Today word got out that the adventure games powerhouse Telltale Games has obtained the rights to create episodic games based on the classic film franchisees Jurassic Park and Back to the Future; fitting news considering it’s Michael J Fox’s birthday today.
Currently slated to arrive on the PC, Mac, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii this winter, the unnamed games are being described as “in the early stages of development.” Telltale CEO Dan Connors explained, “The games are going to exist within these worlds. I wouldn’t call these games sequels per se but a new interpretation of their worlds for a new medium.”
Connors went on to say, “I think it’s a prime time to reintroduce these properties in the digital world. Telltale Games has always set out to be a great storytelling company. We’ve been honing our chops over the past six years, and we’re ready to take on these two iconic properties and continue to advance storytelling in games.”
Being a child of the late 80′s and early 90′s, I can assure you that nobody is more excited to see Marty McFly or Doctor Grant than I am. I just can’t wait to see what Telltale has in store for these rich worlds that have been neglected for so long. I can see it now: hoverboard mini-games, time-line changing hijinks, rocking solos at 1950′s school dances, out running raptors, and befriending stegosauruses.
