Every year around this time we begin to speculate on who we thought “won” E3 2009. It’s not Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft this year. It all comes down to one man, who showed off the most new surprised in comparison to anyone else. At the Konami press conference Kojima-san revealed yet another major title: Castlevania: Lord of Shadows.

The latest trailer does have a bit of low resolution, but it is absolutely georgous none the less. You’re back controlling the whip of a man torn due to the loss of his wife. With great voice acting by well-known talent, Lord of Shadows cannot come fast enough.

Hideo Kojima has been a busy bee at this year’s E3, hasn’t he? First of all, he shocked the world with the announcement that Metal Gear Solid: Rising will be available on the Xbox 360, then he unveiled Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker on the PSP.

BUT! He wasn’t quite done there. At yesterday’s Konami press conference, Mr. Kojima confirmed that Rising was a multi-platform release and that a new game was in the works: Metal Gear Arcade.

Yesterday at Sony’s E3 conference, a brand new trailer for Final Fantasy XIII was shown. It gives us an insight on the plot and shows off some gameplay. Also, it looks like a new party member is revealed. The trailer confirms a 2010 North American release.

Final Fantasy XIV was announced yesterday afternoon at Sony’s E3 press conference following a new Final Fantasy XIII trailer. The audience was shocked to hear that Final Fantasy XIV Online would be released in 2010 as a PS3 exclusive along with the eagerly anticipated Final Fantasy XIII.

Conference-goers and those of us stuck at home watching the live stream were treated to a beautiful, painfully short teaser. Later yesterday evening (June 2nd) Square-Enix launched the official Final Fantasy XIV web site, yielding a few extra, but not overly generous, morsels of information.

Arguably the biggest surprise to arise from Sony’s E3 conference was the announcement of a new motion sensing controller, which almost felt like a direct retaliation to Microsoft’s Project Natal which was revealed just the day before Sony’s showing.
