Still yearning for more Wild West action after sinking countless hours in to Red Dead Redemption? Not had your fill of filleting cows or skinning cougars? Well Rockstar has a treat in store for you.

Over the weekend a short, 30 minute movie was aired in the UK. If, like me, you missed out you can now get your chance to view the short via the wonders of the Internet… well YouTube to be more precise.

The move, made entirely using in game assets (Machinima to the more technically minded), has been made by Australian born John Hillcoat, director of The Road & The Proposition. The short st titled “The Man from Blackwater” and is well worth thirty minutes of your time. If you still need a little “nudge” in the direction of the quite frankly awesome wild west sandbox game, then I suggest reading the rather fine GL review.

By now we should all be used to hearing developers harp on about how much interest Hollywood has in adapting their product to the silver screen. Halo fans have had their hearts pummeled for the past few years by the likes of Peter Jackson and co., which doesn’t exactly bode well for the following news.

The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog has just revealed that Legendary Pictures have taken it upon themselves to turn BioWare’s sci-fi epic, Mass Effect, into a multimillion dollar film. Let us just pray that Uwe Boll doesn’t take the helm.

BioWare has been teasing us for months about the possibility of a Mass Effect movie, and now it seems that things are finally starting to fall into place.

Mark Protosevich, the screenwriter responsible for I Am Legend, The Cell, and the upcoming superhero flick Thor is slated as the key man to bring Commander Shepard to the big screen, but with a tentative release date set for 2012 there will surely be plenty of changes to come.

Legendary is fast becoming one of the most recognizable production companies in the game-to-movie market. They are currently pushing for World of Warcraft and Gears of War films.

Gamer Limit will have updates on this subject as more news comes to pass.

Time and time again I’ve harped on the fact that gamers are still waiting for a mesmerizing adaptation of a film spawning from a video game. Wyck Godfrey, producer of the Gears of War film, took time out of his schedule to talk about his ideas.

While many still remain pessimistic that the film will butcher the video game, it is a bit comforting to see how the film will unfold. For the video interview, please read on.

“I think we want to focus on a world that’s running well, *snaps fingers* and then it’s emergence day.”

In the past, we’ve seen films try to recreate video game plot lines that turn out to be quite terrible. Utilizing the film to shed more light on the events leading up to the events of the first game will be interesting.

Not to mention, capturing the people’s reactions during the ensuing 48 hours will be quite a challenge. If done correctly, it could potentially catapult Gears of War into new heights and design a successful film to video game structure.

Right now, little is known, but Len Wisemen, director of the Underworld films, is suppose to direct. Here’s hoping the movie turns out to be a smash hit.

Check the film’s description from Movieset:

The King of Fighters movie will introduce a new science fiction spin into the setting established in the games’ universe by following the surviving members of three legendary fighting clans who are continually whisked away to other dimensions by an evil power. As the fighters enter each new world they battle that universe’s native defenders, while the force that brought them seeks to find a way to invade and infect our world.

Awesome.

The film is being directed by Gordon Chan (Jet Li’s director for Fist of Legend), and stars Sean Faris (Never Back Down), Maggie Q (Live Free or Die Hard), Will Yun Lee (Elektra), and Darth Maul. I mean… Ray Park.

It’s coming out next year, to what’s sure to be a record stint at the box office. Lines forming now at your local movie theater.

Finally it’s here. After months of anticipation, Disney has finally released a trailer for their upcoming film Prince of Persia, and it seems just as exciting and thrilling as the video game. We all know that video games turned into film have rarely, if ever, been very good, but with these high profile names floating around, it’s hard to believe that this game will fail much like its brethren.

With the leading role played by Jake Gyllenhaal, a stage presence by Ben Kingsley, a Jerry Bruckheimer production and backed by Disney, it’s shaping up to be the first great video game film made. Let’s hope it lives up to its hype.

The premise is simple. Set in medevial Persia, a prince and a princess team up to stop a ruler from unleashing a deadly sandstorm that could potentially destroy the world. Tricked into releasing the Sands of Time, the prince takes it upon himself to restore the hourglass to prevent the angry ruler from going through with his masterful plan.

The only way the prince can restore the Sands of Time is by using the Dagger of Time, which grants him control over time to an extent. While there are many details left to be unearthed, let’s hope this film is the right step in the film direction.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time will hit theaters May 28, 2010.

Here at Gamer Limit, we don’t discriminate against humor and video games. In fact, we welcome both with open arms and a caring heart. As a result, we are always on the prowl for the funniest and the most outstanding video clips that we can share with our fans.

Well today, the guys over at CollegeHumor.com brought both: humor and games, to our doorstep in tandem. They’ve been hard at work trying to develop a film for The Sims game, and effort like that will not go unnoticed. For an outstanding trailer, please read on.

The sad thing is that this two minute short looks more entertaining than any other video game film ever to be released. What’s more striking is that it’s based on a game with no storyline. Maybe that’s the key?

The triple-platinum Spore could be coming to a theater near you thanks to Fox and EA. Variety reports that it will be a CG movie produced by Blue Sky studios, directed by Ice Age’s helmsman Chris Wedge, with Greg Erb and Jason Oremland, the writers behind Disney’s The Princess and the Frog, will be working on the script.

Hit the jump for more juicy information and quotes.

Wedge is excited to be involved with the project. He told Variety:

“I’m always looking for unique worlds to go to in animation, from every perspective — visually, thematically and comedically — the world of ‘Spore’ provides the potential to put something truly original on the screen.”

EA Entertainment’s Patrick O’Brien and Maxis (the developer behind the game) VP Lucy Bradshaw will both be executive producers on the movie as well. However, there has been no comment on whether Will Wright is involved with the movie at this time.

Spore has sold more than 3.2 million units worldwide, and it’s not the only popular EA title getting a bid for the big screen. The Sims, Mass Effect, Dante’s Inferno, Dead Space, and Army of Two are all being shopped around.

EA is making a big push for the silver screen, Who knows what the future holds? Perhaps EA will release Mirror’s Edge: The Movie or a straight to DVD rendition of Road Rash.

“I play the leader of the survivors in LA. Milla Jovovich’s character, Alice, is roaming the world looking for survivors and she’s wound up in LA, which has been burning for three years. She comes across an LA jail surrounded be these half-dead, uhh…[zombies]. Yeah, they’re those monsters, what are they called? Anyway, she comes across the jail and there’s a couple of survivors and she lands on top of the roof and partners up with me to fight the guys that are coming after them. We’re trying to get all of the survivors out of the jail to safety. We’re starting next week, actually.”

Some of the original cast is back including Milla Jovovich and Ali Larter along with Prison Break star, Wentworth Miller. Although Prison Break ended, at least Miller gets to reprise his “breaking out of jail” skills in Resident Evil: Afterlife.

Similarly, unconfirmed rumors are floating around that Leon S. Kennedy will make his long overdue debut. Lastly, if the film fails, at least the movie hired actors with some great names.

Last week, Spike TV debuted a new trailer for the upcoming Halo Legends anime. I finally got around to checking it out, and I must admit it’s looking pretty good.

Check out the full five minute preview after the jump.

If this is what they are hoping will sell Halo: ODST to the Japanese audience, I have my doubts they will take the bait.

Also is it just me or does the Spartan look a bit portly?
