The latest doomsayer “magic date” is tomorrow, 21 December 2012. Last time it was 22 August 2006. Oh, and remember the whole 1999 Y2K theory?
Ok, I’m not saying that the world won’t end tomorrow. I’m not saying that it will. What I’m saying is, if you were to bet one way or the other, what would be the odds? Deep Silver, the folks behind upcoming Dead Island Riptide, worked it out. We have the release date somewhere down there as well.
Relying on their totally reliable London based bookies, Paddy Powers, they’ve come up with the following:
- Zombie Apocalypse – 2,000 to 1
- Environmental Disaster – 1,000 to 1
- Nuclear Holocaust – 1,500 to 1
- Super Massive Asteroid – 3,000 to 1
- Aliens – 5,000 to 1
Hey, if you’ve been spending your money stockpiling toilet paper, batteries, and MREs, might as well place a bet. Paddy has set the max to £10, or roughly $16.23 USD according to Google. Paddy also has the odds that the sun will rise tomorrow at 1 to 1,000.
Just in case you were wondering, Dead Island Riptide will be released 26 April 2013 for the Playstation 3, XBox 360, and PC.
