There can’t be a guy alive that hasn’t thought about paying a girl to play with him (if there was, there isn’t now), but I think most of that number would have been thinking of something a bit more intimate than sharing a game of Halo 3.

As part of the weird subculture within video games, GameCrush aims to capitalise on the apparently crushing loneliness of certain gamers in a bid for their wallets.

If you didn’t see this coming, then you are clearly blind, deaf, and dumb. During the Final Fantasy XIII launch party, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada revealed through an interview that Squeenix will “explore the possibility” of remaking the PSOne classic. Nothing is set in stone, as Wada reiterated that they have to decide “whether or not we’re going to do it, if we’re going to do it, and the platform.”

Though it may not be the ideal answer that us FFVII fanatics have been looking for, it’s definitely a step in the right direction. Read more… »

Just a few months after Media Molecule claimed a sequel would be “counter productive” to the Little Big Planet community, a Sony exec has leaked news of a sequel. It shouldn’t be that big of a surprise since developers, and the like, will lie at the drop of a hat to keep something “secret,” but I’d assumed MM was above that, for some reason.

Then again, maybe their plans just changed. After all, a lot has happened since last November: Media Molecule was purchased by Sony, Playstation Move has been officially announced and detailed, and there hasn’t been a whole ton of support for the PS3 version of Little Big Planet since the PSP version was released. Perhaps it was just a perfect storm situation for either a sequel or a reselling of LBP as a Move launch title.

OK, so the picture IS a joke.  There aren’t any images of the new system (yet), but it can supposedly create a 3D effect without requiring the use of those goofy 3D glasses that you had to wear at Avatar.

You know, like the Virtual Boy.  Except that Nintendo might know what they’re doing this time.

According to Sankaku complex, a gamer who was wallhacking in Counter-Strike got a harsh lesson when he was stabbed through the head with a knife – for his crimes against gamer kind.

The assault happened in the Nothern Provence of Jilin, China, when a mob of quite serious gamers noticed the boy wallhacking at a local internet cafe. What followed was an argument, and a knife to the brain.

As an avid Ocean’s Eleven and Mass Effect 2 fan, I can safely say that I’m pretty excited for Mass Effect 2′s first premium add-on, “Kasumi: Stolen Memory”. Priced at $7 (560 MSP), this pack will net you an extra character, and a mission that’ll last around an hour.

Obviously you can get why ME2 fans would be stoked, but why would this DLC make Danny Ocean salivate? Kasumi, an inter-stellar thief, is looking for a pretty rare item, hidden in an eccentric trinket collector’s mansion. Your mission is to pose as a guest, locate the vault, and steal the contents. Interested? Hit the jump for a random video featuring some of Kasumi’s dialogue, straight off her sweet sweet Queen Amadala lips. Read more… »

It’s hard to tell, but this has to be from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, the only SNES Super Famicom Zelda release.  Japanese commercials are… weird.  No gameplay, no information, just lots of costumes, pumpin’ music, and choreographed dancing.  Oh, and a giant Ganon puppet that bears a passing resemblance to Jabba the Hutt.

But that’s what makes it just so incredibly awesome.  It reminds me a bit of the Men In Black theme song, but taken to the next level.  The level of… Zelda.  Check it out after the jump!

Last week’s British Academy Video Game Awards awarded their coveted best game award, and the award for best gameplay, to Batman: Arkham Asylum.

An interesting turn of events, considering the Interactive Achievement Awards, GDC, and Gamer Limit picked Uncharted 2.

Read on for Square Enix London Studios’ response to the announcement. Read more… »

With the exception of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, fans of the survival horror genre haven’t really seen a quality title in quite some time.  Due to technological advancements and demand from audiences; faster pacing, fluid gameplay and graphical achievements have greatly evolved the genre over the past fifteen years.  And while its origins have been slowly fading into the abyss, there are still a handful of developers who continually try to recreate the suspense and terror that was once so popular.

Well, Pix Rev, a German dev team, is one of those developers. And let’s just say they’re not doing the genre any favors with their latest title, I’m Not Alone.  But despite its lackluster performance, there are moments that really captivate the player’s attention.  And so the question ultimately becomes: are those moments enough to help resurrect the genre?

If you dare, then read on to see if I’m Not Alone has the will to summon the dead. Read more… »

Greed Corp is an attempt to simplify the turn-based strategy genre by making a game that is less focused on combat and more on controlling space on the map. Of course, the irony is that all strategy games – turn-based or real-time – come down to map control more than fighting, regardless of how they’re made. Based on that, I can’t decide if W! Games completely didn’t get this and missed the point, or if they’re total geniuses for trying to distill the genre into its most basic elements.

We’re treated to an opening scene that shows a beautiful world – mostly beautiful thanks to its extremely happy-looking, bright colors – just in time to witness different warring factions trash the hell out of it. The cartoonish look, juxtaposed against the old jazz music, gives the game a lighthearted feel. …a lighthearted game about warring factions trashing the world to make more money.

The Weekly Recap: Poke-Walkin
By: | March 22nd, 2010

Welcome to the Weekly Recap! As you’ve no doubt seen from the past few recaps, Monday morning is when you should expect this to go live, that way it’s waiting for you Monday when you get up for work/school and are trying to pretend the weekend didn’t end.

Now, I’m sure there was a ton going on this past week, but it seemed like a huge blur to me since I’ve been obsessing over Pokemon HeartGold since I got it on Tuesday. It’s gotten so bad that I’m even using the PokeWalker at work and started walking from my apartment to where the mailboxes are just to get Watts and level up a stupid Metapod. I don’t know who had the idea to package a Poke-pedometer in with this game, but it was mean and cruel.
