Remember that Humble Indie Bundle I wrote about a last week? Well it has turned into quite the success. Right before the deal came to a close yesterday, gamers dug deep into their pockets and managed to raise over $1 million.

In celebration of this fantastic achievement, the offer has been extended by four days. This mans that you have until 4pm EDT on May 15 to get in on the action. Also, because the bundle broke the million mark, several of the developers have decided to release the source codes for Lugaru HD, Gish, Aquaria and Penumbra Overture. This means that modders will be able to produce new content for the bundled titles. Read more… »

Today several indie developers have teamed up to bring you five great games at the low price of whatever you want to pay. Why would these businesses do this? For charity, of course!

Dubbed The Humble Indie Bundle, the deal, which nabs you DRM-free versions of World of Goo, Gish, Aquaria, Lugaru HD, and Penumbra Overture, sees all the proceeds being split between the developers, Penny Arcade’s Child’s Play charity, and digital rights advocate the Electronic Frontier Foundation. The cool feature of this deal is that you actually get to select where you money goes. You can choose to have it all go to the developers, all to the charity, all to the Electronic Frontier Foundation, or split anyway amongst the three. Read more… »

If you’ve bought a Ubisoft game on the PC recently (what’s wrong with you?!), then you’ll be familiar with the fact that, to play one of their games, you must be connected to the internet the whole time.  Three cheers for copyright protection!

When Ubisoft’s DRM servers were attacked recently by cyber-terrorists, that led both the Assassin’s Creed II and Silent Hunter 5 servers going down, down, literally around (sugar, we’re goin’ down swingin’).  Gamers couldn’t even play their newly purchased games.

Ubisoft’s solution?  Free games for the sad people that couldn’t play their other games!  Check out the huge list of titles after the jump, and see the free stuff you’re missing out on because you bought AC2 on a console like everyone else.

Have a dusty ol’ Wii sitting on the shelf?  Looking for a reason to boot it up again?  Well, now you have one!

Telltale Games is offering free copies of Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People: Episode 2: Strong Badia the Free, and all you have to do is provide your Wii friend code, live in the U.K. or Germany, and fill out a quick survey.  Hey, you’ve done worse things for a free game, right?  Details after the jump.

What happens when you mix one part Gears of War, two parts Team Fortress 2, and one part Left 4 Dead together with a sprinkling of Wild West? Why, Lead & Gold, of course. Fatshark’s flagship product is now available for pre-order discount for PC users, though console players will have to wait a bit longer. In addition, if you pre-order now, you’ll get beta access to the game!

Lead & Gold is a unique third person shooter set in the Wild West, with four classes to choose from, all bringing unique benefits to the team. The Blaster, The Deputy, The Gunslinger, and The Trapper all work together so you have a demolitions expert, a scout, a bread and butter shooter, and a sniper, practically guaranteeing you won’t get tired of any style of play.

If you’ll recall, last week we reported that gamers who redeemed a code acquired by purchasing a copy of Darksiders early on would receive a free copy of another THQ title, Red Faction: Guerrilla.  Well, it appears that THQ really wants you to play Red Faction, because another offer pertaining to a free copy of the game has sprung up.

According to THQ, if you pre-order their upcoming horror title Metro 2033 on the digital distribution platform Steam, you will be gifted a free copy of Red Faction: Guerrilla for your trouble.  It would appear that there are a wealth of extras sitting around the THQ offices. Read more… »

The Indie Love Bundle
By: | February 14th, 2010

There’s nothing like getting something for a great price, and this Valentine’s Day, you can pick up a set of great indie games for only $20. The Indie Love Bundle is a collaboration between indie game developers to bring their best titles to the masses on this day of love, for pretty damn cheap.

Titles include And Yet It Moves, Auditorium, Aztaka, Eufloria, and Machinarium. If purchases separately, all five titles would cost you over $85, so its really a no brainer, especially if you love indie games.

Putting aside the nightmare of actually speaking that title aloud, this is sure to come as a pleasant surprise to anyone who played Real-Time Strategy games in the mid to late 1990s. The first three games in the classic series Command & Conquer have been officially released for free.

While it looks as if this is mostly to drum up interest in the upcoming Command & Conquer 4, due to release next month, there’s certainly no excuse not to wallow in a bit of nostalgia with these genre-defining classics.

When Darksiders was released back in January, the very first batch included a mystery code which said in huge letters, “DO NOT DISCARD”.  THQ promised that the point of the code would eventually be revealed, but they’ve remained silent about it until now.

Well those of you who actually purchased an early copy of the game, and haven’t traded it back in yet, are in for a treat.  If you go to the Darksiders website, you can use this mystery code to get a FREE copy of Red Faction: Guerilla for either the PS3 or Xbox 360.  Click the jump to learn more details about this incredible free reward. According to Ars Technica, via an underground source, Microsoft is planning to announce two new Xbox 360 bundle packs by midnight tonight.  The two bundles in question are set to release alongside both Splinter Cell: Conviction and Final Fantasy XIII, setting their street dates for March 9th and April 13th, respectively.

These two bundles will apparently be similar in nature to the Modern Warfare 2 bundle released earlier in the fall, in that they will come packed with a sizable 250 gig hard drive, as well as two wireless controllers, color coordinated with the console.  Since the Splinter Cell console will be black and the FFXIII console white, the controllers included will follow suit.
