Today indie developer Cyanide Studios announced that it’s fantasy football (as in wizards and goblins, not ‘fantasy football’) game Blood Bowl will be receiving a retail release next year courtesy of publisher SouthPeak Interactive.
While Blood Bowl is current available for the PC via digital distributors like Steam, there has been little mention of the Xbox 360 or PSP release, that is until today. Cyanide announced that the retail copies for the Xbox 360 and PC will arrive next month. The PSP release will come later this spring.
For those of you not familiar with Blood Bowl, the game started out as a Warhammer table-top cross over. Basically it was a strategy board game that saw the different creatures from the Warhammer universe fighting over the old pig skin. As you would expect there is a great deal of violence and fun.
According to Aubrey Norris, Manager of Human-Orc Relations at SouthPeak, “We’re thrilled to have a part in bringing a proper retail version of Blood Bowl to North American gamers on Windows PC, Xbox 360 and PSP. It’s never easy to get all these races to agree on something – but if there’s one thing they love its good competition with a lot of bloodshed!”

Aww man! I forgot all about this game! Blood Bowl looks so awesome, I really need to play it some time.
wait hasn’t this already been released, its been on my rental list for about a month?
Blood Bowl is distinguished by a deep respect for the world of board game. All races and all players are recognizable at first glance. The charm of the beast is undeniable, but technically speaking, we are not here dealing with a true standard. In fact, Blood Bowl displays for graphics and colorful but not fundamentally impressive.
