Today developer Red 5 Studios announced its latest project. Dubbed Firefall, the “team-based action shooter” is said to feature persistent elements. As to what those persistent elements are, your guess is as good as ours.

Taking inspiration from both Section 8 and Borderlands, Firefall will see gamers seamlessly transitions from 1st to 3rd person perspectives while zipping around massive maps with jetpacks. Gamers can expect some intense vehicular combat as well. To get a better idea of who Firefall will shape up, hit the jump and check out the 10 minute gameplay trailer.

I have to say, this game is looking pretty sweet. I’m a big fan of the cell shaded-ish art style, as well as the easy perspective transitions. Currently slated to arrive sometime in 2011 on the PC, I’ll definitely keep an eye out for more details as the release date inches closer.

What do you guys think? Is this a game you’ll be anxiously waiting for? What do you think about this whole persistent element business? Let us know what you think with a comment below.

YES PLZ!!! :) But seriously, i love the cell-shading, and the rest looks pretty intriguing, even given my ‘eh’-ness over shooters.

  2. I just hope it isn’t one of those games where they just mash different genres/games together and it turns out to be a pretty bleh experience. That said, Red 5 is made up of a bunch of former Blizzard developers (Who worked on WoW) so that gives me a lot of hope.
