I gotta say, At first I shuddered when I saw the way Christopher jumped, thinking it was the same as the original. They definitly polished up the controls to the point where it felt like a different kind of game. Only thing they could have done better was give a little more time in lvs 4 and 5; I had to rush through them and it often got me killed... but at least the bosses fight fair, no unavoidable grim reaper sythes this time.

p.s. The castlevania games always increases the damage you take without warning; I noticed this in the hall before the grim reaper on the original when the medusa heads were suddenly doing a better job of killing me than the 2 axe knights blocking my path...

I've been looking to beat the original Castlevania for the past month now, playing in my spare time. I've almost completed it now, and I have to say it's one of my favorite overall games, and probably the favorite NES game I've played. This review makes me want to take a train home, pull my sister's Wii from the wall, and keep it for myself until I obtain and conquer this game.

Excellent review, and it really made me want to start playing again...in fact, I think I will.

...Damn Grim Reaper...
