Koch Media announced Wednesday that it had acquired the rights to the Saints Row and Metro franchises, and that it had put Deep Silver at the helm of these titles moving forward. The Austrian producer also announced the acquisition of Volition, the development studio behind Saints Row and Red Faction. This is the latest to come out of the dissolution of the once mighty THQ.
How Deep Silver will interact with Volition remains to be seen. However, in the announcement, Koch CEO Dr. Klemens Kundratitz said, “[w]ith more than 200 games on notable platforms globally, and its proven success creating renowned franchises like Dead Island, Deep Silver is perfectly positioned to lead these brands into the next generation of interactive entertainment for fans around the world.”
Here’s to the continued life of the two franchise and the development studio (with or without zombies).
