[Updated with a rad new hotrod video, and me busting out my skills at a dance party]

Goblins have long been known in World of Warcraft as the “joke race”. With tons of hilarious characters like Shauly Pore, who constantly spouts the word “buuuuddy”, Dr. Boom, and even Podracers, Goblins are always good for a few laughs. However, in Cataclysm, Goblins are serious business: they’re a full selectable playable race, and a large proportion of them are abandoning their previous stance of neutrality, instead choosing to join the Horde.

Since the beta did not include a full introduction, I recorded my own, which takes place in the starting area, approximately a minute into starting a new character. Stay tuned for my full impressions on both the Worgen and Goblin races in an upcoming Scattershot piece. Spoiler: I like the Worgen a lot more than Goblins at this point. Read more… »

The time has come for World of Warcraft coverage: wives, run for cover! In this segment, we’ll take a look at one of the two new races set to debut in Cataclysm: the Worgen.

Worgens are best described as “humane werewolves”. They have the passive skills of Darkflight (70% increased movement speed for six seconds), Viciousness (1% damage increase), Aberration (Duration of Curses and Diseases reduced 15%), and Flayer (Skinning skill increased by 15, no knife needed), and are currently loyal to the Alliance.

Read on for more screenshots of the Worgen questline, and stay tuned for Goblin coverage, as well as Cataclysm dungeon coverage with my level 80 PTR copy – make sure you watch the video at the end!

Now I know we are supposed to write something fancy and formal here.  I get the premise and I appreciate it but actions speak louder than words and by hell this Infamous 2 footage that GameTrailers just dropped screams in your face like a megaphone abusing Godzilla.

The footage, taken in-game from the recently announced Sucker Punch sequel, looks nothing less than phenomenal.  Don’t take my word for it, start the thing running whilst reading this and I guarantee you won’t make it more than a few moments before my words melt away and your eyes melt with tears of joy.

We’re all busy people, and it’s no surprise that we don’t tolerate a lot of the bullsh*t that games feed us. Recently, one writer for a popular game site refused to review Nier because he couldn’t figure out a fishing minigame, citing that “you shouldn’t tolerate games that waste your time.” Well, that makes sense, doesn’t it?

Aside from his inability to fish in the correct spot, his argument isn’t quite as straightforward as it may seem. While I didn’t exactly love my 20-hour affair with Nier either, and while I agree that games have no right to waste our time, the reality is that even a bad game can be worth our time.

It’s pretty simple really! Check out the above and below videos for a glimpse at how you can customize your new race choices in the upcoming World of Warcraft Cataclysm expansion. The Worgen have a very Twilight vibe to them, and the Goblins, well, apparently love the jungle. Worgens (essentially werewolves) start off in the eerie town of  Duskhaven, located in Gilneas, and the Goblin starting area is located in Kezan.

Apologies for the quality – I wanted to get them up as soon as possible so you guys could have a look. Hit the jump for the Goblins. Read more… »

In a recent interview, David Cage, creator of Heavy Rain, mentioned that all upcoming Heavy Rain DLC has been put “on hold” due to his studio shifting focus to developing for the PlayStation Move.

According to Cage: “They are on hold to allow the team to work on Move and on new projects, and I doubt they will ever be produced. I did not want to postpone the work on our next projects spending one more year on Heavy Rain, and given the time and attention we put in developing our games, this is what it would have meant.” Read more… »

If you guys are anything like me, you played through BioShock 2, fiddled around with the multiplayer, and haven’t touched the game since. That may change in the future, however. Today 2K Games announced that BioShock 2 will be getting several breaths of fresh air from a some upcoming of single-player DLC.

The first batch of single-player DLC is dubbed the ‘Protector Trials’ pack and charge gamers with keeping your Little Sister “safe from the intense onslaught of Splicers as she gathers ADAM from corpses.” Read more… »

Another Kinect limitation has surfaced. After reports that the device has issues with seated gamers, it now appears that it only supports two active players at once. The online store Play recently posted the technical details of Kinect, which included a statement that it tracks two active players and up to six people.

So what does that mean? Probably that any games requiring skeletal tracking will have a two player limit, with the possibility that an additional four players can play in support roles. Microsoft has yet to confirm a player limit, but according to Play, the information was supplied by Kinect’s manufacturers. If that’s the case, then this revelation is likely accurate. Read more… »

There was once a time when mascots ruled the world. After the notorious video game crash of 1983 (otherwise known as the Atari Debacle), Nintendo managed to single handedly change people’s perceptions of gaming by introducing a large roster of instantly recognisable characters that offered far more than two lines and a dot. What could be regarded as the Nintendo Renaissance period, the company were able to transform the industry standard by upping quality control and ensuring that players will have the best possible gaming experience thanks to the Nintendo Seal of Approval. Apart from about 70% of the games still being truly awful.

But I digress. If you think about Nintendo’s achievements, it’s baffling to see how far they have come. However, while it may seem that they have a limitless amount of franchises to work with, Miyamoto is still on the look out for fresh blood in an attempt to revitalise of what could be considered a dying breed of gaming.
