By: | September 22nd, 2009

GH5

There is no denying that the past year has been overrun with the music genre, which is starting to suffocate our poor helpless consoles. There have been no less than 10 Guitar Hero titles alone, 4 of which are from this year, and things get continually more claustrophobic when you factor in some considerable competition. As much as I love Guitar Hero, it has become arguably too much of a good thing.

However, Activision has attempted to set the record straight with Guitar Hero 5, an effort that reaches that defining point in a band’s career where things start to mature. But is it enough to secure a podium position in the charts?

Gamer Limit Review: Switchball PSN
By: | September 22nd, 2009

switchball_lead

Since we were children, many of us have had our play time eaten into by simple “guide the shiny ball to its home” games. You all know what I’m talking about: tilt the little wooden platform in your hand as you try to get all the balls in the right holes. Simple and cheap, yet highly addictive and in some cases, quite challenging.

As technology evolved, so did the complexity of these games, adding more shiny balls and more complex mazes to guide them through. So now we are here with Switchball, taking this simple concept that has been used in games like Super Monkey Ball even further.

Developed by Atomic Elbow for the PC and Xbox360 in 2007, Switchball was received warmly by critics, even winning TeamXbox.com’s Xbox Live Arcade Game of the Year award. Now roughly two years later it has come to the Playstation 3, and while a lot has changed in those two years, this game still remains fresh.

Blur delayed until 2010
By: | September 21st, 2009

Blur

Sadly, Activision’s upcoming arcade racer Blur will not be making it out onto the track this November and is now scheduled to be released next year.

Activision’s Mike Griffith cited that the game will be locked in its garage for a slightly longer service in order to “fully optimise the vision [Bizarre] set out to create for Blur including a distinctive and groundbreaking multiplayer mode that will appeal to a broad audience.”

To be honest, I can’t say I am particularly surprised at this news when you consider the sudden influx of racing games which have been released this year. This month, the almighty Dirt 2 and chart topping Need For Speed: Shift went head to head and let’s not forget the impending major releases of Forza 3 and Gran Turismo 5 which should be with us by the end of the year.

Way of the Samurai 3 blowout!
By: | September 19th, 2009

ws1

Way of the Samurai is certainly an underdog of a series. Despite my massive interest in the action genre, only just recently did I pick up the first game and experience its splendor.

Simply put, Way of the Samurai is an excellent “choose your own adventure” tale that’s seldom explored in the realm of action games. Now, Way of the Samurai 3 is poised to make a splash on October 13th, courtesy of UFO Games. Hit the jump for a media blowout, including a trailer and various screenshots! Read more… »

Gamer Limit Review: Wet
By: | September 18th, 2009

game_rubi_render01

Themes are the glue that hold stories together. In Charlie Kaufman’s Synecdoche, New York, he utilized the themes of obsession, love, and time to paint us a picture of a man searching for himself. While he ultimately succeeded at doing this, the themes of the movie are woven so deep that they became tangled. It felt like the movie forgot that it’s ultimate goal was to entertain.

This is Wet’s situation. The game sports a strong theme of stylized action and revenge that succeed in being cool and unique, but it forgets that its ultimate goal is to entertain and involve the player, which it loses in repetitive blood effects and bullet time. Read more… »

During tonight’s BBC broadcast of Watchdog (a British TV show which names and shames retail scams,) a segment cropped up which captured my interest regarding PS3 hardware failures. The feature brought attention to the infamous “yellow light of death,” which results in the console failing to startup in the same vein as the Xbox 360′s red rings of death.

If you are unlucky enough to have exceeded your warranty, then you unfortunately have to cough up the cash, but Watchdog came up with a solution after recruiting a repair team that possessed supernatural powers that can fix a broken PS3. During the show, a total of five consoles were repaired on air in the space of an hour.

Sony however were not best pleased with the report, and responded before the show had even broadcasted – read an excerpt from an open letter they wrote after the break.

250GB Consoles

In a completely non coincidental event, the PS3 and Xbox 360 are about to be considerably beefed up in a series of new game bundles.

First up is the Xbox 360, which is to be bundled as a “super elite” limited edition package, which will include a themed 250GB console along with two controllers and a copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, all for the tidy sum of $399. You can currently preorder the bundle from Amazon, which lists it as being released on November 10th, and a Forza Motorsport 3 bundle has also been rumoured.

And now an Uncharted 2 bundle for the PS3 Bulimic has been all but confirmed, which has also been fitted with a sizable 250GB hard drive. Sony however have reportedly denied the bundle for America, but did not pass any comments on a European release however. Become more heated, the console war has.

Bon Jovi supports Guitar Hero feud
By: | September 17th, 2009

Kurt Cobain

Following on from the scuffle between Nirvana, Courtney Love and Activision, Jon Bon Jovi has also voiced his dismay over Activision’s decisions. The controversy stemmed after a playable avatar of the late Kurt Cobain was included in the newly released Guitar Hero 5, whereby the character model can be used to play along to other artist’s material.

In a recent interview, he empathised with the riled band members, stating “I don’t know that I would have wanted it either.”

He continued by saying: “To hear someone else’s voice coming out of a cartoon version of me? I don’t know. It sounds a little forced” and also revealed that he was approached by Activision to make his own appearance in the game, but the offer was subsequently declined. “”I had the paperwork, they wanted me to be on that game and I just passed.”
