Billy Mitchell is a very skillful player and there’s no doubt that he’s produced some amazing scores. HOWEVER, he’s a fucking dick! What a fat pussy! The King of Kong movie just shows you that there’s such a difference in being a “player”(Billy Mitchell) and being a “champion”(Steve Wiebe). It’s all about your character. A champion is someone that isn’t only the best at what they’re doing, but also has such a great personality and spark about them. Billy Mitchell is a chicken shit! I’d play his ass live. My highest Donkey Kong score is only 213,500 but I’d still sit down and go head to head with him. Good job Steve and keep gaming.

It makes me feel somewhat worthless, but I can console myself by saying that the only reason I CANNOT do something like that is because I don’t allow myself to spend forever on such games. They’re entertaining, but they’ll never rival my love of writing, and interacting with my friends online. And even then, I don’t let things dominate my life. Both writing and gaming are my favorite hobbies, but I have relationships to maintain, classes to take, activities to do, overall.

That’s not to say the people up there don’t have lives of their own. They’re just a different breed from me. If I had their drive and their want to get up there, maybe I could. But as I am, I’ll take being decent at a game over making the game the focus of my attention for any length of time.

You should be scared. I was on MW2 last night and someone went 35 and 5 (vs my typical 20ish and 8ish). When we got back into the lobby I heard him speak….let’s just say there was an obvious lack of puberty. I didn’t ask him how old he was, but I would guess at the oldest he was 8. I was definitely scared!

@Christopher I’ve not seen King of Kong but apparently he doesn’t come across too well haha – Mitchell reckons his apparent arrogance was all down to post editing, but it’s heavily debated. Either way, he’s pretty handy with a joystick!

If you’ve ever seen King of Kong, and you’re a rational human being, you’ll come to despise the douche-y-ness of Billy Mitchel. I’m not a violent man, but if I saw that bastard walking down the street, I’d be liable to drop the motherf**ker.
