My name is Shawn Evans, and I'm a 30 year old avid gamer who lives in Raleigh, NC. I have been playing video games since 1987, when my parents bought me my first video game system, the Atari 2600. Since then my love for gaming has grown a little more with each passing year. I currently own an XBOX 360, PS3, Nintendo Wii, and DS, and I play each on a pretty regular basis. Recently my love for gaming has blossomed into a love of writing, which has brought me to Game Limit to be a senior writer. The rest, as they say, is history.

MW2 Launch Trailer

Spending the minute and thirty-two seconds it will take to watch this Modern Warfare 2 launch trailer will change your life forever.  All those reservations you might have had about purchasing the game will fade away as your senses are bombarded with some of the most intense looking gameplay to ever grace a game console.

I honestly don’t understand how anyone can’t be excited about this game.  It’s the sequel to one of the best selling and best reviewed console games of this generation, and there’s still so much that’s not even known about it.  It also has a huge amount of controversy surrounding it right now.  What is there not to love about it?

It feels like Darksiders has been in development for an extraordinarily long period of time.  If I didn’t know better I would think it was a Blizzard game, but alas it is not.  It is however looking more and more incredible every single time I see a new trailer for it.

Take this latest trailer for example that just got released today.  I don’t know how you can watch this and not be even the slightest bit interested in this game.  You get to play as one of the four Horsemen of the apocalypse as you take on both angels and demons in a fight to save our world.  I’m telling you now, this is going to be the sleeper hit of 2010. I woke up this morning to wonderful news!  Electronic Arts has just released the first teaser trailer for a new American Mcgee Alice game, currently titled Return of Alice.  It’s been nine years since the original American McGee’s Alice was released for the PC, but unfortunately its twisted retelling of the Alice in Wonderland fairy tale never attracted much of an audience.

With this new one being released on consoles, hopefully it will get a lot more attention.  Unfortunately you’ll have to wait till 2011 to get your hands on it.  Until then, you can enjoy this freaky trailer. Continue Reading… »

23959 152765 YoshiMario2jpg 620x Famous gaming father/son trio celebrate Halloween

Halloween is only a week away, and as expected, a lot of gamers will be dressing up as their favorite video game characters.  Long time gamer Kevin Craine would love to do this himself, but he’s more interested in passing this timeless tradition onto his two sons, Jatin and Navin.

This father/son trio became famous last Halloween when their homemade Mega Man, Pit, and Captain N costumes were featured in EGM magazine and on the front page of Destructoid and Kotaku.  Well, a year has passed and Kevin is once again sharing his passion for video games with his sons by creating them an incredible Yoshi and Baby Mario Costume.

Read on to see some pictures of these amazing costumes and to find out more about how they were made. Continue Reading… »

Every time I think I’m ready to put my Wii away for good, Nintendo goes and does something that reminds me why I fell in love with them in the first place.  Take this newly released New Super Mario Bros. Wii trailer for example.

After only a single minute of in-game footage, I’m completely convinced I want to buy this new Mario title.  All the old school style gameplay elements, served up with new shiny graphics and a heavy dose of co-op, makes this game a must have for my slowly growing Wii library.

Take a gander for yourself, then let us know if you’re interested. Continue Reading… »

terminus Mass Effect 2 coming to a galaxy near you January 26

Electronic Arts has officially announced that Mass Effect 2 will be launching in North America on January 26th, with the European release coming three days later on the 29th.  In addition, they have also posted details about the pre-order bonuses for the game, which will come in the form of special armor suits for your characters.

Unfortunately, no information has been given to indicate whether a collector’s edition will be released, but something tells me Bioware has something special up their sleeve.  At least there is a firm release date, so we can all start planning to take that day off work/school.

Read on to find out more about the Mass Effect 2 pre-order bonuses and to see some new images from the game. Continue Reading… »

PS3 Slim 250Gb PS3 Slim launching November 3rd for $350

Sony has officially announced they will be launching a new sku of the PS3 Slim with a 250Gb HDD on November 3rd for $350.  So far the new system will only be released in North America, but there’s a good chance other regions will eventually get it as well.

The boost in hard drive space is the only difference between this new version and the current 120Gb Slim, so don’t expect any other additional features.  This is simply another alternative for people who think 120Gb isn’t enough.

The question is, will anyone want to spend the extra money for the larger hard drive space? Continue Reading… »

Sony Bluetooth Headset

It appears that a Naughty Dog employee might have let slip that the next PS3 firmware update will contain the long awaited cross-game voice chat functionality.  This information comes from a Playstation.com forum post in which a user with a “Naughty Dog Dev” stamp has been quoted saying “the next PS3 firmware update is going to allow cross game chat.”

Of all the features that Sony has yet to implement on the PS3, this is probably the most requested.  The fact they haven’t added it to the system has been a point of contention amongst many PS3 and Xbox 360 fanboys.  I myself think this is the one hurdle the Playstation Network has left to leap before it can be considered on par with Xbox Live.

Do you think the PS3 needs cross-game voice chat?

Best Buy People Best Buy honoring “Buy 2 Get 1 Free” Toys R’ Us deal [Update]

The gaming world has been given a rare gift this week with Toys ‘R’ Us launching a “Buy 2 Get 1 free” deal on their entire video game selection.  With both Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend releasing on Tuesday, it doesn’t take a genius to decide where to go to buy these games.  Unfortunately, toy stores nation wide have been selling out of both titles extremely fast, leaving gamers to wallow in misery.

Have no fear, because reports are coming in that Best Buy stores all across the country are honoring the Toys ‘R’ Us deal.  Considering they have a much larger selection of games, and they stock more of each, Best Buy is definitely the best place to go to take advantage of this incredible deal.  Make sure you call your local store first though, as it’s not 100% guaranteed that every one is matching this offer.  Continue Reading… »

GameStop is having a midnight launch event tonight for those of you who absolutely can’t wait until tomorrow to begin playing Uncharted 2: Among Thieves or Brutal Legend.  Over 800 stores nation wide are participating in the event and a complete list of all those can be found here.  Doors open at 10PM for people to begin lining up, but the games themselves don’t actually go on sale until midnight.

For those of you who can wait, I recommend bypassing GameStop and heading over to Toys R’ Us tomorrow for their “buy 2 get 1 free” deal.  This way you can buy both Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend, and then get a third game of your choice for free.  I personally think waiting 12 hours is worth a free game, don’t you?

So how many of you can’t wait and plan on attending the midnight launch tonight? Continue Reading… »

Intergalactic Crime Fighting 101

With the October 27th release of Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time quickly approaching, those zany kids up at Insomniac have the game’s marketing campaign in full swing.  Their most recent video comes in the form of a public service announcement, whose purpose is to teach the hero in all of us how to spot a super villain.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I like to think that I’m well versed in spotting evil maniacal overlords.  Typically their biggest giveaway is that they have some overly ambitious plan to take over the world.  Of course there is also the deep evil sounding laugh that always seems to echo just the right amount.

Don’t take my word for it though.  Hit the jump to see this new video yourself and discover how to spot a super villain in Ratchet and Clank Future: CiT. Continue Reading… »

Christmas must have come early this year, because two of the most anticipated games of the Fall, Forza 3 and Brutal Legend, just had their demos released on the Xbox Live Marketplace.  If you have a gold membership you can go download them now and begin drooling all over your controller as your experience how incredible they are.
