My name is Shawn Evans, and I'm a 30 year old avid gamer who lives in Raleigh, NC. I have been playing video games since 1987, when my parents bought me my first video game system, the Atari 2600. Since then my love for gaming has grown a little more with each passing year. I currently own an XBOX 360, PS3, Nintendo Wii, and DS, and I play each on a pretty regular basis. Recently my love for gaming has blossomed into a love of writing, which has brought me to Game Limit to be a senior writer. The rest, as they say, is history.

dac25 MSI threatens its video card customers with revealing email

People who’ve purchased and registered MSI video cards all received a shocking mass email this evening, which has angered many, including myself.  The email, sent from the MSI HQ User Forum and Support Team, and written in horrible English, appears to be a response to the large number of RMA requests the company has received recently.

It begins by insulting its user base for not knowing how to read manuals, stating the “team is fed-up with explaining [to] you what can be found in the manual”. It then continues on to reveal MSI has installed “RTFM-chips” on their video cards that monitor and report back user behavior.  The email concludes by threatening to not support anyone who damages their video cards or who doesn’t read the manual by the first of next month.

To read this completely ludicrous email in its entirety, hit the jump. Continue Reading… »

PSP Birthday Cake Playstation Portable turns 5 today. PSPgo still sucks!

I remember when Sony first announced the PSP at E3 back in 2003.  It was supposed to be the end-all, be-all of portable entertainment devices, with a brand new format called UMD that would revolutionize the industry.  When it finally came out in North America on March 24th, 2005, people quickly learned it wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies like Sony promised.

Well it’s been five years to the day since it was released, and the little system with big dreams has come along way.  It’s had four different variations released, all with a plethora of color options, and there are now at least a dozen or more games worth playing.  Unfortunately, the runt of the litter, the PSPgo, is still an overpriced piece of crap.

Happy birthday Playstation Portable, and congratulations on reaching five years of mediocrity. Continue Reading… »

MW2 Map Pack1 First Modern Warfare 2 map pack priced at dated

If you are one of the millions of people who are still playing Modern Warfare 2, even though its multiplayer is broken beyond repair, then this is your lucky day.  Details and pricing for the game’s first downloadable map pack have been released, and it appears that killing has a steep price tag attached to it.

For the completely absurd price of $15 (1200 MS Points), you’ll be able to slaughter your enemies in one of five new maps, two of which are actually “slightly reworked” maps from the original Modern Warfare.  Xbox 360 owners will get first dibs at this DLC when it launches on March 30th, followed by the PS3 and PC versions which will be available at some undisclosed date in April.

For more information about these new maps, hit the jump. Continue Reading… »

Halo Reach Halo Reach video doc will make you believe in Halo again

One thing that has always amazed me about the video game industry is the ability of some companies to actually make you excited about their upcoming games, even if you had no interest at all initially.  The latest example of this trend is Bungie and their newest game Halo Reach.

As I already stated yesterday, I am no big fan of the Halo series.  I like it, and I’ve played all the games, but when a new addition to the series is announced, I don’t jump for joy like a lot of people do.  It therefore shouldn’t come as a shock that Halo Reach hasn’t really peaked my interest all; that is until I watched the new video documentary Bungie released today.  Now I’m extremely excited about this new Halo game, which is a feeling I’ve never experienced before.
