Sony really are terrible at keeping secrets.  Maybe it’s just indicative of distributed journalism with the advent of specialist blogs (like the one you are reading in fact).  Either way Sony just seem to be unable to keep any secret under it’s proverbial hat for very long.

Over the past month or so more than a few rumours have been circling about the existence of Killzone 3, the sequel to the 2009 Playstation 3 exclusive.

Now a sequel to Killzone 2 was inevitable and it looks like the pressure finally got to Sony and they went  formal release crazy over the weekend and yesterday (the full press release is at the end of this post).

By now we should all be used to hearing developers harp on about how much interest Hollywood has in adapting their product to the silver screen. Halo fans have had their hearts pummeled for the past few years by the likes of Peter Jackson and co., which doesn’t exactly bode well for the following news.

The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog has just revealed that Legendary Pictures have taken it upon themselves to turn BioWare’s sci-fi epic, Mass Effect, into a multimillion dollar film. Let us just pray that Uwe Boll doesn’t take the helm.

Remember back in middle school, there was that one weird kid who tried to be strange just to get attention? Well, if that kid was a video game, he would be Zeno Clash.

Billed as a first-person brawler, Zeno Clash‘s single-player campaign follows Ghat, a man who has committed a crime against his tribe and is being hunted for it. Joined by his female companion Deadra, Ghat must venture across the various unique landscapes of Zenozoik in search of peace. Weirded out yet? You will be. Read more… »

Welcome to the weekly recap! Thanks to Google’s homepage, everyone knows that last friday was Pac-Man’s 30th birthday… so it’s very fitting that we have several retro games games reviewed this week. And what better week for an Atari 2600 inspired series like Bit.Trip to release its newest game Runner. And I just finished a Pac-Man drawing recently, so I’m even able to shamelessly self-promote my art stuffs with this week’s header!

But all these coincidences couldn’t have been on accident could they?

Since Booster Trooper is fresh in my head and the NBA lottery draft selection occurred only a few days ago, it’s only natural that I’ve been making many comparisons between the two. With some re-polishing, can Booster Trooper find its place in the video game industry? Do my lowly Clippers have an outside chance at picking Wesley Johnson or Al-Farouq Aminu? Among all the indie titles available this year, would I select this game in a draft; and how the hell did the Wizards steal the number one overall pick? GAHH!

With that being said, Booster Trooper is far from being the John Wall or Evan Turner of this year’s titles, but with some updates and time, can this game make its impression on the market? Read more… »

Super Meat Boy is going to be one of the best downloadable titles this year with over 150 levels and insane challenges to boot. However, it won’t be ready any time soon. If you’ve been looking to scratch your itch with another difficult platformer, you should try Orton and the Princess instead!

Orton is a Flixel-based platformer with eighteen levels to knock your head against, though the game’s humor is sure to dreg a few smiles from between curses. The music track is pretty awesome as well and while it is definitely no Super Meat Boy, you should experience it just to see the ending.

Our correspondents are all stocked up with laptops, free wifi, mics, cameras and probably far too much red bull. They’re ready and rearing to hit the floor and start reporting about everyone and everything.

Our coverage of E3 2010 is our second trip, and also is the first appearance of RAW. What the hell is RAW? Well, basically, there’s going to be a hell of a lot of everything going on at E3. You know this, we know this. So our emphasis is not to gloss it all up with funny little pictures and witty banter, like we normally do.

RAW is just that – the Raw feed. What the editors normally take from our journalists to mould will, for the week of E3, be posted directly onto the site. Our guys will tweak it a little bit to make sure its legible, but other then that – it’s going to be an information overload.

Which is a good thing right? (The answer is yes.)

So the second we hear it, you’ll hear it. If we see it, you’ll see it. Expect instant Twitter updates on show room impressions, as well as full length previews, with exclusive pictures and video.

So in the next coming month, look forward to commentary on the whole expo – from the conferences, to the games, to the weird and strange events that seem to occur every year. There will be podcasts, vBlogs, interviews from the floor, and heaps more.

Enjoy!

Considering how gamers go gaga over retro games, I’m surprised that Konami isn’t getting a lot of props. Over the last few years, they’ve done two retro revivals of Contra and Castlevania, along with Gradius and the relatively obscure Vandal Hearts series. Now, Konami has given us Rocket Knight, a game tasked with rebooting a seventeen year-old franchise that only saw modest success in its early days.

Personally, I never thought the Rocket Knight Adventures series was anything special; the controls were too wonky, and the camera moving only left and right made the game feel too claustrophobic. Thankfully, the team behind Rocket Knight understood this, and addressed both of those problems, while adding a few new moves for our hero to perform. Now, we’re in business; this is definitely what the Rocket Knight Adventures series was always striving for. Read more… »

Curses! I’ve benefited off every Gameloft promotion except this one – I actually bought Siberian Strike the first day I got my iPod Touch because I loved the demo so much. Confused? Read on!

Every day, one of the biggest iPhone devs, Gameloft, is giving away a free game with a small two hour window, at random times (sometimes even at 4:00 AM).

Siberian Strike still has a little time left (as of 12:30 PM EST), so go grab it now! Stay tuned to Gamer Limit, where we’ll attempt to keep you updated as much as possible.

Here’s a tip: even if you do not own an Apple device, download iTunes, make an account, and download the game for free! Who knows, maybe one day you’ll get an iTouch for Christmas, and you’ll have 100 free games waiting for it.

I don’t think I’ve been to the actual Google homepage in years (thank God for Chrome’s built in Google function!). The 30 year celebration announcement has spread like wildfire, but did you know the game has local multiplayer? Just hit “insert coin” twice, and control Pac-Man with the arrow keys, and Ms. Pac-Man with “WASD”.

While I’ve been waiting for a true official multiplayer Pac-Man game for years, I wasn’t really thinking coop. I want a PVP Pac-Man that lets the other players control Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde. There’s just something addicting about gobbling up your friends – did that sound right?

Play it here.

Both the PSN and XBLA have produced some phenomenal achievements in gaming: Braid, Fat Princess, and Shadow Complex just to name a few. But where there’s excellence, there always lingers the foul stench of failure.

Gaijin Entertainment’s foray into the world of arcade titles attempts to combine the intensity of Burnout Paradise with the loveable cheesiness of Need For Speed: Most Wanted. And while clones can often be entertaining to fans of that specific genre, sometimes a game just falls flat on its face.

Today long time strategy guide producer Prima has launched a new method of distribution that revolves around Valve’s Steam service.

Gamers can now purchase game guides off of the Steam store and access them in-game via the Steam overlay. A major advantages of the digital guide format includes video walkthroughs, which are obviously not possible in print. Read more… »
