Patrons of the Call of Duty franchise consider the choice of weaponry provided by the developer incredibly important to the gameplay experience. Those of us eagerly waiting for Modern Warfare 2 have heard little about the guns that are to be available in the game.

A fansite, Modern Warfare 2 Blog, has just posted a list of all of the weapons seen in the various demos, teasers, trailers, and gameplay videos. It’s quite an extensive list, and these fans have done an excellent job compiling it.

If you’re a Modern Warfare 2 junkie, hop over to their fansite for a moment. They’ve compiled every little piece of information there is to know about the game.

It’s great to see the game release calendar for November loosen up a little bit. For many developers and publishers not releasing AAA titles, it gives their new IP a chance to shine in its own time slot.

In the case of Bayonetta, the reason was two-fold. Sega West president Mike Hayes said that there are a lot of concerns among developers regarding the recession. In that respect, the decision of many publishers to push release dates into 2010 is quite logical. The second reason? Translation. Hit the jump to see what else Hayes had to say.

“It was purely practical reasons to be perfectly blunt,” Hayes said in an interview with Kotaku yesterday. “Bayonetta’s coming out in Japan [this October] but we then need to translate it…. that is one issue. The bigger issue, is that in the western markets, unlike in Japan, bringing out new [intellectual property] in that November period, really, really, really is a challenge.”

It is unique to delve into the minds of the developers and publishers. Q1 and Q2 of 2010 are shaping up to be as awesome as the holiday releases.

The video game industry posted $848 million dollars in the month of July, which is a 29% decrease compared to the same month last year. While many take this as negative, you have to realize that there is always a real lack of AAA titles in the summer. People might just also spend more time outside.

It’s no surprise that Wii Sports Resort and NCAA Football were striving for top honors this month. If you combine sales on the PS3 and Xbox 360, Electronic Arts beat out Nintendo by 104.8 thousand sales. Nintendo came out on top with DS and Wii sales, with a combined number of over 700 thousand units last month. Hit the jump for a breakdown of all the top sales.

It seems that as soon as The Conduit appeared on radar after being hyped up by IGN, that almost everyone knew about it. Initially bloggers and gamers alike touted it as the Wii’s Halo killer, but nothing could be confirmed. Rumor after rumor passed by, pairing up High Voltage with this or that publisher. Even Nintendo of America was one of the rumored contenders.

The Conduit finally landed in SEGA’s court, and they handled the publishing of the game. It was a somewhat surprising pairing, but no body really blinked an eye after it was confirmed. You might be wondering how SEGA’s interest in The Conduit began, and why they decided to publish the game.

SEGA product manager German Fritsch filled us in during a recent Radio-Blodec podcast.

“SEGA is expanding enough to reach all types of people and recognized that there is much potential in the different consoles. PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 have a more conventional demographic. In the case of Wii, it’s assumed, or it looks like, other publishers are thinking of making more casual games. But SEGA recognizes that there are gamers like all of us. We have a Wii to make use of the controls, SEGA wants to give players an opportunity to have fun with the console and The Conduit was the perfect title.”

The portion of the picture, which is included after the break, confirms that the Xbox 360 Elite will see a price drop to $299.99, which spells doom for the Xbox 360 Pro.

Could this price drop be in response to all of the Playstation 3 price cut rumors? Perhaps. Microsoft is doing an excellent job setting themselves up for doing a lot of business this holiday season. Microsoft has been hush-hush about this price drop, and this leaked image may loosen their lips. If they say nothing this week, perhaps next week at Gamescom.

For many gamers, the Hardened Edition of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is essentialy due to Call of Duty Classic being included alongside the tin and art book. People who do not purchase this edition will have to shell out the Microsoft points to buy it separately. Until recently, there was narry a clue to what the cost might be.

UK retailer, Play.com, has posted a detailed listing for the Hardened Edition of Modern Warfare 2. In this listing it specifically says that there is equivalent DLC value 1200 MS points (£9.99). This is the first indication seen regarding the price for Call of Duty Classic.

Until Activision issues an official press release, this will stay marked as a rumor.

Unlike most of the others titles in the Final Fantasy series, we have known about XIII for an incredibly large amount of time. Japanese game developers always keep tight lipped about their important projects, only releasing a bit more information once or twice a year. As we near the Japanese release for the game, things are changing as the minds of the people are swept up by Final Fantasy XIII.

At a Tokyo Q & A session Square Enix president, Yoichi Wada, said that the release date for Final Fantasy XIII will be announced in “a few weeks”. Although no specific indication was given by Wada in this direction, the announcement could happen at the Tokyo Game Show near the end of September.

Wada also went on to say that the game would be present in some form in September at the Tokyo Game Show, although that could be taken in several directions.

Final Fantasy XIII is currently set to release in Japan near the end of 2009, while North America will wait on Spring 2010.

Often gamers will scoff at the announcement of downloadable content prior to the release of game. It is doubtful that the notoriety that Modern Warfare 2 is likely to receive will save it from upcoming scrutiny.

With over eight million copies of the Variety Map Pack sold for Modern Warfare on the Xbox 360 and PS3, preparing downloadable content for the sequel is an obvious choice for total revenue that can be tapped from the title.

Activision CEO Mike Griffith said this in a conference call for Activision Blizzard stock holders: “We plan to launch two separate map packs for this title.” What’s interesting about this statement is that they are only planning two specific map packs. There are to be no more, and no less.

This announcement comes as no surprise, but it really seems a bit premature. It goes without saying that Infinity Ward is putting the final touches on the shooter, but if you look at the facts we really do not know much more about the multiplayer other than customizable killstreaks. Why are they announcing add-ons when we know little about the actual game?

Modern Warfare 2 releases on November 10th, 2009.

If you’re an avid online gamer who is consistently using Xbox Live, it is very likely that your friends list is near or at the 100 gamertag cap. While there has never been a concrete answer given as to why that number was chosen, there has always been someone who wants it to be higher.

On CheapAssGamer podcast episode #94, Xbox Live Community Manager Major Nelson said that the average was anywhere from twenty-five to thirty, and only a few had their lists maxed out. Therefore raising the number was not a big priority.

There has never been any confirmation that they are working on raising the cap until recently.

Microsoft’s Steve Willet reported to Patrick Klepek at G4 that Microsoft made a promise long ago to raise the cap, and it is something they’re slowly working on. Willet said, “It is absolutely a continued focus and I am not [a] technical architect that you could tell you why it’s capped there, but I will say it continues to come up, it is something that will not be forever, but I can’t give you a real time horizon on when it’s going to change.”
