We’re kicking it old school and bringing back “What Are YOU Playing” for another week. Come on in and let us know what you’ve been playing this past week, and what you intend to sink your teeth into for the week ahead.

The Yakuza 3 demo hit the PlayStation Store on Friday, but I couldn’t help feel a pang of disappointment with how it played. If you disagree, feel free to shame me into giving it another chance.

For myself, it’s been all about the DS. Some thrifty eBay shopping allowed me to pick up Professor Layton and the Curious Village, as well as New Super Mario Bros. Love is in the air.

Folklore has been getting a run in my PS3, giving me a chance to appreciate some kickass story-telling and god-awful voiceacting. Also making my way through Demon’s Souls, slowly but surely.

But the biggest surprise for me this week has been A Boy and His Blob (a review will be up this week). It’s been such a hassle getting my hands on this title, but since Thursday I haven’t been able to put it down. With Rugby League 3 on its way, my Wii will surely be getting the hardest workout of its career.

What about YOU?

  1. Just finished off Bioshock 2 tonight, which frees up my recent-release schedule until Heavy Rain arrives. I’m sure the Bad Company 2 demo will get a little more play before too long, but until then, I think I might put some hours into Dragon Quest 8 and catch up with a few recent Steam purchases.

  2. You know Tales of Vesperia? That game that was a time sucking phenomena for everyone over a year ago? Yeah, it finally got to me.

That, along with Bioshock 2, PB Winterbottom and the BC2 demo own me. Well, when I’m not reviewing stuff!

  3. Last week? The Bourne Conspiracy. That was until I got sick of the hand-to-hand combat which broke the flow of the game.
This week? Bioshock and maybe Bourne Conspiracy aswell depending on how quick I finish Bioshock.

  4. I’ve been rocking the BC2 demo, MAG (way too much to be healthy), some Bioshock and Darksiders here and there, and, of course, The Misadventures of PB Winterbottom (which I can’t recommend highly enough).

  5. I’m playing Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth. I’m at the very end, I just haven’t had time to finish it – been busy helping my new roommate move in!

  6. I’ve gone back to Mass Effect in an attempt to finally finish it so I can start on the awesome-looking sequel!

  7. As always I’ve been thoroughly addicted to the BC2 demo. Along with this, I’m playing Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy in preparation for Heavy Rain.

    • What do you think of that game (and how far are you into it)? I enjoyed it up until the ending started to unfold… then I thought the story kinda killed any attachment I had to the characters and just stopped playing.

  8. Good god Martin, don’t do it! It starts out so well and then … errrrr

I’ll be playing BioShock 2 multiplayer between attempting to get work done. So a lot of multiplayer then :P

I play a lot of things.

Yakuza, Blood Will Tell, Persona 3:FES, Nocturne, a little Dragon Age, Wolverine Origins, and Mass Effect. Killzone on PSP got played at work this week.

  10. Starcraft 2 Beta.

    That is all.

  11. Played Bioshock 2 this last week, I’m right near the end so I’ll get it finished today. Lots of Plants vs. Zombie on iPhone for review (look for it here soon!) as well.

Next week looks to be about PB Winterbottom and Heavy Rain; I’m also looking to take a gander at the BFBC2 demo so as to not be a total liability when I play on game night next!

Also, kudos to you Simon for playing through Folklore! Such an under-rated PS3 game. . . unique and actually uses the six-axis in an interesting (not annoying) way.

Dragon Age again, then Heavy Rain.

  13. I finally beat Blaster Master Overdrive and now I’m playing Bioshock 2. I’m also watching the Halo Legends DVD. Does that count as a game?

  14. I’m re’playing Kingdom Hearts 2 since i don’t have any money for Bioshock 2. Also playing Tom Clancy’s HAWX and the demo for CHIME.

  15. I’ve been trying to finish Prince of Persia for about a year now. I’m probably halfway through it and have to stop after an hour or so because the combat makes me want to gouge my eyes out. Aside from that, I enjoyed a few rounds of the BC2 demo with the crew.

As for indie games, I’ve got some great games coming up for review, including Square Off and My Doodles Are Bugged! from the XBIG section.

    • It’s seriously best to just power-run Prince of Persia. I sat down with it and some Full Throttle and Boulevard a few weekends ago and just rocked the thing out in 2 days. If I’d started playing anything else during that time, I guarantee I’d never have gone back.

  16. Lots and lots and lots of MAG, that is, after I beat Mass Effect 2, BioShock 2 and Bayonetta last week within a couple days of each other. I’ll be renting Heavy Rain and hopefully be getting my hands on Deadly Premonition next week.

  17. Well, I haven’t had anything else to play since MW2…but Red Faction Guerrilla should be in my mailbox tomorrow, so I’m excited about that!
