Simply by visiting this website, I’m going to take the liberty of assuming that the majority of you have dealt with bullies at some point in your lives. Sega recognized this, and started to market ads that appealed to the underdog, the lesser-man… the nerd.

This week’s Retro Ad is a hilarious trip back to what Sega marketers thought us “nerds” fantasized about doing to our tormentors.

Achievement junkies rejoice! Games on Demand for Windows Live has finally made its debut. In an attempt to oust Steam as the king of PC digital downloads, Games on Demand is offering a ton of new blockbuster hits, and one oddly free previously released (on Vista Ultimate editions of Windows) puzzle game: Tinker.

Tinker very much dons a minimalist approach, and has a visual style that is strikingly similar to one of your grandparents dusty old board games. Read more… »

“Well met, gaming travellers! I’ve been expecting you. When you’ve worn the red robes of a Game Master, you learn to sense the needs of players. You yearn to learn more of a simpler time, when MMOs were defined by two dimensions. A time when playing online meant playing Ultima Online.

I can transport us back into that realm borne of the imagination of Garriott, if your will is strong enough. Hold the number 1997 in your minds. A year when Hanson sang “MMMbop” while astronomers watched Hale Bopp. A year when Clinton tripped and injured his knee while the first all-woman team walked proudly to the North Pole.

It’s working! Quick, follow me over the jump into the time portal!”

Being a big fan of Red Dead Revolver, I jumped at the chance to watch a gameplay demo of the Rockstar’s upcoming Red Dead Redemption when I attended PAX this year.  Despite an impressive inital showing which highlighted a huge open world (even larger than San Andreas), the state of the early build I saw had very little to offer in the way of things to do outside of the mission structure.

In the most recent trailer released, actual gameplay footage shown indicates that there may be a veritable stampede of gameplay elements present in the current-gen iteration of the spaghetti western IP.
