Gamer Limit Banner

Every so often you will stumble across a list that is so unbearably inconsistent that it can only be considered illogical to the educated gamer. And boy, this one is no exception.

The Guinness World Records: Gamer’s Edition thought they would approach the voting process differently this year by asking the public what they think is the greatest gaming franchise of all time. By doing this, they effectively created a monster. Not only is the list offensively redundant, but it only seems to focus on contemporary hits rather than actual classics. But hey, what do you expect? Just check the weekly charts and you’ll see what I mean.

Hey guys, just wanted to remind you that the Limitcast is recording this Monday, May 8th, live at 7:30 PM EST on account of Mother’s Day.

Yeah, we love our Moms.  Wanna fight about it?

Today Nintendo revealed a new title following in the foot steps of Wii Sports, Wii Play and Wii Fit. Dubbed Wii Party, the new casual game promises to be “a marquee party game.”

According to Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, “We are developing it with the intent that every Wii player will be able to find a game that can be enjoyed.” Iwata went on to add, “the developers are spending significant time for this title so that they can include elements that are must-haves in a party game as well as making sure that adequate volume of game play are available.” Read more… »

As mature titles have evolved over the decades, they have often drifted towards the more realistic rather than outrageously violent. While gaming is a form of entertainment, the demand for a realistic experience – even amongst violent titles – is becoming more and more the norm.

Enter Dead To Rights: Retribution. GameCentral were spot on when they described Retribution as “the world’s least anticipated title”, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t get a few hours of gruesome entertainment for your troubles.

EA have just confirmed that the latest instalment in the long running Medal of Honor series will be released in Europe on October 15th, a whole month before Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops.

It has yet to be announced that this will be case for US owners, however it seems as though EA are keen to push the game in an attempt to avoid lacklustre sales.

Huckleberry Finn sure changed

It’s becoming increasingly common for DLC to be made available for games shortly after release. However, it’s rare to see it offered for free. Well, that’s just what Rockstar is promising for their upcoming Western, Red Dead Redemption.

What’s even more surprising is that the DLC will actually provide a substantial amount of new content. Read more… »

No, your eyes do not deceive you – this is indeed the correct day for this week’s PSN Store update. I know, I nearly forgot as well, but from now on the weekly European PSN Store update will be taking place on a Wednesday as opposed to Thursday.

To celebrate this momentous change, Sony have stocked up the Store with a strong host of content, including a playable demo for the upcoming riotous racer Split/Second: Velocity, Kick-Ass: The Game, some astronomically overpriced DLC for Modern Warfare 2 and, er, the soundtrack for Flower.

Read on for a full listing of this week’s PSN Store update.

Today developer Ubisoft Bucharest announced that it is currently working on the sequel to Tom Clancy’s dog fighting franchise H.A.W.X.

So earlier today we had the first screens from Gears of War 3.  The pictures looked great and the artwork was interesting (and colourful for a change!).  Although, the old adage did not ring true, these pictures did not tell us a thousand words.  Instead they confused us with Russian articles and weird squiggles.

Luckily we live in a digital age and some good fellows over at the Epic forums have translated the whole shooting match for the world at large.  The main points are contained below but I will say – be careful as there are spoilers within.

Gaijin Games next entry in their Bit.Trip sieries, Runner, is quickly coming upon it’s release date. How soon you ask? Expect Runner to sprint across your WiiWare channel on May 14th if you live in Europe/Australia and May 17th if you’re in America. It’s so close I can almost taste it!

And, although I’m not happy about waiting three whole days to get it, because their previous games have had much longer delays when making it to Europe/Australia (a month for the first two games and three for Void), I’m letting it slide… this time.

Now, if you need me, I’ll be sitting at my front door awaiting the return of my broken Wii and watching this video repeatedly.

In a massive glut of information Russian magazine Blowout has revealed some tasty looking information on the recently confirmed shooter from Epic.  Key amongst these revelations is what appears to be a large man-made island, rumoured to be where the majority of the action takes place this time.

Similar in style to the man made havens in Splash Damage‘s upcoming  Brink and offering similar environmental situations to the classic Metal Gear Solid 2, this seems a highly restrictive environment after the worm guts and city sprawling adventures of previous Gears of War titles.  Perhaps it will allow Epic to focus the action more providing a tighter more intense action epic.
