Today a few details hit the Web about Activision’s new Spider-Man title that is set to arrive during “back half of the year.” Dubbed Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, the new title is slated to arrive on the Xbox 360 and Ps3 sometime in September of this year.
The web-slinging brawler is being developed by Beenox (Bee Movie, Monsters vs. Aliens). The main draw of this new Spider-Man iteration is that Spidey travels to alternate dimensions, represented by different art styles. So far only two art styles have been shown: “Noir” and the classic “Amazing.”
If some of you are skeptical about this primes, I don’t blame you. However, you should feel a bit at ease knowing that veteran comic book author Dan Slott is penning the story line.
Personally, I’m excited to see this game; not so much because of the dimension shifting gameplay, but rather because of what Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick has stated in the past. Back in January Kotick said “our Spider-Man games have sucked for the last five years.” Hopefully this incendiary comment will light a fire under Beenox’s behind and get them to crank out a Spider-Man title that is worthy of the brand.
