After months of teasing we finally get a real look at Spicy Horse Games’ follow up to American McGee’s Alice. Soon we have the opportunity to once again delve into American McGee’s twisted incarnation of Wonderland. It’s looking positively insane, so we will definitely be following this game closely over the coming months.

The madness returns on June 14th. Try not to let the wait drive you too crazy.

Back in September I was up in Seattle walking the PAX show floor. There were hundreds of games on display, just waiting to be played, ranging from high profile titles like Killzone 3 to smaller unknown indie games like The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile.

I walked up to the booth where I was met by Ska Studio’s marketing coordinator Dustin Burg. The monochromatic visual style and fun beat ‘em up combat struck a chord with me right away. I was really enjoying it when something absolutely terrible happened. Dustin told me that it’s exclusive to the Xbox 360, sorry fellow PlayStation fans.

Our loss is your gain though, The Dishwasher Vampile Smile is landing on XBLA April 6th for a cool $10 (800 MS Points). If you’re attending PAX East I would definitely recommend stopping by the Ska Studios booth to check it out.

Gamer Limit recently got its hands on a preview of The Next Big Thing, Pendulo Studios’ latest adventure set to release in just a little over two weeks. Pendulo has been trickling teasers for some time now — videos and pics touting the game’s seemingly sleek and shiny art style, and its zany characters, but not much has been revealed about the overall story or gameplay. The preview spoke volumes to all these points and then some.

Now, if you haven’t heard about Pendulo Studios or The Next Big Thing until now, you get a pass. Pendulo, in their five game career, have focused solely on point-and-click adventures. Gamers old enough to have owned a PC with Windows 3.1 understand when I say this genre has seen better days. This is not to mention the fact that the studios hail from Spain where, according to the developers themselves, gaming didn’t hit it big until the 90′s. These can be insurmountable odds for the faint of heart. From the first few chapters we were able to preview, the title will go above and beyond beating them while bringing vibrant life to PCs and Macs worldwide.

Today UK developer Rebellion Games, best known for their Aliens vs. Predator games, announced that it has opened up a new social division. This new branch of Rebellion will be responsible for creating games for Facebook and other social media outlets.

When asked about this new division, Co-founder Jason Kingsley said, “One thing that has become increasingly clear over the last few years is that gamers can’t be defined as just people who own consoles. People who use social media like Facebook or use smart phones all play games and this is an exciting opportunity that we want to explore.” Read more… »

Killzone 3 may be gaining rave reviews, even our own Kyle MacGregor has expressed his admiration for the game, but I’m unconvinced. While the multiplayer is definitely a step up from Killzone 2, the single player campaign left me less than impressed.

In fact, I believe that the single player campaign in Killzone 3 is three steps backwards for the entire series. Hit the jump to hear why I think Guerrilla squandered a ton of narrative potential with this game.

It’s Monday and that means another smattering of downloadable games on your respective current-generation Nintendo console of choice. My top pick for this week is Bomberman Hero for the N64…despite the fact that it doesn’t have a multiplayer mode. That may be a deal breaker for some, but I really remember having fun with this one back in the day.

The rest of this week’s games await you after the break.

Madden 12 Locked Out?
By: | March 6th, 2011

Are you afraid that there might not be a Madden NFL 12 this year? With all the pandemonium going on right now regarding labor negotiations between the NFL and NFL Player’s Association, it appears that many Madden fans are indeed pretty frightened about a lockout affecting the next installment of their yearly fix of football. Luckily, EA is here to assure us that all will fine on our 360s and PlayStations - regardless of what happens in real life.

“Fans of Madden NFL will not have their seasons interrupted regardless of when the labor issues are resolved. EA SPORTS will release Madden NFL 12 in August, complete with exciting new features and product innovation that will allow NFL fans to fill their desire for football. NFL players will continue to be featured, as always, in Madden NFL 12. The only credible source you need is right here. Any other information you get is inaccurate.”

Personally, I wouldn’t mind too much if EA eased up on the yearly sports sequels (and what better time to do so than a lockout season), but it appears as though I’m in the minority on this one. Oh well, don’t mind me while I sit here and pull out my GameCube for some NFL Blitz 20-02.

I just finished Final Fantasy VI yesterday (or is it III? Either way the one with Terra and Kefka). While I can see why the SNES version is sitting comfortably with a 93% on GameRankings.com, I found some flaws with the game. Namely with the characters.

Don’t worry, Kefka the insane clown was one of my favorites, probably because of my nearly crippling fear of clowns. It’s some of the heroes I have problems with. Read on to find out why I think the characters are Final Fantasy VI‘s greatest strength and its biggest weakness. Read more… »

CoD BLOPS! I don’t know why, but phonetically pronouncing the acronym is really fun.

Either way, if you’ve been on something of a CoD hiatus now might be the perfect time to get back into the swing of things.
