Hope you like your Xbox 360 because you’re not getting a replacement. Well you will eventually, but Microsoft isn’t talking about that this year. Company spokesperson David Dennis recently told Bloomberg that they have no plans to show off any new Xbox hardware at this year’s E3 conference.
Later the company elaborated their position in a statement to Kotaku, “While we appreciate all the interest in our long-range plans for the future, we can confirm that there will be no talk of new Xbox hardware at E3 or anytime soon. [...] With Halo 4, Forza Horizon, Fable: The Journey, and other great Kinect games on the way, our 2012 Xbox lineup is our strongest ever.”
Back in January, Sony’s Kaz Hirai said the company wasn’t planning on showing a new Playstation at E3. So far it looks like Nintendo is the only company that’s talking about their next home console. Personally I hope this current console cycle continues for a few more years as devs continue to get better and better working with the current hardware.
