You may have noticed that Gamer Limit’s reviews have been going through some changes lately. These revisions include everything from the graphics we use, to an increase video content and an update of our Official Review Policy. While reviews are in the spotlight, I would like to take this opportunity to discuss the nature of reviews, how Gamer Limit reviews games, and explain how our scoring system works.

Culture Magazine has found evidence to believe that many pro-gamers use marijuana to enhance their abilities. In a recent interview with Gameplayer, Australian World Cyber Games tournament director Alex Walker stated that he’s “seen a number of players at national tournaments who came in ‘baked’ purely so they could play better”. Interesting stuff, but apparently there’s more than just anecdotal evidence to support beliefs that marijuana boosts gaming performance.

XSeed is living proof that publishers can make a living off localizing weird, niche Japanese titles in Western markets. They’ve some of my favourite Wii titles, including Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon and Little King’s Story. Nintendo may not be keen to bring Japanese RPGs stateside, but it looks as though XSeed is game.

It looks like Microsoft’s year of exclusivity is running out on last year’s hot XBLA titles. Not only is Limbo preparing to make the jump to PlayStation Network, but Konami has Castlevania Harmony of Despair slated to release on Sony’s digital service later this summer. We enjoyed the game when it launched last year and now PlayStation 3 owners will be able to get in on the action.

Team Meat may be working on its follow-up to the absolutely outstanding Super Meat Boy, but it looks as though one of the developers has something else on the back burner. We may be salivating for our next helping of meat, Edmund McMillen has been slaving over a hot stove. For the past two years he’s had a side project in the works called The Binding of Isaac and here are the first details on the title.

The Steam Summer Camp event is coming to a close – and that doesn’t just mean the end of sick daily sales events. Along with 10 days of discounted games, the “Summer Camp” event itself allows you to hunt for achievements within Steam games (and Steam itself) for exclusive Steam DLC, and even one free game!

The event is pretty simple – for each listed Camp achievement you complete, you get a ticket. You can redeem three tickets for a prize, such as Alien Breed 2 , Team Fortress 2 summer glasses, and Portal 2 costumes. Even if you’re not interested in achievement hunting, personally I’d go for three super easy ones, and nab Alien Breed 2 - I mean, it is a full, free game.

In my opinion, the easiest tickets are “Join the Summer Camp Official Group”, “post a comment on a friend’s Steam page”, and “recommend a game to your friends”. See, that was easy, wasn’t it? Follow this link for a full list of rewards, and get going!

Section 8: Prejudice was a fun little romp when it hit XBLA earlier this year. Now, TimeGate Studios is back and ready to drop a new game mode and map pack on XBLA and PC. The Frontier Colonies Map Pack will release for a cool $3.99 / 320 MSP on July 13th and the new “Skirmish” mode will be arriving for free later this summer. No word yet on that impending PlayStation Network release, but we’ll let you know when it’s coming.

A little over a week ago we reported that it looked like hit indie title Limbo would be coming to the PlayStation Network sometime soon. Playdead’s Dino Patti announced on the PlayStation Blog that the title would be coming to the American PSN on July 19th. European PS3 owners will have the opportunity to download Limbo the following day.

Additionally, the game’s official website has Limbo slated for a worldwide release on August 2nd. While the game launched over a year ago on Xbox Live, Patti hopes “everyone will enjoy the game and the little extra secret [they] have in store” for PS3 and PC gamers.

The PAX 10 highlights ten of the hottest new indie games on the market. They’re also some of the best games to check out on the PAX showfloor. Some of last year’s winners included Bastion, Super Meat Boy, and Retro City Rampage. Out of hundreds of submissions, this year’s winners have been chosen.

Which games made the final cut? Hit the jump to find out.

Last weekend Ignition showed off the demo of El Shaddai that we previewed at E3 to the folks that attended Anime Expo 2011. Shane Bettenhausen, Ignition’s Business and Marketing Director, discussed El Shaddai’s religious source material . He hopes that the game won’t be seen as another religiously-themed title that just tries to “sell” religion.

Bettenhausen went on to say that Ignition “wanted to take this text and treat it in a new way, to give it to a team in Japan that doesn’t have any connection to that. They’re not religious in that way, so they could treat it as just mythology and create a new graphical style and a new gameplay style.” We’re certainly looking forward to delving into El Shaddai when it lands on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this month.

The clouds we see in the sky come in all shapes and sizes. They can be fluffy, misshapen and flat, lined with silver or rainbows. With the recent announcement of Happy Cloud officially open for business July 18, the cloud gaming space is starting to look just as varied as the sky.

Happy Cloud, similar to OnLive and Gaikai, hosts games on their servers and streams them onto the player’s PC. This saves them from having to wait through long download times. However, unlike with the other cloud gaming services, players are downloading the game as they play and thus winding up with the full title on their PC’s.

Nintendo has announced that Europeans will be able to get their hands on Xenoblade Chronicles on the 19th of August. If you’re willing to run down to the high street, British retailer Game will be offering an exclusive pre-order bundle for the highly anticipated title. The bundle features a red Classic Controller Pro, three A1-sized posters, electronically signed by Monolith Software founder Tetsuya Takahashi, and the game itself.

Back when I lived in the UK it seemed like exciting Japanese games rarely made it to the European continent, but we sure did get a lot of FIFA. It’s nice to see that Europeans will be able to get their hands on some exciting releases for once, even if North America is getting the shaft this time around.
