Today Microsoft announced (via Major Nelson) that it’s looking for some gamers to test out the beta version of it’s next big Xbox Live update.
What’s included in this update? For starters, there’s a new dashboard, an on demand ESPN service, an updated Netflix application that allows for searching, Zune music, and other various fixes.
In order to jump on this opportunity, just head over to Microsoft’s Connect website and fill out the proper forms. It is important to note that, while an Xbox Live Gold account isn’t required, it will get you “priority” during user selection.
It is also note worthy that participating in this beta will introduce a new audio codec for voice chat. This means that, if you are chosen to be in the beta, you’re voice chat will not work with people who are not in the beta. According to the website, “Because you are participating in an exclusive pre-release program, you will not be able to voice chat with non-participants during the preview program period.”
What do you guys think about this? Are you excited to check out the next big XBL update? Which of these new features (if any) pique your interest and why? Let us know with a comment below.
