If you’ll recall, last week we reported that gamers who redeemed a code acquired by purchasing a copy of Darksiders early on would receive a free copy of another THQ title, Red Faction: Guerrilla.  Well, it appears that THQ really wants you to play Red Faction, because another offer pertaining to a free copy of the game has sprung up.

According to THQ, if you pre-order their upcoming horror title Metro 2033 on the digital distribution platform Steam, you will be gifted a free copy of Red Faction: Guerrilla for your trouble.  It would appear that there are a wealth of extras sitting around the THQ offices. Read more… »

If you’re one of the many legitimate gamers who’ve been affected by anti-piracy technology, Ubisoft is about to blast you away with their latest ploy.  Assassin’s Creed 2 is due out for the PC next month, and Ubisoft is doing everything it can to protect its gem.

In a controversial anti-piracy method, Ubisoft is requiring players to have a constant uninterrupted internet connection.  Without an internet link, you won’t even be able to start the game, and anytime your connection fails, you’ll be booted from the single player game. Read more… »

If you are a frequent reader of Gamer Limit there’s no doubt that you’ve caught some of our Alan Wake coverage. Today developer Remedy offered up a more detailed reason as to why the “psychological action thriller” will not be on the PC.

Remedy’s Oskari Häkkinen, head of the Alan Wake franchise, stated “Frankly, we’re a small studio. We’re 50 people, and being a small studio, it makes a lot more sense for us to focus on one platform.” Read more… »

Today developer Frictional Games, best known for its survival horror series Penumbra, released a new trailer for its up coming horror title Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

Apparently Frictional Games is looking to create a truly immersive experience in Amnesia. Taking a page out of the Half-Life 2 formula, Frictional Games stated: “The idea is to convey as clearly as possible that the player is in control of the character throughout the whole game. There are no cut-scenes or any sort of moments where control is taken away to force the narrative forward.” Read more… »

Resident Evil 5 caused sort of a schism between survival horror and action fans. Although Resident Evil 4already made the fully fledged transition from horror to adventure, a handful of the series’ fans were not happy with the new testosterone-filled, steroid-induced Chris Redfield.

Capcom took some of those criticisms to heart with the new DLC pack Lost in Nightmares. Featuring the mansion from the original game, and more claustrophobic, relaxed gameplay, this new mission will no doubt please a handful of gamers who were disappointed with Resident Evil 5. Read more… »

When BioShock first hit the Xbox360 back in the summer of 2007, many were left in awe by a stellar plot, original gameplay and great customization options, and above all, a gorgeous yet ultimately disturbing backdrop that was the underwater city of Rapture.

Now, two and a half years later, we make our return to the dystopian society in this highly anticipated sequel from 2k Games, ready to explore the submerged depths of the mentally unstable once again, and every bit of it is as eerie and disturbing as it was before. World of Warcraft used to be my game of choice. “Vanilla WoW” as they called it, brought me some of the best video game experiences I have had. Nothing quite like killing Ragnaros for the first time with a group of 39 other people you have never actually met. Experiences like this, the friends I made, and the elite group one was part of for having purples is what kept me playing. Then, Blizzard decided to give the game the “kiss of death” as I see it: accessibility.

Accessibility – or “catering to the casuals” as I call it – is slowly having an impact on the video game industry’s biggest titles. While change can be a good thing, accessibility seems to be exponentially finding its way to the forefront of video game designers’ minds. Is this a good or bad thing? Read more… »

Imagine being a defense attorney with a client facing murder charges. Here is the situation: the defendant and victim were locked in a room together. Witnesses heard two gunshots come from inside the room. When said witnesses broke through the door, the defendant had a gun in her hand, and the only other person in the room at the time was lying dead. Prove the defendant’s innocence under these circumstances.

If this sounds thrilling or intense to you, then you might be a big fan of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice For All. The Ace Attorney games are a series of murder mystery stories told from the perspective of a defense attorney: the titular Phoenix Wright. His clients have been accused of murder on trumped up charges, and it’s your goal to prove their innocence while simultaneously solving the mystery – no matter how bleak the situation may seem.

I’ve been sitting on this news a while, wondering if any of the other major outlets would jump on it. It’s about a new game. The name?

Dudebro, My Sh*t Is F*cked Up So I Got To Shoot/Slice You II: It’s Straight-Up Dawg Time.

Let that name sink in a moment. Ready? Let’s continue.

Dubebro II is the freshman project by Grimoire Assembly Forge, a collection of a hundred or so NeoGAF volunteers who have come together to turn an in-joke into an actual game. The story behind its inception is the stuff of Internet legends; if you want all the details, I suggest sifting through the game’s wiki at your leisure.
