Today Microsoft confirmed that the Xbox Live Primetime MMO trivia game 1 Vs. 100 will not be returning for a third season.

Dave McCarthy, General Manager, Microsoft Game Studios stated: “When we started on this journey, we knew we were creating an entirely new genre of entertainment that would be a continually evolving concept. We’re very proud of the ‘1 vs 100′ team and their accomplishments, and are excited to apply what we’ve learned to future programming.”

Microsoft added that the 1 Vs. 100 team is “focusing their skills and applying the technology used to develop “1 vs 100″ to new projects that will be unveiled in the future.”

While I never really got into 1 Vs. 100, I did play a little of the beta. While I found it somewhat enjoyable, I just wasn’t patient enough to stick with the game when it went live.

What was your experience with 1 Vs. 100? Were any of you guys really into it? Was it a popular game post beta? Also, what do you think these “new projects” that will utilize 1 Vs. 100 technology are? Let us know what you think by leaving a comment below.

  1. I’m bummed. 1 vs 100 was something I looked forward to playing each and every time it was on. Got my girlfriend a Gold Live account because she enjoyed it so much. It’s a shame with all it’s success (110K+ simultaneous users, only counting US/Canada) that it didn’t last longer.

Now how about a You Don’t Know Jack live show to replace it?

  2. Gutted. I loved 1 vs 100, even with all the connection loss problems and entire lack of a human presenter for season 2 of the uk version!

Man I loved it, would gather all my housemates and we’d sit there for hours trying to get into the mob, debating over which answer was correct etc. Shouldn’t someone make a petition?
