As the rumors and speculations keep counting up, Tiger Wood’s endorsement deals keep going down.  But unlike the rest, one company has stuck by his side, EA Sports.

And whether you’re his wife or a video game company, you’d be crazy not to stick with him.  Slapping his name on the franchise has earned EA over $600 million.  Now that’s a spicy meatball. Read more… »

WiiWare fans rejoice, for you are not forgotten! Ghostfire Games has announced a new contest for their latest title, Rage of the Gladiator, that offers a unique – and pretty damn cool – prize.

The developer has challenged its gamers to a race. That’s right, a global race where the first players from Europe and North America to screenshot their accomplishments will have their name emblazoned across children’s foreheads made part of Ghostfire Games’ next title.

Hit the jump to find out what you need to know.

A couple months ago, one Eric Ruth announced that he was working on an NES-style demake of zombie-bustin’ party shooter Left 4 Dead. Usually these home projects get hit with delay after delay, but Mr. Ruth stood by his promise to release the game in January 2010.

This conversion is the freshman entry in the Pixel Force line, a planned series of retro-remakes of modern-day favorites. The goal is to capture the spirit of the originals while pretending the nineties never happened. While Pixel Force: Left 4 Dead only allows two-player co-op instead of four-, all the missions, weapons, and infected are represented albeit in limited-color fashion.

Dragon-Age-Origins-Awakening-02

Today Bioware announced the first expansion for Dragon Age: Origins. Dubbed “Awakening,” the new expansion, which adds new locations and party members, is due out this March.

Awakening allows gamers to either play with their existing Dragon Age character, or start over again as “a new Grey Warden from the neighboring land of Orlais.” Players will be tasked with “uncovering the mystery of how the darkspawn survive after the slaying of the Archdemon.” Read more… »

Today Blizzard revealed that there will be a Protoss “mini-campaign” integrated into the Terran-centric singleplayer campaign in StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty.

According to a forum post by Stefanie Gwinner, Blizzard’s European RTS community manager, “I can confirm that there will be a Protoss mini-campaign that lets you control Protoss units.” She went on to say “This part of the campaign mode is of course way shorter than the Terran part, but it is very fun to have a very different playstyle to add even more variety to the game. [Y]ou won’t be using all units or getting to know buildings and upgrades.” Read more… »

It’s a bird … it’s a plane … no, it’s some guy with a jet pack strapped to his back, flying around in the Bermuda Triangle, fighting aliens using cover and shoot gameplay mechanics. That’s essentially the best way I can describe Capcom’s newest IP, Dark Void, and it’s exactly why the game needs a demo badly.

Luckily, it appears that a demo will be available for download tomorrow on the Xbox 360 and Thursday on the PS3.  We will then finally be able to figure out whether this game has wings to fly, or whether it will crash and burn like Bionic Commando some other Capcom titles as of late.  So who out there is curious enough to download this and find out for themselves if it’s worth purchasing? rogue

Alfred Hightower was your typical drug dealer who successfully ran to Canada to elude U.S. authorities.  But due to his video game habits, he was successfully tracked down and is now in custody.

In 2007, Indiana’s Howard County Sheriff’s Department issued a warrant for Hightower’s arrest, but because of his rogue like elusiveness, he managed to escape authorities.  Through a criminal investigation, Howard County deputy Matt Roberson discovered his video game addiction, and learned he was hiding out in Canada.

But how did U.S. authorities managed to mount a real life raid?  Read on to find out. Read more… »

He's on fire.

ESPN has just revealed that EA Sports has acquired the rights to NBA Jam and is looking to pump out an update exclusively for the Wii. Mark Turmell, father of the legendary original, is on board to make sure the refresh delivers the same two-on-two hotdoggin’ action that you know and love.

NBA Jam represents a simpler time when sports video games were quick-fire blasts and not the cumbersome micromanagement chore the genre has become today. You can’t get games like NHLPA Hockey ’93 or NFL Blitz anymore (Blitz: The League doesn’t count). If this new installment can recapture some of that old arcade magic, I’ll gladly take the plunge.

I wonder if I can still play as Clinton. Hey, maybe Obama will make an appearance!

MAG Open Beta out now

mag-massive-action-game1

Those who have been pining to sample Sony’s upcoming shooter MAG are now in luck, as the open beta has started today and is currently waiting to be downloaded on the PSN store.

MAG has gained ample anticipation for its promise of 250 player online battles, and the beta allows you to experience such audacity in its Domination mode. Or, if that sounds too daunting, there is also the Sabotage mode, which houses a more modest 64 players.

The only catch is that the beta will be ending on January 10th, but fear not as the full release is not too far away – the battle shall re-commence on January 26 in North America and Asia, January 28 in Japan, and January 29 in Europe.

fallout-new-vegas

I’m one of those people who doesn’t believe rumors leaked through the GameSpot forums.  Unfortunately, I’m also the kind of person who loves juicy rumors, especially when they are about the newest entry in the Fallout series, Fallout: New Vegas.

Well it appears that a GameSpot forum user has posted a ton of information about the new Fallout game, which will be debuted in the upcoming issue of Game Informer. I’ve compiled a complete list of the rumors, which can be viewed after the jump, but I must warn you that this all comes from a so called “trusted source” who apparently has inside connections to the magazine.  For all we know, this information could be completely false.
