2009 has come and gone. All in all, a fantastic year in gaming. But the fun isn’t over quite yet as the last PSN Store update of 2009 is quite generous: Sega content on PSN is 40% off, Battlefield 1943 is $10.49, and much more.

Hit the jump. Enjoy your holidays. And keep your eye on Gamer Limit for the next US PSN Store update come the new year! Read more… »

It’s the final PSN update of 2009, and with it comes a hefty supply of festive frolics to savor. There’s the release of Hustle Kings and the PS One classic Vagrant Story, along with a continuation of the special offers found last week with a few additions, including Fat Princess.

Elsewhere, there’s the usual explosion of downloadable content, as LittlebigPlanet takes center stage with the belated release of the Pirates of the Caribbean water pack which I’ve been anticipating since the summer. Or, if you can’t afford that, you can always buy an adorable Sackboy avatar for £0.20. The AdhocParty application is also finally available, which means you can now play Gran Turismo PSP online afterall.

That’s all for now until the next PSN update which is scheduled for January 7th after a holiday hiatus, so I get a well deserved break. As always, a full listing of this week’s update can be found after the jump.

Grabbed Pills

Well, those people who still maintain that Left 4 Dead 2 is an expansion are about to be really confused, as Valve today announced the first of its DLC add-ons for the popular zombie apocalypse simulator.

The ironic part? It’s expanding by looking backward, tapping the four survivors from the first game for encore appearances.

But that’s not all–not by a long shot. Check out the rest of the post below to get the gory details.

The PlayStation Store man has once again fulfilled his weekly ritual of launching the button that unleashes a storm of content to you grateful people. This week, the much anticipated PixelJunk Shooter makes its mark , along with Call of Duty Classic and Hyperballoid HD. PSP players can also pickup new delights such as Avatar, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and Tekken 6, except Tekken 6 isn’t out until tomorrow.

Catch this week’s update in full after the break.

Christmas is about to plague us all, and so to celebrate the PSN store has been blessed with a smattering of stocking fillers, some free and some not so free. Highlights include some playable demos for Bayonetta and Topatoi, some downloadable content for Fight Night Round 4 and Operation Flashpoint, along with some generous free gifts for Need For Speed: Shift, Eyepet and LittleBigPlanet. Speaking of which, there is also a playable demo of the newly released PSP rendition of LittleBigPlanet.

And yes, you guessed it, there’s also the rudimentary overdose of Guitar Hero 5 and Rock Band DLC.

Check out the full listing of this week’s update after the break.

When Borderlands was released for consoles in late October, the industry’s leading psychic analyst, Michael Pachter, prophesied the failure of the release. With the game coming out scant weeks before big titles like Modern Warfare 2 and Dragon Age: Origins, he boldly declared that the game had been “sent to die”.

With console sales reaching 531K for the month of October alone, and solid critical reviews, it appears that Gearbox’s new IP has somehow cheated the reaper. The recent release of the game’s first DLC, Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, aims to keep interest in the title alive, even beyond the grave.

Does the new content shamble its rotted way into gamers’ hearts, or has it been sent to un-die?

Today developer Turbine announce that it has officially launched a new digital expansion for the MMO The Lord of the Rings Online.

Dubbed “Siege of Mirkwood,” the new expansion adds a boat load of new content. Some notable additions include: an “increased level cap, the new region of Mirkwood including the legendary evil fortress of Dol Guldur, major enhancements to combat and Legendary Items and the introduction of Skirmishes.” These Skirmishes are “randomized, repeatable instances where players will train customizable soldiers and take them into battle as part of the War of the Ring.”
