What? That was my initial reaction when I read about Valet Parking 1989, the new DSiWare game from Zordix AB. Hit the jump for more details about this “neon lit” game where you “park cars for a living.” Read more… »

Melancholy music, a shady figure climbing through the window and a disappeared woman – these are some of the trademark elements of a 1940’s B movie. Add monsters to the mix and you have The Next Big Thing, Pendulo Studios’ latest foray into the point and click adventure.

Some gamers may scoff once they read the genre. Of course point and click has seen better days as it seems, outside of licensed games and established franchises, there is a substantial lack of originality in this particular space. But these scoffing gamers would be at a loss to just shirk The Next Big Thing. Instead of trying to redefine the genre, it finds originality by staying true to its essential pillars and excelling on every one – challenging puzzles, in-depth dialog and quirkiness of plot. The game even manages to pull off a couple surprises in the process.

Chances are that you didn’t play the original Section 8, and even if you did, you might not have the best things to say about it. The campaign wasn’t impressive in the slightest, and multiplayer lobbies were noticeably devoid of players. It wasn’t awful, but at least there was plenty of room for improvement.

It’s been nearly two years and TimeGate Studios is back with Section 8 Prejudice. All in all ,the TimeGate development team is looking to raise the bar of what gamers can expect from downloadable shooters: and at just a $14.99 price point, it’s hard not to bite.

We all only have One Single Life: unless of course, we’re talking about our favorite fantasy nether realm - the video game world. Often times we’ll run into buildings in Call of Duty without thinking, or jumping over a gap in Mario without surveying the other side first – recklessness is just one of gamer’s many idiosyncrasies. While you still have your various consequences, some games, such as Prince of Persia, go a step further, and remove the element of death entirely.

But what would happen if, after you died one time, even by mistake, the game was completely over?

The word Equestrian has its roots in the Latin term equinus – meaning of or related to horses. This week’s Games of the Week is specifically dedicated to Equestrian sports. That means everything from the rodeo to dressage, fox hunting, polo, and show-jumping.

Battlefield 3 is getting a lot  love on Facebook, with approximately 781,000 likes as of this article’s publication. This is accelerated no doubt by EA and DICE’s  promise to release a full 12 minute gameplay trailer once they reach 1,000,000. You don’t have to wait that long. The trailer is out and Gamer Limit has it for you.

Perhaps EA and DICE were too excited, perhaps they had certain PR deadlines that just needed to be met. In any case, it’s a win for fans and gamers in general. It must be noted that the trailer with commentary is yet to be unlocked. That won’t stop you from enjoying this eye popping video, however. If you have never gotten your hands on any of the games in the Battlefield series, this trailer may motivate you to do so in anticipation of this beauteous game.

Fair warning — not safe for work language is included in this video ahead.

Japan has a myriad of head scratching attractions that are borderline appalling. Yet, strangely enough, they draw a certain following that seems to flourish in Japanese society: Maid Cafes, Gyaru Mamas, Snack Bars, Karaoke, Cat Cafes, influence of sex fetishes, etc.

If none of those things send you straight to Google Search, then get ready for Purikura – The video game industry’s answer for the female market. But wait! Is it a video game or nothing more than a photo booth?

The Warhammer 40K universe is a pretty rough place. You’ve got Nazi like Space Marines trying to ensure humanity’s survival by purging all Xenos, the extremely expendable Imperial guard allied with the Space Marines (for the most part), the Ork hordes plundering and pillaging worlds as they please, Chaos Space Marines who have fallen off the deep end and now fight ancient dark gods slaughtering anything, the Tyrranid hive consuming worlds like a plague of locusts, and the space-elfish Eldar who are always plotting ways to mess up everyone’s plans.  Like I said, it’s a tough place, and it only gets tougher in the latest standalone expansion Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War II: Retribution.

For those of you who already are fans of DoWII or its other expansion Chaos Rising, you probably have a good idea what Retribution is all about. If you haven’t played any of the previous games, hit the jump and allow me to break it all down for you. Read more… »

It might please you to hear that you’ll be playing  Ocarina of Time and Star Fox 64 in glorious 3D by the summer. That’s June 19th and July 14th, respectively, to be specific.

A few outliers notwithstanding, the 3DS launch  wasn’t the most impressive thing in the world. Nintendo shipped a unfinished console with promises of upcoming features, and a lackluster line-up of games. Hopefully these 3D re-releases of N64 classics will tide us over until the big titles drop onto the handheld.
