Live tweet coverage coming at 2:00PM PST:

Earlier this year it was rumored that ESPN, the world’s largest sports broadcaster, would eventually be coming to the Xbox 360 .  Well, during the Microsoft press conference today the service was officially debuted, touting its access to over 3500 sporting events the first year alone.

The service will be fully compatible with Kinect, allowing viewers to control the live stream with either their hands or their voice. If Kobe Bryant does a 360 slam dunk over LeBron James, you can say “replay” and you’ll automatically get to watch the epic dunk again and again.  No release date has been announced for the service, but it will be available for free for all Xbox Live Gold Members. While some may be questioning the new name for the codenamed Project Natal, one thing you can’t question is the functionality. As many people already know, if you invent something that lets people execute a task in a quickier, easier way, you are onto something. Voice recognition in Microsoft’s Kinect aims to do just that.

No need to get up, no need to pick up that remote, just speak up. Microsoft Kinect will provide voice recognition commands which will allow easy interaction of Xbox 360′s user interface. “If you see it, just say it.” Read more… »

[UPDATE]: Gameplay video now added.

In the Microsoft Press Conference today at E3, Hideo Kojima and producer Shigenobu Matsuyama displayed, for the first time, gameplay footage of Metal Gear Solid: Rising featuring the cybernetic ninja Raiden of Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 fame. Most of the footage showed Raiden running around, sword in hand, slicing and dicing his way through multiple enemies, with the Metal Gear flare we’ve all come to love.

The most intriguing part came with what was simply dubbed in the video as “Cut what you will,” followed by Raiden carving his way through building columns, vans, and in Hideo Kojima fashion, a watermelon. At the end, the video asks “What will you cut?” I don’t know about you, but I plan on cutting just about every-damn-thing at midnight the day it comes out. Check back at Gamer Limit later for gameplay video once the Microsoft Press Conference is over, as well as all of your E3 2010 coverage needs!

Today at the Microsoft Press conference, Peter Molyneux, creator of the Fable series, stated that “your journey leads you from revolutionary to ruler” – that’s something we already knew from before.

But what we didn’t know was that Fable III is releasing on October 26th, 2010, this year. Gamestop previously listed it at November first, but now we know the truth! Are you planning on pre-ordering it, or are you disappointed with the series enough to skip this one?

“When you plan to play Call of Duty for the next 3 years, you want to play it on Xbox 360″ – words that were uttered today at the Wiltern Theater.

Just like with Modern Warfare 2, all map packs will now be timed exclusives on the 360, starting with Treyarch’s Black Ops. If there’s one thing I could say about Microsoft, it’s that they know how to lock down their timed exclusives. GTA IV is just one of many titles they brilliantly scooped up before the competition, which only meant tons of lost sales for the very tardy PS3 version.

With most of the crew heading to E3 and Australia becoming the biggest flop at the World Cup so far, I’m attempting to drown my sorrows in any game I can get my hands on.

Come inside and let us know what you’ve been playing this last week, and if there anything on the radar for the next seven days of gaming!

Gamer Limit user Keith commented last week about Red Dead Redemption’s hydrophobic protagonist, whose life is extinguished without warning whenever he encounters water more than, oh, waist high. If you’re anything like me, your first time discovering this was accidental, maybe stumbling off of a dock. In my case, the next moments were spent staring at my screen asking, “Really?”

I actually find myself asking the question “How is this still acceptable?” rather often when I’m playing games. There are certain design flaws or failings that just seem like they should have been fixed eons ago, yet they still crop up, and often in some extremely high quality titles. So let’s all put on our bastard hats and tear into those design flaws that are well and truly unacceptable.

Following on from last week’s teaser trailer, a brand new trailer for the upcoming Killzone 3 has surfaced, only this time it features true gameplay footage.

Taken from the “Frozen Shores” mission, the video showcases the brutal melee system that was hinted at in the teaser trailer, along with some new pieces of kit including a Helghast jetpack and WASP missile launcher.

It all looks very slick indeed, and should hopefully live up to its predecessor. Stay tuned for next week’s Sony E3 conference where more details are likely to emerge.

Former Bioshock developers Tyr Edge and Fennec Black have teamed up to form LunaVu, an company devoted to producing indie games. Their first labor of love is called Zero Point and is being billed as a cross between the action and strategy games.

Story details are few and far between this early in development but it seems players will take control of a technician charged with defending research equipment from varying waves of aliens and monsters. Armed with a plasma cannon and an ambiguous device called a lunar shepard, you must destroy the monsters before they can destroy your equipment.

In an attempt to avoid doing what would be expected from a retrospective Sonic review, I thought I would start things off by actually praising Sega’s beleaguered mascot rather than cynically pulverising the poor thing into a bloody pulp. Indeed, while it is difficult to ignore the copious amounts of tripe Sonic Team have developed over the recent years, there was once a time when the spiky blue hedgehog reigned supreme by offering a speedy alternative to those who were bored of Mario’s arguably pedestrian gameplay.

What really wowed the public was the game’s sense of speed – there were death defying loops, springs, speed ramps, corkscrews and special stages galore all of which made up for an electrifying experience. It was the character’s unprecedented sense of speed which really appealed to the more mature gamer, effectively making Sega a significant contender by the time Sonic 2 was released.
