If you’re a 360 gamer who was looking forward to Trine, it looks like you’ll have to get your fix on the PC or PS3 platforms. The high detailed 2D puzzle-platformer was scheduled to be released last year, but that date has come and gone and the XBLA has seen neither hide nor hair of Trine. Joel Kinnunen of Frozenbyte recently stated on the company forums, “It’s out of our hands but most likely will not happen. Sorry. (We probably won’t comment on this any further.)”

One has to wonder with a statement like that, just why the game won’t be released on 360. If the game was developed enough to be released, perhaps licensing issues or other problems prevented the release. Joystiq contacted Microsoft for a statement, but it seems they’ve refused to shed any light on the cancellation as well.

It’s really interesting to see how game developers will incorporate social media into their games as it takes a great foothold in our lives. Ubisoft’s newest attempt is probably the best yet, as it gives fans of their Prince of Persia series of games a chance to pick an achievement which will make its way into the game.

The poll is currently taking place over on the Prince of Persia Facebook page, allowing fans to vote for one of five achievements to be included in the newest installment of the series, The Forgotten Sands. While you don’t get to make up your own achievement, but rather pick for a list of available achievements, it will be interesting to see which community achievement gets put into the game.

One thing that has always amazed me about the video game industry is the ability of some companies to actually make you excited about their upcoming games, even if you had no interest at all initially.  The latest example of this trend is Bungie and their newest game Halo Reach.

As I already stated yesterday, I am no big fan of the Halo series.  I like it, and I’ve played all the games, but when a new addition to the series is announced, I don’t jump for joy like a lot of people do.  It therefore shouldn’t come as a shock that Halo Reach hasn’t really peaked my interest all; that is until I watched the new video documentary Bungie released today.  Now I’m extremely excited about this new Halo game, which is a feeling I’ve never experienced before.

Alan Wake Cancelled For PC
By: | February 12th, 2010

This is possibly the saddest news of the week. Remedy Entertainment, those behind PC stalwarts Max Payne and its sequel, have decided that Alan Wake will no longer be coming to PC. In an announcement made by a Microsoft spokesperson yesterday, it was revealed that the game would instead be exclusive to the Xbox 360 system, making for a more “compelling” experience.

Given that PC gamers have now been waiting for the game for five years, this is sure to come as something of a blow – especially when you consider that they made the announcement just a few months before the game is due to release. Read on for the full quote from Microsoft.

If anything can be said about Rotor’scope: The Secret of the Endless Energy, it’s that its thorough. At its heart, the game is a simple puzzler with a narrative wrapped around it, but developer Nivel21 has managed to combine the wonders of social networking with a solid game to create a user experience quite unlike anything else you’ll find on the 360 today.

The premise for the game is pretty basic; you start the game in a mansion with rooms which need to be explored using a special device known as the rotor’scope. As you solve the puzzles, you’ll learn more about the device from a mysterious man hidden within the mansion.

Since the puzzles are the main focus of the game the narrative really takes a back seat. It’s not going to win any awards for its story telling, and some of the twists and turns are entirely expected, but the puzzling play is second to none.

According to Ars Technica, via an underground source, Microsoft is planning to announce two new Xbox 360 bundle packs by midnight tonight.  The two bundles in question are set to release alongside both Splinter Cell: Conviction and Final Fantasy XIII, setting their street dates for March 9th and April 13th, respectively.

These two bundles will apparently be similar in nature to the Modern Warfare 2 bundle released earlier in the fall, in that they will come packed with a sizable 250 gig hard drive, as well as two wireless controllers, color coordinated with the console.  Since the Splinter Cell console will be black and the FFXIII console white, the controllers included will follow suit.
