Today PC gaming giant Blizzard Entertainment announced that its annual convention BlizzCon will return to the Anaheim Convention Center on Friday, October 22 and October 23 of this year.

According to the press release, “BlizzCon offers us a great opportunity to meet with our players and share our enthusiasm for gaming with one of the most passionate communities in the world.” Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime added “We’re looking forward to providing another great show filled with entertainment, competition, and the latest information about Blizzard Entertainment games.”

Unfortunately Blizzard has yet to mention ticket pricing and availability, stating it will discuss tickets “as the event draws closer.”

Last years BlizzCon featured the announcement of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, the unveiling of Diablo III‘s Monk player-class, and playable demos of StarCraft II and Diablo III.

This of course begs the question, ‘What do you think Blizzard has in store for gamers this BlizzCon?’ Let us know by leaving a comment below.

  1. Knowing how quick they are with new releases… probably the exact same thing as last year. :P

  2. I’m thinking about getting press passes and going this year. Is anyone else interested?

  3. I was thinking I’d love to go.

Then I saw the header image and decided I’ll pass. I’m old enough to have standards for this sort of thing.

  4. I think they’ll announce the new MMORPG. Eventhough they admitted they’ve been working on one not related to WoW, they may mention the name finally.

  5. Since they’ve been so adamant about Cataclysm being released this year, I’m willing to wager that a shelf date is announced at BlizzCon. If it’s anything like Lich King though, we’re likely to see a release date before then, and maybe we’ll get some insight into when Diablo III will be coming out.

  6. The headliner will for sure be the new Blizz MMO. They already said at the last Blizzcon that the new MMO was unlike any genre they’ve done so far. Funny as activision has hinted about a new COD with RPG elements…

If anyone can do a RPG/FPS hybrid it’ll be Blizzard I guess. Not sure how boss fights would go? Maybe they’d do scenarios instead? Like the COD co-op mods in MW2 only on crack? Either way, it’ll probably be revolutionary.
