The last news mash-up came like a real bad hangover right after new years. This one is somewhat of a hangover, if you’re the type to drink on a Wednesday (on which I pass no judgment; I’ve been there). Let’s begin, shall we?

Are you a fan of No More Heroes? Well, in that case it might excite you to know that Suda 51 is definitely interested in producing a sequel to No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle. During the Grasstream earthquake relief event where Frog Minutes, Grasshopper Manufacture’s new iOS charity title, Suda 51 spoke about the possibility of a third game.
The Grasshopper CEO said that while “it won’t happen soon, [he'd] like to do it at some point”. Series character designer, Yusuke Kozaki, added that he’s created so many characters that didn’t make the final cut in the first two games, that there are enough left over for another two No More Heroes titles.
Well, that’s not exactly the best of news for those of us yearning for more Travis Touchdown. If you really need your fix, an HD version of the original game has recently been re-released under the title No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise. As of now its only available in Japan but should be gearing up for a Western release shortly.

One of the most difficult things about being a gamer is seeing Japanese releases of our favorite series or most anticipated titles in Japan months before it ever hits foreign markets: i.e. US, UK, and AUS. The other difficulty is knowing that sometimes our favorite titles will never reach foreign soil. It’s a sad fact and facing those difficulties is something we’ve all had to confront at least once in our lifetime.
But wait! For those who are not deterred by cultural boundaries and language barriers, you can be one of the select few in this world that have had the opportunity to play the unobtainable. But before you delve further, I have to tell you that I’d be lying if I’d said I have the answer to all your problems; I don’t. But with a little work and dedication, anyone can turn a daunting obstacle into a rewarding experience. Read more… »

Grasshopper Manufacture, the guys behind No More Heroes and Killer 7, released a game called Frog Minutes for iOS devices earlier today. Our Editor-in-Chief, Chris Carter, was nice enough to forward us the image above from his iPhone.
While it appears to be some sort of nature documentary meets arcade game, Frog Minutes boils down to collecting and feeding different types of bugs to, yes you guessed it, frogs in effort to catch them. Not necessarily the punk rock style we usually see from Suda 51, but its definitely a little off the wall.
Frog Minutes only costs $0.99 and proceeds go towards Japanese disaster relief.
Here’s the new trailer for Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. The trailer features Jill Valentine and Albert Wesker out in full force, battling several of the enemy types from Resident Evil 4. The game is looking absolutely fantastic, and its hard to believe something that pretty is coming out on a handheld.
Yet, I’m not entirely sold. Don’t get me wrong, the Mercenaries modes in Resident Evil 4 and 5 were a lot of fun. However, until now these bonuses have provided little more than a diversion to be offered alongside excellent standalone campaigns. Hopefully Capcom can fully flesh out the experience by the time the game joins the growing 3DS library.
While this trailer doesn’t really tell us a lot about the game, it looks like Operation Raccoon City is going to be much more action oriented than past titles in the series. Despite the limited amount of information on the title, comparisons have been drawn between Operation Raccoon City and titles such as Left 4 Dead and Gears of War.
Capcom pioneered the survival horror genre with the release of Resident Evil fifteen years ago, and revolutionized the third-person shooter genre with Resident Evil 4 in 2005. It will be interesting to see how contemporary takes on zombies, survival horror and third person shooters, which all arguably owe something to Capcom’s innovations, will be reflected in Operation Raccoon City as we come to know more about the title.
Have you played through the Arrival DLC? Has it got you even more excited for the release of Mass Effect 3, or did you expect more than an hour of gameplay?
Dragon Age 2 is building up quite a bit of lore both on and off the consoles (or PC if you’re so inclined). Here’s the story as it stands: a gamer named Bastal posted a thread on Bioware’s SocialNetwork entitled Bioware Neglected Their Main Demographic: The Straight Male Gamer. He claims DA2 neglected its core audience by making homosexual romance just as prevalent as heterosexual romance, an unjust ratio in his view.
This prompted Bioware’s senior writer, David Gaider, to tactfully respond in defense of the non-straight male gamer, straight females and homosexuals a.k.a. everyone else. He stated that romance is there for all, and no gaming audience should be neglected whether they’re the base or the minority. Instead of getting + 1′s for inclusion and cultural sensibility, however, he got a gay gamer appalled and petitioning for his being fired. Are either of these reactions justified?
The third installment in Square Enix’s beloved survival horror series, Parasite Eve, is landing on the PlayStation Portable today. Players will return to Manhattan, once again taking control of series protagonist Aya Brea in her mission to dispatch the hideous creatures descending upon the city.
For Square fans out there, the packaged release comes with a bonus code which unlocks Lightning’s Aya Brea costume in Dissidia duodecim. The 3rd Birthday is available in both UMD format and via the PlayStation Network for a cool $29.99. If you’re unsure, the full Gamer Limit Review is forthcoming.

It’s no secret that my current gaming obsession is StarCraft II. I’ve been absolutely swept up in how competitive the game is and how the eSports community has rallied behind it. Competitive gamers, myself included, are really banking on SC2 to bring Korean style eSports to the West.
One small step in this process is getting relatively mainstream news outlets to report on the professional SC2 scene. Today the good folks over at PC Gamer published an article titled “The 5 StarCraft 2 players you should be watching – America & Europe.” Complete with links to games, “real” sports counterparts and all the other important information (what race they play, where they’re from, age, etc.) the article does a great job of introducing gamers who are not familiar with eSports to the scene. You wouldn’t really know it from playing the games, but the folks over at Guerrilla Games have put a great deal of work into crafting the universe of the Killzone series. If you’ve ever been interested enough to dig into the history of the Extrasolar Wars, the series has a rather compelling and impressive backstory that, unfortunately, really hasn’t found its way into the games yet.
Continuing this tradition is an official live action short from Guerrilla Games. The film deals with a series of correspondence between two friends, one on Vekta and the other in exile on Helghan. The short takes place during the events leading up to the dawn of the Killzone series and the Extrasolar Wars. It’s actually quite interesting and once again raises a few questions regarding the series overarching narrative.

Today, Capcom has confirmed its latest Resident Evil title – Operation Raccoon City. The publisher is partnering with SOCOM Confrontation developer Slant Six Games to develop the franchise’s first third-person team-based shooter.
The game will follow the Umbrella Security Service through the events of Resident Evil 2 and 3. While not much is known about the title, Capcom has teased three-way competitive multiplayer between US Spec Ops, Umbrella security forces, and the infected threat of zombies and Bio-Organic Weapons.
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will be landing on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC this winter.
