Not your typical fanboys, Ahruon and Orkimedes are the brain trust behind a lovely game called Card Saga Wars. What makes this game (and thus these two individuals) so special is that it lets you pit characters like Master Chief and Samus against one another in card art style battle. The concept of crossover battles is nothing original, but, judging by the gameplay videos that have surfaced thus far, they have gone through great pains to make things just right.
Of course you want to see more. Why would I even ask that question?
Ahruon and Orkimedes have put M.U.G.E.N., a freeware 2D fighting game program, under the hood of this downloadable title. It’s a monster of a game, as they’ve been fine tuning this vehicle of awesome since 2007. With every year that passes, Card Saga Wars just keeps looking better and better. Something of appeal to purveyors of fighting games, controls will be a hybrid of Street Fighter and Super Smash Bros., with combinations, a dedicated button for specials, etc. Expect support characters as well, something they’re calling “Green Cards”.
The lineup isn’t set in stone, but the list so far is nothing short of epic.

If you want more, I encourage you to visit their website. It’s in Spanish and I won’t be providing translations this time around. Thank God for Google Translate, right?
Now, people have been buzzing about the Master Chief vs. Samus video most recently. While that one is awesome, that’s not my favorite.

So Master Chief is in the header screenshot, but not in your list of playable characters?
Top notch.
Ummm … he’s there, between Kos-Mos and Ivy. Sorry it’s not in alphabetical order, though.
He is now, because you just added him – and moved most of the Chrono Trigger characters to the “Green Cards” list.
Why not just admit the mistake?
Whooooooo cares!
The writer ninja-edited the post, and then tried to hide it.
I care because I’d like to see GL rise above the general trash of gaming blogs, and half-assed reporting coupled with shenanigans like this are exactly what will hold it back.
I don’t believe you.
One of the benefits of never closing browser tabs.

Don’t lie to your readers – and definitely don’t try to pawn your mistakes off on them.
You got some nice ninja editing skills yourself. Photoshop?
Legitimate screen cap. Nothing I can say or do will prove that to you – nothing within the scope of effort I’m willing to apply to this meaningless debate, anyway – so I won’t bother.
It will be wonderful in Francisco would step up and admit his shenanigans – but oh well.
Again, top notch.
I win.
Ah, good ol MUGEN.
Alphabetical order would have bee preferred. All good though, caus it’s X Strike FTW!
Oh snap! This looks awesome!
By the way, what games are “Sonic” and “Donkey Kong” from?
I’ve been hearing about this game for years. I hope it actually comes out someday. The trailer I saw looked awesome.
Looks interesting though some of the character choices are a little wonky. Why use one character from RPG’s with like 8 character party lineups etc. Either way it looks cool and hopefully one day will see release.
Do they have the licences to these characters?
Don’t think so. MUGEN is freeware and they must be making this game free to download. Don’t think Square Enix n friends will mind as long as it’s free.
