Today Sony announced that PlayStation Plus subscribers will be getting some free Sega Genesis games. On top of being free, subscribers get these retro games before they are available to the rest of the PlayStation audience. Be warned though, they will only be available for a limited time.

The games that will be available include: Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Golden Axe 2, Comix Zone, Altered Beast, and (my favorite game ever made) Streets of Rage 2.

I’m down for some Golden Axe 2 and Streets of Rage 2 (why not the original?)!

I’m tempted, but not by these titles alone. They got some interesting deals.

  2. I already pay for one subscription service (XBL) and I think that’s one too many. I’m happy that PSN is free, and I don’t want to be into their PS Plus stuff, even if it means I’ll be missing out on the occasional freebie.

  3. This is the first time an announcement related to Playstation Plus has actually made me wish I was a member. Still not buying, but this is a helluva nice set of games for those that do.

  4. avatar PS Plus Subscriber

I signed up for PS Plus when it first released and it has paid for its annual $50 fee just about every two months in free stuff (games, themes, avatars, qore vids and freebies, etc). When it comes time to redo my subs, LIVE is getting dropped to silver and PS+ is staying.

    • For the first few months, I refused to buy it, but once Sam and Max hit, I had to. Since then I’ve easily picked up over $120 in value, and some neat perks like an infinite MAG trial, which I can fool around with Move on.

The best part is that it works on my PSP as well – Spyro 1 and 2, along with Crash 2 for free was a pretty great deal, considering I can play them on both platforms.
