The time has finally come! Gamer Limit is ringing in the new year with of the best games 2010 had to offer. The Gamer Limit staff has nominated and selected the top games of 2010. Plenty of great games joined the libraries of the PlayStation 3 and PSP systems this year.
The nominees for Gamer Limit’s Sony Games of the Year include: Heavy Rain, Dante’s Inferno, God of War III, Red Dead Redemption, Valkyria Chronicles II, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. But, who won? You’ll need to hit the jump to find out.
PS3 GOTY – God of War III
Given the significance of God of War I and II, the standard for God of War III was extremely high: thankfully, Sony was able to meet that golden standard, exceed it, and deliver one of the most stunning action experiences on the market. When Shawn Evans reviewed God of War III back in March he said it was ”a delight to play and a pleasure to behold” from the epic opening sequence to the finale for PlayStation’s most visceral series.
“There are more epic moments in the first thirty minutes of God of War III than most games manage to fit into an entire ten hour play-through.” Sounds like one of the top games of 2010 to us.
PSP GOTY – Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Everyone was skeptical when Hideo Kojima said the next entry into the Metal Gear Solid series would be on the PSP. In the past portable games have rarely, if ever, approached the depth and quality of their console brethren, but that trend is starting to change.
Plenty of awesome games hit the PSP this year. But it was Peace Walker that really caught the eye’s of our writers and editors. Somehow, Hideo Kojima and his team at Konami manged to squeeze a full console sized Metal Gear Solid title into that tiny UMD format without sacrificing anything. That is one of the many reasons why it is our PSP Game of the Year 2010.
