Today word got out that the adventure games powerhouse Telltale Games has obtained the rights to create episodic games based on the classic film franchisees Jurassic Park and Back to the Future; fitting news considering it’s Michael J Fox’s birthday today.

Currently slated to arrive on the PC, Mac, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii this winter, the unnamed games are being described as “in the early stages of development.” Telltale CEO Dan Connors explained, “The games are going to exist within these worlds. I wouldn’t call these games sequels per se but a new interpretation of their worlds for a new medium.”

Connors went on to say, “I think it’s a prime time to reintroduce these properties in the digital world. Telltale Games has always set out to be a great storytelling company. We’ve been honing our chops over the past six years, and we’re ready to take on these two iconic properties and continue to advance storytelling in games.”

Being a child of the late 80′s and early 90′s, I can assure you that nobody is more excited to see Marty McFly or Doctor Grant than I am. I just can’t wait to see what Telltale has in store for these rich worlds that have been neglected for so long. I can see it now: hoverboard mini-games, time-line changing hijinks, rocking solos at 1950′s school dances, out running raptors, and befriending stegosauruses.

What do you guys think? Are you excited to see these classic film franchises receive a proper gaming port? Do you trust Telltale Games with these beloved franchises? What kind of adventures do you think Telltale has in store for us? Let us know what you think by leaving a comment below.

  1. ……………………………

    THAT’S THE POWER OF LOVE.

    • Don’t need money… Don’t need fame… Don’t need a credit card to ride this train….

      pure poetry…

    • Hip to be Square and I Need a new Drug are great too.

Hell, Huey Lewis is just great. I actually saw someone with a Huey Lewis and the News T-SHIRT the other a day! I’ve never seen that in my life! It was amazing, and I want it.

    • Back when I was working at FedEx, my roommate and I celebrated the weekly holiday Huey Lewis Wednesdays. Needless to say we’d be rocking out to The News on our way to work.

  2. Great scott, my excitometer just went straight to 88!

  3. Jurassic Park game?

It’s a shame that Splinter Cell already took the name Chaos Theory.

    • Jurassic Park: Chaos Theory… Take on the role of Doctor Ian Malcolm as he works game on Ellie while the power is out…

      I’m sold.
