PlayStation 3 owners may be a little late to the party, but a demo of Lost Planet 2 will definitely be coming to PSN later next Thursday. To quell the many raging fanboys, Capcom has done the smart thing and thrown in some extra exclusives for the Sony demo. Suffice to say, these relentless, Lost Planet-hungry crowd should be rather pleased.

It’s been known for some time that Tatsunoko Vs Capcom, a crossover game in the vein of Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 featuring characters from the popular anime company – Tatsunoko – is being released in America. It has also been known that not all the characters from the Tatsunoko roster would make it into the game due to licensing issues. Lastly, we knew that the U.S release would see new characters from both the Capcom and Tatsunoko sides.

Well, yesterday, a member of the community at Shoryuken.com found something interesting at TvC‘s Japanese website – something interesting which inadvertently revealed all the new characters we’d be seeing in the stateside release.

Developers GRIN were forced to close their doors earlier this week, stating that cash flow problems were the main reasons for their departure. Despite their less-than-stellar swan song videogame Terminator Salvation, the developers did craft numerous fine titles including Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and the sexy Bionic Commando Rearmed.

Remember when Capcom said the “PSN date to be announced soon,” regarding Marvel vs. Capcom 2? Well, today Capcom made good on their promise by announcing that the super hero smack down will arrive August 13, two weeks after the Xbox 360 release.

Many suspect that the delayed PS3 release is due to a rumored retail pack. If the rumors are true, PS3 owners will have the option to pay $20, compared to the XBLA/PSN price tag of $15, for a DVD with exclusive wallpapers, an 8-page manual, one month of access to Marvel Digital Comics and 2,000 Capcom Unity points. Earlier this week, Capcom accidentally released Resident Evil 4 on the Japanese App Store. Capcom today confirmed on their twitter account that Mobile: RE4 will, indeed, be getting a world-wide release, with the Japanese getting the first release at the end of july.

Today Capcom announced that re-release of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will hit Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday, July 29. While there is currently no firm release date for the PS3 version, Capcom’s Twitter states, “PSN date to be announced soon.”

The classic team based fighting game features comic book and videogame characters duking it out. Some characters included are: Ryu (Street Fighter series), Wolverine (X-Men), Morrigan (Darkstalkers series), and Iron Man. Read more… »

Getting a Rise Out of the Dead

I recently finished my first playthrough of Dead Rising for the Xbox 360.  I know that I’m coming to the party a little late, but after playing the game, it’s better than not turning up at all.  I can comfortably say that it was one of the most entertaining and challenging experiences on my home consoles.

Not because it was one of the best looking games or had the best gameplay, but it captured the heart of the B zombie genre without skipping a beat.  I pray to the zombie gods above that they keep that spirit alive in Deadrising 2. Read more… »
