Gamespot, after many years of wrangling with IGN has finally taken a lengthy lead in traffic rankings. Gamespot has now held onto the number 1 Alexa (non-poker) gaming site traffic position for a solid month.
Could this be a sign of quality returning to Gamespot, or just a blackhole of a site consuming everything in its path?

A while back, Tommy Refenes (creator of indie gem Super Meat Boy) put a largely pointless app on the iTunes App Store: Zits & Giggles. You pop zits, and that’s about all; it’s actually kind of gross. It hit the store at the boring old app price of 99 cents, sold a few copies, and then the sales inevitably dried up.
Instead of dropping the price to free to re-spark interest (as many app devs are wont to do), Refenes tried something different: he raised the price to $15. Three people bought it anyway. So he raised the price to $50, and four more bought it. And so our tale begins…

Heavy Rain is a game that has divided opinions here at Gamer Limit. Some of us think it’s a glorified cutscene with obligatory button presses, others think it’s a welcome change of pace and a great narrative-driven game.
Heavy Rain’s influences are vast; movies like Se7en and Saw are easily spotted. Yet there is one gem of a game that hasn’t been praised for being a visionary of its time, and an obvious influence on Quantic Dream’s big PS3 exclusive. I give you: Road Avenger!

Technology is constantly changing. Some being large advances, while others are merely an iteration upon existing technology. Playstation Move is obviously an example of the latter.
Nintendo Wii proved to the world that motion control is more than capable of finding its rightful place in the video game industry. Captivating a new audience in the gaming space is no easy task. And yet, Nintendo’s established audience grows each and every month as the Wii consistently stands tall amongst its peers in sales.
But while Microsoft’s Project Natal is redefining motion control, Sony is iterating upon Nintendo’s success – all in the name of “precision”. Is that enough? Ultimately, does precision really matter?

What happens when you mix one part Gears of War, two parts Team Fortress 2, and one part Left 4 Dead together with a sprinkling of Wild West? Why, Lead & Gold, of course. Fatshark’s flagship product is now available for pre-order discount for PC users, though console players will have to wait a bit longer. In addition, if you pre-order now, you’ll get beta access to the game!
Lead & Gold is a unique third person shooter set in the Wild West, with four classes to choose from, all bringing unique benefits to the team. The Blaster, The Deputy, The Gunslinger, and The Trapper all work together so you have a demolitions expert, a scout, a bread and butter shooter, and a sniper, practically guaranteeing you won’t get tired of any style of play.

Welcome back to another riveting week of What Are YOU Playing? The shit has been flying every which way with divided opinion on Final Fantasy XIII; some love it, others despise it.
Thank god then that I’ve been too preoccupied with God of War 3. Come in and tell us what YOU’VE been playing!

A nifty modder who goes by the tag Steaky has released the first Team Fortress 2 mod worth downloading, The Great Class Dash.

After playing one of 2010′s more solid titles, Bayonetta, from SEGA earlier this year, I was extremely impressed (as were a lot of people) with the slick presentation and incredibly fluid and fun combat system. As we reported last month, gamers in Japan agreed, with the game selling 1.1 million copies within a very small exclusive window in the Land of the Rising Sun. This was followed by surprising critical and commercial success in the States.
Well, it appears that SEGA took notice. In a recent interview with CVG, SEGA’s Mike Hayes, after speaking about things like Sony’s ‘Move’ and Microsofts ‘Natal’ motion technologies and the markets SEGA has never conquered (in the MMO department), spoke on the possible franchising of their recent exciting IP’s and successes. Last week via the all-powerful and all-knowing entity that is Twitter, Dark Energy Digital announced a countdown was coming, and it was for something big…
With the countdown tick-tocking its way below sea level, Hydrophobia is looming ever closer ready to sweep you away with the current…ready to pull you under the waves…ready to make you wet? I should really stop making water-related puns and just tell you to hit the jump for extra content such as screens already, shouldn’t I?
