After witnessing Ubisoft’s awkward conference, there was little to take away from it.  We were dazzled by Assassin’s Creed, scratched our head at Driver, and were perplexed by the onslaught of other random titles.  But of all the titles, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier easily captured my attention the most of all.

As the next installment into the series, players rely heavily on stealth and cloaking abilities to maneuver between their enemies.  Working together with your teammates, you’ll coordinate precise attacks that take out groups of enemies. Read more… »

An open multiplayer beta will commence for  Medal of Honour on June 21st for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, with VIP members of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 gaining early access on June 17th if you preorder Medal of Honour.

The beta will feature two maps entitled Helmand Valley and Kabul City Ruins, spread across two gameplay modes, Team Assault and Combat Mission, for up to 24 players.

From the reveal trailer posted above, the DICE developed multiplayer seems to be an interesting cross between both Bad Company 2 and Modern Warfare 2.

Star Wars fans worldwide rejoiced this afternoon as representatives from Bioware and Lucasarts released further details on their highly anticipated MMO set in the Star Wars universe – The Old Republic. Along with the world premier of their newest action packed trailer, fans were treated with an interesting tidbit of information – every player will have access to their very own starship.

EA has announced Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam, an upcoming expansion for the best-selling shooter during their press conference at E3 which was revealed with a teaser trailer for us to suckle on.

According to the Battlefield Blog: “The expansion pack contains 4 brand new maps built in Frostbite including the popular Conquest and Rush game modes as well as Vietnam specific weapons, vehicles, persistence, unlocks as well as new awards, achievements and trophies.”

This will not be the first time the franchise will have infiltrated this location, after Battlefield: Vietnam was released as a standalone game in 2004. The trailer confirms that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam is scheduled for a winter 2010 release window.

Before showing us a crazy demo filled with bad dialog, point driven combo skills, and more shit, Epic’s team announced that Bulletstorm will be hitting shelves on February 22, 2011.

The demo they showed promised lots of action, and Epic guaranteed that the game will be playable on the floor, so check back for our hands-on coverage.

Today at the EA conference, Crysis 2 footage was unleashed, and believe me, it is impressive.  In a Cloverfield like game, the player runs through the streets of New York combating an alien race taking down mech-like creations.

Similarly, the nano-suit technology is back and the same special abilities are as powerful, but rather than having a HUD highlighting the different attributes, it seems as though switching between traits is much more subtle than before.

As well, the same visual appeal in the original is back and ramped up to the max.  Incorporating the recently popular 3D technology, sets a new benchmark for the next generation of gaming.

While we knew that Dead Space 2 was supposed to come out some time during 2011, today at the EA media conference they announced that we’ll be able to step back into the shoes of Isaac Clarke and the twisted world that surrounds him on January 25th of the new year.

The live-action-demo looked superb, consisting of the same creepy atmosphere and overly demented mutations that made the game so prominent. I’ve been waiting to dive back into the world of Dead Space since it came out, as Dead Space: Extraction, while fun, didn’t possess the same feel that made the original so amazing. It’s good to hear we’ll be able to get our hands on the true sequel very early in 2011.

EA’s press conference has opened with the announcement of Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, developed by the team who pioneered the Burnout series, Criterion Games.

Now that the keys have been handed over to Criterion, the franchise is set to go back to its roots with “exotic cars, epic drives and hot pursuits,” with a new career mode that allows you to play as either a racer or as a cop. A pre-rendered trailer was shown featuring intense high speed chases across a desert landscape, complete with Bugatti Veyron police cars.

Criterion also announced a feature entitled “auto log,” which will be the basis for the game’s online and split screen connectivity. This was demonstrated live on stage as the representatives went head to head as a cop and felon respectively.

My only question is this: why has it taken this long for a new Hot Pursuit to arrive? The series has been crying out for this revival for too long now.

With E3 less than 24 hours away, the LA Convention Center sits poised, ready to host the biggest event in the entire video games industry.  Outside and inside the gigantic building, the yearly ritual of plastering the walls with enormous game posters is in full swing.  Everything from Crysis 2 to Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood is on display, reminding us that these are the big AAA games with huge marketing budgets.

Today at Microsoft’s press conference, the new 360 slim was unveiled, and its price is on target with its predecessor.  At $299, 360 enthusiasts will see a slimmer version, a 250 gigabyte hard drive, and built-in wireless. 

While the pricing of Microsoft’s Kinect is still unknown, gamers will undoutedly see it bundled with the new slim when Kinect is released on November 4th. Full details of the bundle with be forthcoming. Read more… »

Live tweet coverage coming at 2:00PM PST:

Earlier this year it was rumored that ESPN, the world’s largest sports broadcaster, would eventually be coming to the Xbox 360 .  Well, during the Microsoft press conference today the service was officially debuted, touting its access to over 3500 sporting events the first year alone.

The service will be fully compatible with Kinect, allowing viewers to control the live stream with either their hands or their voice. If Kobe Bryant does a 360 slam dunk over LeBron James, you can say “replay” and you’ll automatically get to watch the epic dunk again and again.  No release date has been announced for the service, but it will be available for free for all Xbox Live Gold Members.
