Just saw this tidbit:

"but I couldn’t get more than an hour in[to MadWorld] before shelving it."

That's a 1/3 of the way through the game! ;D

Simple: Screw the "AAA" games. Too much fluff.

My pledge (and I know I'm going to get flamed for this) is that I'm not buying anything before FFXIII. And, I'm going to beat it before I buy anything else. I have a ridiculous backlog of purchases (Gears of War, Assassins Creed, Fable 2, etc) that I've never even played more than 1 hour. I'm going to work through those this year as time permits me to get away from CoDMW2. It's hard to pass up when you have 5 people inviting you to hardcore matches constantly.

Great write-up Tony.

Of all of these, the one I need to stick to the most is reducing my backlog. In past years, you usually had the first 5 or 6 months of the year to catch up on last years backlog, thanks a slow beginning of the year release schedule. In 2010 though, you have some serious AAA titles coming out in the first quarter of the year. I have no idea how I'm going to keep up. :-(

It's sucks when most of your backlog consists of RPGs like Fallout 3 (still haven't even started), Oblivion, Dragon Age, and Demon's Souls.

I've already fulfilled the resolution to reduce my backlog...although it's mostly been on the 360. :) Still, I've gotten over 2,000 achievement points in just a few weeks. That's a record for me.

Funny stuff Tony. I got myself MGS4 this Christmas, so like you suggested, I will playing through that before I pick up my next purchase.
